Howcome the general's Trumpets sound better than a wurliTzer 125? See my videos of horns on of the WurliTzer 125 at the herschell muesem then you'll know why I think these sound diffrent.
@anglerfly Because there are so many more pipes playing with them, remember this organ has 316 pipes and this organ is playing more at one time to get more volume out of the organ. This organ was designed to blast out more music than the average organ
@anglerfly Mike Kitner was considered one of the best IF not the best of band organ restorers. He Died a few years back of cancer, One of his organs are on you tube
@anglerfly I first met him in 1975 when it was in its first trailer, this trailer was purchased in 76 and was all gold, it was painted over the winter of 78-79 same time the organ was restored. I used to climb up on the back and neil on the ledge to change the rolls. I decided what rolls were to be played. The organ carried about 40 rolls at the time and about the same on his 157.
In the 80's right after it was restored by Mike Kitner, it was heard up to a mile away. The organ made Paul Torin almost deaf and my ears would ring for a day or so after we did a play with the organ. I was too stupid to not stand right in front of it it while it was playing, I guess I am still the same way.
No he is not mean, he was just very protective of the organ when he owned it. He kept it in mint condition, and had this trailer custom made. He is my mentor and I think the world of him. He has been very good to me since I was 11 (now 46)
Yes, its a inside joke, I told her about when I was a kid and Paul Torin the owner then, would yell at kids if they would jump up on the trailer, so my daughter being a wise a** thought it would be funny. If you look at the newer video's I posted of the organ, she does it again.... Get away kid , you're bothering me - WC Fields
The wooden trumpets are hidden behind the 2 outer panels on the front of the case. They face down and sound out the bottom where it is open and the large base pipes are mounted. This video was taken last year right before the organ was tuned and rebuilt.
Yeah its a one of a kind organ, There were 3 made and its the last to exist. It was restored in the late 70's by Mike Kitner but could use some work now.
At the time she was only 5 and since this organ is much louder than all of the other wurlitzers, it can be defening. Paul Torin the owner of the organ in the 70's and 80's is almost deaf due to this organ. Some people have claimed to hear the organ up to a mile away.
Very impressive. I have heard a few Wurlitzer 165's, and I can see with the metal pipes how loud it is. At the Griffith Park (LA, California) Merry Go Round, the Stinson organ they have can be heard for quite a distance.

Say where are the wooden trumpets? The catalog says this organ has both brass and wood trumpets but I can not see the latter. Good video though!
