You're not getting a free domain - you are receiving a free SUBdomain. There's a difference. You don't own the domain! Look carefully at dot tk, it clearly states that IF YOU PAY, the domain name is yours legally!
Only problem with free domains is that they could stop providing service anytime. Best way is to just register a domain. They're not expensive at all. And if you're planning on making money with your website, you can just forget about free domains.
