  • i wish they would remake this... today's graphics would make this game amazing

  • Wow, Fantastic

  • Wow. I've never seen these cutscenes before. I only had it on N64, so I'm used to the static images and dialog text.

  • omg you really have done a great job making this videos. Seriously I wish that lucasarts would put these into the game instead of pause picture with words.

  • @soraroxas123456789 that's all the n64 could handle at the time

  • Wow, those cut scene graphics look a helluva lot better than the shit on the N64. I feel ripped off.

  • Is it just me or does Dash's voice sound a lot like Alec Baldwin?

  • @onearmedbandit84 no its not just you

  • i dont remember it like this

  • It looks as if it was gamecube!!! but it's the PC in the 90's

  • a should've been movie that never was

  • REMAKE PLZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • i was stuck with the N64 too

  • this is better than the n64 version way more better. Sadly enough I was stuck with the n64 8(

  • I can't believe the music is so much better in this version. For years I had no idea this was even a PC game. The endless short loops of music on the N64 were no where near the full songs, and the graphics are quite a beauty. Thank you for this

  • Painful nostalgia

  • baddest thing, is you'd get graphics this good on a ds nowdays!... and I mean the main game parts of course

  • baddest thing, is you'd get graphics this good on a ds nowdays!...

  • wait.... what game system is this? it has better graphics then the n64 on the cutscenes

  • @MegaHulk17 PC dude no console just the glorius PC!!! Before the home consoles advanced as far as to sport impressive graphics the was the PC's CD-ROM!!! God I miss the 90's

  • @trans8010 oh. me to the 90s rocked

  • @MegaHulk17 PC

  • Love Lee BO's voice.

  • Everyones saying how they love the game or book or how it should be done, man you have done a superb job! I use blender 3D and you are a god compared to me how many people did it take to produce this?

  • it was the second game that came out on nintendo 64 and i'm glad my big bro had it cuz it marked my childhood :3

  • ah memories...the first time ever i flew around in a Star wars ship in 3d....now i fly one to go to the store...oh wait. :P

  • they should make a serious CGI film based on the novel so long as a competent director like Irvin Kershner of empire strikes back fame is behind the helm, and not george lucas

  • i love this book

  • weird the cutscenes are cooler than N64 but N64 ones had more dialogue in most of them and this cutscene also had han solo and he doesnt appear on the PC version i think.

  • i don't get this tho. how come ur ship is literally next to the falcon here, but in the next level your no where near it???

  • Wow I was expecting the N64 edition, that was the best.

  • nice start.

so who were the voices for that Robot, and that man who was with him?

  • i want this on the xbla and psn.... :) i play this all the time

  • they should make a live action Shadows of the empire

  • Worst. Attempt. Ever.

  • wow the pc version of the game kicks alot more ass than the N64 version

  • damn looks like ay real movie props

  • Actually, that is a very good point. I guess SOTE will not be a possibility, simply because there are characters in the story which are in the original films (Luke, Leia etc). If they were to cast different actors for those roles, Star Wars fans would rage so hard. Dark Forces II is different because you don't see any of the main characters from the original films, instead you get new characters who you have never seen or heard of from the films.

  • O.K guys, Star Wars books/comics/games/non-canon stuff will never be in a film, so stop wishing for that. BUT, they CAN be in a television series. The new proposed Star Wars television series' Lucas and everyone close to him are planning to do are based on stories not focused on the main characters in the six films (as far as we have been told). So, because of this, it is a possibility that some expanded universe stories, such as SOTE and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II could be added. But who knows

  • @JinRenegade Most of the books or comics or games are considered canon by Lucarts, the authors, George Lucas, the SW team who worked on the movies, and a large percentage of the fans. Unless it has Wookie Jedi or things that just don't make sense with SW standards it is most likely canon. Idk about this game though. I didn't watch the whole thing. I just skipped to certain parts of it and I don't have the game anyway.

  • Even Though there is some crazy stuff in the book which seems a little off-Kiltter for Star Wars , I would love too see Lucas do Shadow's Live Action one day.

  • Well lucas himself said that shadows of the empire is his favourite expanded universe novel...and one of the few he consider really "canon".In the new edition of "a new hope" for example he inserted Dash Rendar's ship leaving Mos Eisley in the same moment when Kenobi and Luke arrive at the cantina.(the ship you see departing in the sky).

  • Arguably, Shadows of the Empire was the best Star wars Paperback novel ever made.

  • I don't think we'll ever have more Shadows Of The Empire-related material... But if I was a film maker I would love to turn it into a movie :D

The major problem would be to find actors for Luke, Leia and Lando... Concerning Dash and Xizor, I think Josh Brolin and Tim Curry would be real good choices (respectively)...

  • @Willdo89 Chuck Norris could play Dash.

  • @Jagguar20 He would make a very good Dash for sure. Unless anyone else can think of some other rugged, roguish type of a guy.

  • @Agent1W just asking but there are many chuck norris or just one because i saw one that is chinese Jet li style but also one that is american once i think.

and i think that the chinese one could be cool if he captures the style of Dash lol but in apearance wouldnt look like him. lol

  • Damn! that Was awesome!!

  • what´s SOTE?

  • shadows of the empire

  • Comment removed

  • It's a video game, a toy series, book series... you name it.

  • Wow this brings back some memories!

  • god how i miss this game...

  • 3:41 / 6:05 missed it by that much :P

    jk man good job

  • Indeed. The Empire would meet a formidable enemy in Black Sun, the Tenloss Syndicate, or any other galactic crime-based organization. Add that to the growing Rebel threat and the other, obvious strains an Empire faces, and what do you get? Almost certain defeat. However, Darth Vader had already pissed Lord Xizor off enough by testing biological weapons on his homeworld, so I doubt the two conglomerates were on the best of terms.

  • Wouldn't Dash have noticed that the Empire was attacking on his approach? Or, at least, couldn't the Rebels have warned him to stay away? And how did they ever expect to keep the base a secret when they have all sorts of mercenaries, smugglers, etc. coming and going?

  • that's what gave them the advantage, Imperials are only after the Rebel bases, not Pirate havens and such.

  • To all Star Wars PC veterans here:

Which do you prefer, Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith, or Shadows of the Empire?

  • jedi knight.

  • Jedi knight, hands down.

  • If your a true Star Wars Fan!! There is no Preference all of these Games are Excellent!!

  • @ColonelWatts23 I've played neither, but I remember buying an original copy of X-Wing and falling in love instantly :D

  • Damn i didnt know there was cg cutscenes to this game, i had the N64 edition. The graphics look the same though. I remeber back in the day i thought this game looked movie quality, how times have changed.

  • Man this was my Fav Mission

  • I liked this project.

Dash is a bit too obvious of a replacement for Han. Just a bit.

I didn't realize how superior the PC version was. The voice acting is a nice touch.

The gameplay you added helps tie things together too. Thanks a lot.

  • I dont reconize these cutscenes from the n64 verison is there one for the ps1 or sumtin

  • This game was released for N64 and PC. The pc game had better graphics and cutscenes like this one.

  • They used animated comics for the cutscenes with subtitles instead of actual dialogue. I really like this version better

  • hmm bad quality :/ battlefront 2 is bit better, still nice vid

  • @battlefront2nub

this game was made in 1996 what do you expect?

  • oh didnt know that

  • fav level !

  • i remember the n64 game..fun times

  • 2:52 "I'm gonna jump into a speedo"

Isn't it a bit cold for that?

  • Will there ever be a Part 2?

  • black sun is sort of a crime syndicate that the emperor uses to speed up the construction of the new death star. Their leader (xizor) is a faleen that has put out a bounty on skywalkers head in vaders name.

  • I remember I had this for the N64 and for the PC. The PC version always crashed on me, but it was still pretty epic. I loved this game so much.

  • I vaguely remember playing this game when I was younger...

  • I hope they make an animated movie of this story.

  • wasnt clone wars bad enough?!

  • @pokani365

Actually it's not. And I'm not even a huge fan of that particular show.

  • @aussietrooper20 The fans should petetion show strong suport for a animated movie or even a series of shadows of the empire, Im dying to see something like that!!!

  • im a noob, but what does SOTE stand for? =)

  • Shadows of the Empire

  • ok ^^, then its a old game right? xD

  • if you like classics,than it's real fun,zombiefreak

  • i like them, i got 2 or 3 i dnt know realy! xD one of the game is racers ^^

  • only difference between the pc and the n64 is the cutscenes not even the graphics on hoth improved much

  • The Battle of Hoth level was immense. Although I was about 10 when I played it first time through but when I had a go a few years ago I realised the Walkers never get close to the base lol

  • is this better on the pc or n64? cuz this looks alot better on pc

  • it depends really.. The cutscenes were better on PC, but for the actual gameplay experience I would go with the N64.. It's kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't deal

  • I disagree I had it for N64, i prefer the N64 cutscenes. They had some cool pictures, especially the one with Dash facing off with the junkyard droid. Plus i didnt like the voice actor for Dash.

  • omg theres one for the pc?? i gotta see that ive been playing this for years and years and all this time theres one for the pc? wow!

  • yeah, i got a copy and it's pretty good. i think the n64 is great but the pc is a smidge better causeof the cutscenes

  • Oh really where did you get a copy from at i like to get one myself

  • I hope they make this into an animated film. who did Leebo's voise?

  • It's easy to recognise. It's Tom Kane.

  • I think this is pretty good--you changing camera angles makes it much more movie-like.

  • the book mad more sense

  • Nostalgia! Oh the memories....

  • some of the old star wars games are the best like this one. real fun game

  • I got this game for the N64 and it was my first video game. And it is still a great classic.

  • haha wow games back then were awesme :P

  • This game is awesome!~

  • GUH??? The difference between the PC and N64 version is huge, i only ever played the N64 version

  • one of the best games ever

  • i remeber borrowing a n64 when they very first came out

i played this, mario64 and waverace for hours on end

i can remember being amazed by the graphics lol

  • @teethgrinder07 omg the same with me!!! lol cept i was mario kart 64 lol

  • is it just me or is the guy that does dash's voice the same guy that does canderous' voice from KoTOR?

  • Yeah, it's the same actor.

  • ah HA! i knew it =D

  • I remember playing this game for the N64 good times, good times lol This was a great game one of the best N64 games and is one of the best sw games ever

  • Damn right it was!! This game and Mario 64 were my first 64 games ever. Back in 97 when i was 8 years old.

  • hell ya and those games were the shit including podracer damn good times

  • 3:41 fail lol

  • I don't remember cut scenes when i played this game.

  • This would make a killer total-cg film!!

  • Just so u guys kno, it's possible to destroy the AT-AT with lasers.

  • Yeah, Rogue Squadron did that with their X-Wings in Isard's Revenge I think. Also battles shown in Empire At War and Force Commander show that

  • they should make diss into a movieeeee!!!! Am begging ya george plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz yoooooooooooo!!!!

  • Yeah animated is fine..but would rather a more realistic character style than The Clone Wars. The more real it seems the better right?

  • Lucas said it himself that if this book had been written in the 80s that he would've definetly made it into a movie! BTW The Outrider actually makes a cameo in the Special Edition version of A New Hope. Look for it in Mos Eisley! Man what a beautiful ship!

  • Also I heard in the Gamecube/PS2 game

Star wars:Bounty hunter in one of the cutscenes the Outrider flys from a building or something, I got this info from Wikipedia.

  • Oh, that's so awesome! I'ma wanna buy it.

  • Dude be sure to buy the book! It's by far one of the best I've ever read!

  • Will I indeed. The Force be with you, it will.

  • wat is sote stand for?

  • shoadows of the empire

  • Adamloverboy14 that is not a YT-2400 it is a YT-510 the prediseser to the one you stated

  • they really should make a movie of SOTE

i suppose it would have to be animated

but not a crappy cartoon like clone wars

  • so more like that crappy CGI/animated-shit (or whats it called again) movie/serie that really sucked?

  • dont u worry about that, ill be the one who will make 3 parts to this...

  • Wow, this is nothing at all like the book, Shadows of the Empire, which sucked.

  • haha thats a YT-2400 in the first scene, i used that for smuggling on SWG XDD

  • yeah, The Outrider, one of my favorite ships

  • HOLY CRAP!!!

these graphics are amazing for a game that came out in 1997

  • yeah these graphics are the first attempt at Blu-Ray and HD

  • CRAP! The BluRay Disc assoc. was founded in 2002 by Sony, Phillips etc, and the tech was first commercially available in April 03. SOTE was a multimedia project rolled out in 1996/7. Whether the original CGI of the PC game was rendered in 1080p(which is highly unlikely) the codecs didnt exist to compress it onto a CD >> DVD tech was in its infancy at this stage and in itself would not have the capacity to output streams of 1080p video as the h264 codec spec would not exist for another 6 years!!

  • first attempt towards these new graphic details not the acctrual thing, calm down nerd.

  • it was a pretty example of 3d rendering. Thats all. Nothing to do with BR or HD, which are very specific things. Its like saying 'paintin grandmas corolla red' is the first attempt at making it a ferrari testarossa. They are technically not equivalent. Also, considering what ILM achieved with 3D CGI models Jurassic Park in 1993, this is far less accomplished, and hardly 'one of the first attempts'

  • so shadows of the empire took place between ep 5 and 6?

  • yup

  • The only thing I find that's really different from the Pc version is that the characters actually talk and there's cut scenes, also the cutscenes acctually have good graphics :P man I wish I had the pc version. It's kinda annoying reading subtitles oin the N64 one

  • Observation: This game reminds me of the Rogue Squadron game.

  • My favorite part of this game was the Hoth missions

  • How does this game play on PC compared to N64? I have only played the N64 version so if anyone could tell me if it is better or not let me know.

  • Sorry, my bad. It was a mistake. I downloaded this game 3 days ago, lol. I'm using Daemon Tools to play it.

  • Read the video description. This IS a video from the PC version. You have to remember that games for PCs have been out since the early 90s.

  • so many memories

  • Thank you very much.

  • ok thx

  • if that game fill come to pc i will kill my self

  • Do you know how to speak English?

  • witch game is Sote full name plsi dont know it

  • Shadows of the Empire

  • Secret of The Emporer

  • Yeah, "Secret of the EMPORER".

  • Is this the original audio? The game uses a very...different...performance of the 'Main Title.'

  • No, it's the Main Theme from the SOTE soundtrack, composed by Joel McNeely.

  • Well, the main title was composed by Williams, but yea, I know what you mean. New themes by Joel, arranged by Joel based on themes by John Williams... conducted by someone else though if I recall... I just didn't recognize this take on the main title... now I know...thanks

  • Who, besides me, would have rather seen this made into an animated movie instead of Clone Wars?

  • me!

  • Same here.

  • very nice

    very nice indeed

  • Dude, epic beginning sequence?

That from the game or did you make it?

  • as much as i liked this game as a kid, dash rendar has to be the biggest mary sue in the galaxy

  • joewhittles: Why is he a "Mary Sue" then? Explain...

  • well he's a little too much like han solo and also happens to be a much better pilot and gunman, he hangs about and does the most important stuff while everyone else seems to go "where is dash?" at every given moment. a mary sue if ever there was one, haha

  • Haha. Well, everyone loves the Han\rogue archetype so I'm not surprised he was written similarly in a lot of aspects. He's only a main character in the game, which doesn't have all the novel's details.

  • ahh, makes sense then

  • In Star Wars: Rogue Squadron you could not kill the AT-ATs by laser cannons, only by the Tow cables.

  • That game is horribly innacurate.

  • How is it?? The only inaccuracy I found was the Executor.

  • the rogue squadron series have the most accurate dogfighting sequences of any star wars game.

  • Ever heard of X-wing Alliance?

  • I believe Dash Rendar is also the voice for Canderous Ordo from KOTOR

  • he is.

  • the PC version looks better than the N64 version.

  • but the graphics in game are terrible.
