This episode is one of my favorites, and one of the rare Cold Case episodes that actually makes me cry (even if I'm always a bit sad at the end of each one). And actually, Cold Case is one of the veryyy rare shows that makes me cry.

What I didn't know was how was the stepfather arrested for the rape of his stepdaughter 12 years later. I thought there was some rule in the legal system that there is so many years to claim statutory rape.

I thought I was the only one to question the legalities of the arrest. There is definitely statutes of limitations on sexual crimes. And I questioned why the boxes of files were being taken, as though the stepfather would have recorded his sexual crimes which would've been stupid.

What I think is happening is Will is looking into other possible improprieties...maybe in the stepfather's business...to get him on something that can be verified with the confiscated records.

In some states the clock for statute of limitations on sex crimes against kids doesn't start until the victim turns 18 or 21 since a child may not be able to report or too scared .

As a child product of the 90s, this episode strikes at the core. The setting, the ambience, the music was perfect. It speaks to the soul, kind of like an unsung tv anthem for the nostalgic feeling of the 90s, and what it feels like to be an outcast. Perfect with my own bucket of tears.

I read that they wanted to use Nirvana songs in this episode but the producers couldn't get ahold of the rights to Nirvana's music. Nirvana is however referenced quite a bit. I guess the show's producers were able to get ahold of the rights to Nirvana songs for the episode "Thrill Kill" (S5 Ep. 1).

I happened to see this episode the other night, and I honestly think I look at life differently since I saw it. I didnt even see the beginning, but I was so involved, I knew ALL the characters and... I sat around crying and talking to my mum about how life isn't fair afterward. Really a touching episode.
