  • Ahhh, those were the days! I lived in Michigan for 9 years. I would move back just to find giant yellows like that again!!!

  • i was expecting to see dead sharks..

  • Holy Cow....you guy's sure do know where to find them. Im in Indiana and I've only ever found a few messes like that. I hope to find some this year. I'm stuck at Indiana University. May 8th those mushy's had better look out!!!

  • do they grow in North Carolina?

  • Yes. A friend outside of Ashville told me they call them " May fries". I may visit him to pick next May. E-mail me in April. We'll slay 'em !

  • cool, what region do they grow , and how much could you sell them for.

  • In Northern Michigan we get four varieties that grow from late March to late June. They

sell from $25-70 /lb. fresh. I have been to

Morel Festivals in Indiana and Illinois but have not seen as many of the favored blacks

    as we get.

  • do you eat them?

  • They are the #3 gourmet mushroom in the world.

Any chef anywhere will give you his best entree

for a sack of fresh ones. Blacks have the most

flavor. The large whites are 'sweeter' and

    meatier ( thicker).

  • Great day in the woods! What about his year? Is the season over in No. Mich.?

  • Hey Doc. Heck no, the giant whites are up now. Check out the vids on my mushroom site " videomorelhunting' We're picking major

    poundage !

  • Where is this 'videomorelhunting'? It's june and they are still poppin' up!! Is this normal for you? How late will they go?

  • "videomorelhunting" is my YouTube site for all my latest morel vids. June here in No.

Mich is when the largest variety comes up

:morchella crassipes. Found three 10"ers yesterday. My buddy in Fife Lake said he picked 20lbs in last two days !!!!

  • This is quite normal for us. The bigguns will

be growing near the ash for the next three weeks.

  • Wow. long season. Must be because it stays cool and moist for a longer period of time. I found 'videomorelhunting', fun videos. Are you in the u.p.? Is there a lot of public land to hunt up there?

  • No, I'm below the bridge ( what the Youppers call A Troll ) UP season lasts longer for

black morels. Lots of public land...better

for golden chanterelles in late July/Aug.

  • well you beat me up on the whites i get more than my share but i kill the dark ones alot like your getting loads of them good job can i go shroomin with ya

  • hey those are leeks or ramps at 1:06

  • Lots o'leeks (and ash)

  • You must be the god of morels! Take me out to the morels please!

  • I just can't wait. It's so cool seeing all the baby animals too! Good job!!!
