I love TOOL & APC and I love this song. It's about anger and questioning. It's someone''s truth at a specific moment in the author's life experience and it's so beautifully honest that it pains me to see others deride it. I had a nephew who had Cystic fibrosis and he spent his short life praying for god to heal him. I spent alot of time comin to terms with that. i think this was part of Maynerd dealing with what happened to his mom just like wings for marie. I had a nephew who had Cystic fibrosis and he spent his short life praying for god to heal him. I spent alot of time comin to terms with that. i think this was part of Maynerd dealing with what happened to his mom just like wings for marie. I don't know if he doesn't understand her point of view. I think he just had a hard time coming to terms with it.

It's difficult to hear such anger expressed against the Lord I love..BUT... I think it is extremely honest and to express the (if I understand correctly) intense frustration and anger for having endured watching his mother suffer for a large part of his life. She suffered for so long and never lost faith. I think most people would have these feelings at some point, though few would be able to understand or express those feelings of anger. when we recognize anger we can learn it's misdirection.

actually this song is written as a response to Maynard's mother's unbreakable belief in Christ even after she was involved in a car accident rendering her paralyzed when Maynard was only 14. She remained faithful for the remainder of her life (10,000days) all of which were spent paralyzed.

I know my comment is a small bundle of words in a sea of opinions but I have to mention this. Ever think of the lyrics, "It's not like you killed someone/ Not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side" Those who believe(me included) believe Jesus was God in human form, but we killed him and stabbed him with a spear. Think this is a "life sucks, it will never be easy, deal with it because God is more concerned with making the next life perfect"?
