  • If you set your camera's white balance to 'auto' then this video is completely useless. Show something white so these temperatures would be comparable. IMO 4300K is best white (some says its moon color) and the least tiring for eyes. The rest are too blue, and just 'showy'

  • @cedpoul09 anything over 5000K starts to have a blue tint to it. This is harder to see the ground when it is wet, but all of the reflecting signs and whatnot shine really bright. I have 6000K in my lexus, i want to get 3500K for my fog lights so when it is bad whether i can see better. hope that helps!?

  • you should get the 6000K if anything. It goes out further than the 8000K. 4100K-4300 is the ideal color temperature to produce the maximum light output or called lumens. once it goes higher than 4300K it gets weaker so 10,000K would be weaker than 8000K and so on.

  • But the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have outlawed the use of HID conversion bulbs in the hole of the US and have prosecuted. The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) have outlawed the use of these bulbs as well and there durastiction covers the hole of the EU. Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia(JPJ) have also band such conversion in Malaysia

  • You only get glare when your running with stock headlight housing and upgrade to HIDs, if you have projector headlights just like a BMW would have, then the line produced is much sharper. so the kiddies rolllin in their civics with their stock housing and HIDs need a good slap, just get some projector headlights or angle eyes or w.e they look sick anyways so it worth it

  • i have 8000k's in my 99 TL. dealer wanted $120 for ONE BULB so i got a pair of phillips 8000k's off ebay for $80. They look awesome but they are definitely dimmer than the factory, so i would recommend stickin with the 3500 or 4300k's.

  • Glare crybabies were born when these kits became affordable. somehow glare didn't matter when these same kits were $800+. complain to the auto companies for not making HID factory optional on all cars.

  • Yay! Great! Illegal HID kits. They blind oncoming people and cause wonderful wrecks all while the glare takes the clarity form the road in front of you! Wonderful upgrade. Guaranteed to make your car look like modded kiddie garbage.

  • 4300k or 5000k is even better,you don't want to have blue lights on a(for example) '98 car..That's so not cool.

    6000k the most but not any higher.

  • 5000k are kind of teal (blueish/green) but there still mainly white. if there a pure blue like for example 9800k you could get pulled over but those are retarded too have.and also any pure blue reverse blub is illegal too because when you go in reverse all you can see is red and blue. i like 5000k and below and some 8000k. 6000k i find too common, i personally am using 5000k xenon bulbs for now untill i decide i want to keep the car or and will switch to 5000k or 8000k HID's.

  • Fitting HID bulbs to a Cars halogen lamps is illegal in the UK and has been since 1989. Contact the Department For Transport for more information on this matter.

  • which light color is closest to the look of the fancy cars like lexus or mercadez benz? is it 4300k or 6000k? im really confused about which one i need to buy. i dont want those deep blue lights like ricers, i want them to look nice like a lexus. Can someone steer me in the right direction.

  • 6000k is bright white which is same color as mercedes n lexus.

    8000k is light blue

    10000k is dark blue

    12000k is a purplish color

  • all OEM is around 4-4.5 K. none are 6000. they appear to be because the quality projectors they are set in, and the light when viewed close to eye level looks purple, only because you are viewing the cut off point of the light. If you want it done right, and actually improve light, dont go above 5k tempature, and if you can do a projector retrofit for best beam pattern.

  • That is totally wrong. The temperature of the light (the K rating) has nothing to do with the amount of light. Rather it is the colour of the light. Also its the lower the temperature of the light (lower K number) the better the light rain, snow and fog. This is as lower temper light penetrates and travels further. Also the lower the temperature the less dazzled you get from the reflections from the rain drops or ice particles.

  • Ive had a 4300k set as well as a 6000k and an 8000k. I found that the 8000k was so blue that it looked stupid. The 6000k was much better, and seemed to be closer to true daylight than any other, but definitely will stay with the 4300k! With a glare guard clipped onto the bulb, these work great, aim great, and I have passed the local vehicle inspection. And yes, most HID kits are not legal for retro-fit. Just do it right and keep it under 5000 or so.

  • you get the most light out of 4300K after that the colour steals the lumen/candela. lower then 4300K and the light is more "yellow" then white.

  • Not if you use projector headlamps, which focus the light and have cutoff's to keep the light from blinding other motorists. It is illegal to use these kits without using proper projector style headlamp kits. Simply replacing the bulb and mounting a ballast is not enough, Its also Ineffective. Without using HID projector lamps, the light is scattered, and the usefulness lost.

  • lol, y'd u want that? Halogens can produce that colour temp. unless you're looking for light output then they can easily triple halogen bulbs in lumens. I just think most ppl get HIDs for the colour temp, not light output

  • halogens would have a hard time hitting 6k. plus lumens are still below 1200. HID are over 2500.

  • don't mean to be an ass here, but the comment I was replying to said 3000 to 3500K which halogens do produce (some lexus fog lights come with 3000K halogen, they are very yeally). And I believe I did say "unless you're looking for light output"

    Anyways, I think 6000K looks fairly bad, too bluish for my taste, 4300K is just right, and produces just as many lumens as the 4100K bulbs
