The thing you were wondering what it was is some type of reservoir that they are either building or had drained for repair. I flew over it the other week and I might have some pictures of it from 4000 feet above it.

Also, near Grand Coulee there is a town called Electric City. It is where the airport is. There is a nice little camping spot just off the runway next to the lake. I haven't camped there but I have landed there and checked out the site. Others say it is a great place to camp.

Awesome! I've done part of that drive. Spent some time on a ranch out near Salmon Idaho. We were about 30 miles from a paved road and flew in & out of camp. I actually flipped my truck a week before I was leaving, and ended upside down in the damn river. Scary day!
