Blown away at the sheer beauty of this piece and the talent of Bernard! I found him while watching him accompany a young Joe Robinson guitarist from Australia. Bernard is truly a one of a kind bass player! He spreads his love through his music!
@diamondbass11 ahh ok i see, thats really cool. and man you must've been lucky to meet him.
one last thing i want to know...his whole playing...only very gently can you hear the melody of "amazing grace" there's alot of stuff he's doing which is like loads of different notes and stuff. (not that it sounds bad) why do you see alot of players do this? isit just personal preference? or does or are they actually trying to play the song? (sorry if this sounds stupid...)
@pervy9111 It's a great way to play songs you love, and be creative at the same time. Sometimes not even that! Sometimes people really love the chord progression of a song, so they just steal it, and use it for their own musical sensibilities. That's one of the beautiful things about music: There's so much freedom to hear everything in so many different ways!
@pervy9111 well...alot of players use the melody as roots to their own "rendition" of it...sometimes it sucks but sometimes it sounds pretty good like this and Victor Wooten's...and for alot of those added notes, they just do it for spicing it up and sometimes showing off haha. thats all its for.
Piccolo strings. Those things are awesome. I hung out with him at camp electric. He's an awesome guy. I just bought some of those strings from him. They are going to sound great.
love this guy, always have.... even before he made it big. went to high school with him... just saw him at our 20th year reunion... this guy is truly amazing in his work, and a wonderful person.
Saw Bernard at the Extraordinary Women conference here in Austin, TX, March 12th and March 13th (2010). Amazing and anointed doesn't even reach half of his capabilities. He is truly blessed and it was a true blessing to get to hear this man play!
its tuned to the register of a piccolo bass(E, A, D, G) with the bottom E sounding the same as 7th fret on Standard A string.
Some artists tune higher than this and by listening to this im considering the possiblilty that he has used a second tuning a 4th higher again, A, D, G, C.
this is only possible with special stings of a lower guage, if you are interested d'addario make sets for 4strings but im yet to find a 5sting set...
@cjtoota1 piccolo strings. i hung with him at camp electric and he uses piccolo strings. theyre an octave higher than normal strings but still E, A, D, G
Hey man bernard harris,is one of the best gospel bass players around,it's just that for some reason he need more of his dvd's to be seen.,but I have one of his cd's not a bad one ,wish it was more on it.but hey he do play like tisdale.Peace !!!!
dont mean brag... but im a classicaly trained musician,,, and this interpretation is so tasteful, well played and downright beutiful.... i don't understand how there isnt more of him aroung
o wow this is absolutley mind blowing! i have never seen anything so great! God has truly blessed him with a talent and he uses it in God's name. Great vid!!
