  • @cankeredbrains as well as other things that werent officially "discovered" untill many years later. but to each his own i guess.

  • @cankeredbrains were not talking about faith. were talking about fact. biblical fact. and were not talking about religion either. too many people automatically connect religion with the bible. im not saying there wrong but there not right either. see religion, by definition, is "a body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices". this essentially makes things like atheism a type of religion.the bible also mentions that the world is "hanging on nothing".

  • @Monfernape The bible is a 2,000 yr old book of fiction and fables. The crap in that thing is not real.Get over yourself.

  • Smartest quote from a movie recently made.

  • This is so true. However so many people think that the the bible and science have nothing in common when its quite the opposite. The bible was the first book to say that the earth was a "sphere" and "round" of course 500 years ago not everyone studied the bible and wouldn't know that so his statement iin this scene is relatively true.

    Love this movie.

  • 1500 years ago, everybody KNEW that the earth was the centre of the universe. 500 years ago, everybody KNEW that the was flat,

and 15 minutes ago you KNEW that nothing could travel faster than the speed of light.

    Imagine what you'll KNOW tomorrow.

  • @Syloso Scientists at CERN have admitted an experiment that appeared to show neutrino particles could travel faster than light was potentially flawed due to a faulty cable. Today CERN physicists have admitted a faulty connection between a GPS unit and a computer may be to blame.

  • Best line in the movie.

  • So true.

  • A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.

  • my fave scene ever...even put it in a song.....bee oh bee...call me if ya want to here it...6616366030

  • just a second

  • this movie made me realize that there's an airport exclusive for aliens

  • Those are the most compelling and profound words one can utter, when reffering to humanitie's arrogance.

  • @biggee316 Perhaps there is no greater demonstration than the folly of human conceits, than this distant image of our tiny world. - Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot

Check out Pale Blue Dot. It's a little more in depth, but thought provoking nonetheless.

  • Wow, seeing this as an adult gave me chills. So good.

  • Probably the best scene in the movie, and sadly, oh, oh so true.

  • 6 religious fanatics.

  • Orion is the fucking cat

  • 6 people didn't like this movie? 6? really? how repugnant are you?

  • What a BAMF

  • Actually people have known for thousands of years that the earth wasn't flat. This is a very common fable we have today about the Europeans pre-Columbus. No one actually thought that he would fall off the earth or that there were sea dragons in the ocean. Well maybe the second, but I mean, that would be pretty cool.

  • I don't care what anyone says, I think MIB was an amazing movie, highly entertaining too. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones had amazing chemistry :D

  • 3 people still know the world is still the centre of the universe.

  • Tommy Lee Jones just wakes up and eats a bowl of awesome flakes every morning. Love this movie.

  • I live a much happier life, since I simply see nearly all people as NPCs. (While playing chess) “You know what's so elegant about this little game, Jake? Nobody knows what the enemy is. They don't even know he exists. He's in every…one of their heads. And they trust him. Because they think they are him. If you try to destroy him… to save them,… they'll destroy you… to save him. Ahh… it's beautiful man… You have to admire the opponent's elegance. Check.”

  • Actually, we've known the earth was round for about 3000 years.

  • "imagine what you'll know tomorrow" this is one of my favorite quotes now

  • @WheresTheAnyKey1 Mine is "Person is smart, people are dumb"

  • memorable scene from a memorable movie. MIB is underrated.

  • A silly movie, but I find myself quoting this scene all the time.

  • 1 person can't accept the awful truth. If we don't learn to accept our fault's, how can we ever learn to rise above them, if just a little?

I'm not trying to say that I'm perfect or anything. Man, I know I'm not. lol That's just what makes reasonable sense in my head. We all possess intelligence. We just need to learn to use it more wisely.

  • this is the only way the people keeping this secret could really explain why they did so and honestly i have to say for the most part that they are absolutely right. people cant handle the truth, notice something about our solar system, and our galaxy is that they look like nothing is there from a distance.....

  • One of my favourites scenes all time. Everything meant here is true.

  • Amazingly profound scene. Absolutely brilliant writing and acting.

  • who knows, maybe we are the aliens???

  • Tommy Lee Jones has extremely uneven sideburns. First time I've noticed it, and now it bothers me.

  • Actually, 500 years ago people thought the Earth was round. Not many people ever believed it was flat. In fact, over 2000 years ago, Eratosthenes proved that the Earth was a sphere. It's really just a myth that people thought the Earth was flat.

  • @thehelloman0rs Actually this movie was made in the nineties, approximately 500 years before was when Columbus set foot on the land we now know as America. So no, Most people of the time did not think that the earth was round.

  • @Brittonsp Well I guess the uneducated masses. But the educated people knew the Earth was round. Just google flat earth.

  • @Brittonsp "The idea that educated men at the time of Columbus believed that the earth was flat, and that this belief was one of the obstacles to be overcome by Columbus before he could get his project sanctioned, remains one of the hardiest errors in teaching."

Please see the wiki (and its sources) on subject "Myth of the Flat Earth"

  • @Vlakpage "Christopher Columbus's efforts to obtain support for his voyages were not hampered by a European belief in a flat Earth. Sailors and navigators of the time knew that the Earth was spherical, but (correctly) disagreed with Columbus's estimate of the distance to India" Wikipedias; List_of_common_misconceptions

  • Its true if people found out there would be a panic.

  • one of my favorite sayings in the universe... people...

  • I thought this was said in front of the (inside job) twin towers.

  • tru shit

  • Pretty deep for a comedy.

  • .....yup, couldn't have said it better myself. Some people simply amaze me by how close-minded and stupid they are... for example: people in cults, racists, Glenn Beck's viewers, etc...

  • 0:00 - 0:37

    very true shit.

  • Give it a rest

  • you give the hate a rest and start loving freely and deeply and i promis i will "give it a rest" while im in meditation...

  • true worlds

  • on december 13 2012 your going to look like an idiot

  • @dumbovoy december 13th?

  • @dumbovoy I think you mean December 22nd

  • @Scope000 yea i fucked up the date i was thinking of something else

  • Is it safe? IS IT SAFE?!?!/

  • While the movie was cute, this scene was profound and a masterpiece

  • you are absolutely correct.

  • @BoondockRoberts this scene and the ending, where the galaxy is a marble for giant aliens .

  • this movie was the best.

    people are dumb and dangerous.

  • This line really sets the audience up to just accept the rest of the movie's crazy antics.

  • K's line is the truth on how people think

  • Real Talk

  • The perfect response to any asshole who says Aliens couldn't be visiting us and the very idea is ludacris.

  • assholes? harsh and ignorant. I think its reasonable for them to not believe it. Theres no proof, and why would they have gotten off their 'earth' already. Do you believe in God?

  • A better question is why wouldnt they? I'd leave the planet in a heartbeat if that was an option.

  • HAHAHAHA....

    Another close-minded asshole..

"Imagination is better than knowledge" -Albert Einstein

  • Not that they couldn't, just that they don't. Wheres the nearest planet with living things on it?

  • good lines.

  • glad to see u all like it

  • @joedirtbody Well who wouldn't like an awesome classic scene of a classic movie? :)

  • I think this is the best description of humanity ever

  • @FlinxWeasel I think the only way anyone realizes the message in this scene is the best description of humanity are those who choose to be whatever they want, draw their own opinions from the facts; instead of letting others put words and thoughts into their heads by force.

  • @FlinxWeasel I agree, this indeed a fitting description of us as a species. Like Socrates said "I know only that I know nothing..." the more we know, the less we know really... the more we explore space, and answer questions, the more misteries arise about the universe, that leads us to that axiom... the more we discover, the more we realise that there is alot we don't know or understand...

  • @FlinxWeasel You have to watch the Pale Blue Dot video if this scene sparks your interest.

  • Good lines.
