I worked at Kay's in the late 80's with Tom Jesse, Tracy Jesse and all of those nuts!! I bussed and washed dishes. Good times for sure. Never missed a parade!!
I grew up 3 houses down from Kays. Worked and met my husband there also. Been at several of the parades besides being in a few with my Girl Scout Troop. But what tops this footage the most was seeing my next door neighbor, Mrs. Lorey and part of my House that I grew up in. Thanks for sharing it.
and if you look carefully, you might see a glimpse of the greenhouses. they are still around also, but the 2 houses are long gone (gone since the mid 70s and now is the church parking lot).
Kay's Kitchen used to have people lined up for fish dinners on Fridays during lent. Who remembers that? I'm 37, so this would have been in the early 80s. I remember that big "V" over the door, but I think the K A Y ' S K I T C H E N letters were gone by then.
I was recently at a wedding at that church at 0:30

The parade went the opposite way that it does now. They're going south on Gratiot.
