He combined the 1st riff of guitar one and the back lick of guitar two which sounds terrible. Also after you slide from the 15th fret of your low E (Open D tuning) your next move should a slide from the 5th to 7th fret of the low E. If you guys really want to learn this song search a channel called "martyzsongs". He actually runs you through guitar 1 & 2 and will get you all the way to the solo. - Justin

the actual song is played with TWO guitars.and one of them is in DROP D TUNING.thats why it sounds so weird when he plays it.he just combined the two guitar parts and didnt use the same tuning as pearl jam

I think he's got it wrong too, but I'm guessing it's different settings, I tried the riff on my amp with Drop D tuning, I edited the settings abit (Cali Metal, that's what it's named) on my VOX VT15, sounded a bit better, needs a bit of work on it though...

He's teaching how to play it in standard tuning as oppose to the tuning Stone's guitar is in for the song which is some dropped-D type of tuning. If you go compare the two it's not THAT far off.

I think Mike's guitar is in standard tuning, but he plays power chords up around the 7th fret (I think). At least that's how I remember the official Tab book described it. Those books sometimes are pretty inaccurate though.
