Very informative. Also naive wishful thinking. Food shortages may have been a great excuse to light the powder keg, but the events in Egypt, and the rest of the Middle East, were planned and led by its new would-be rulers. The new tyrrany will be even worse than the old one, as usual.
In all this game, the devil is losing and at the end will be accused of everything because GOD don’t want any rivals. Conclusion: live at the full in the freedom of GOD (praying in a right form, following the INSTRUCTIONS in the Bible - keeping the 10 commandments - including keeping the Saturday as the 7th day etc.) instead of in the incapacity and limited power of devil because he is just a temporary puppet. Jesus Christ is the savior and hope.
50 yrs of military rule not 30 yrs it was an independent food country before military rule to then be dependent on American wheat. food production went down 70% .
Stefan, love your movies! They get so much complex information across in a short period of time. I can't wait for the next ones! Keep up the great work!
Please leave ancient Egypt alone. You don’t understand its history or its science or its culture or its religion. I get the point your trying to make and besides your oversimplification of ideals I would add that the 1 st 3000 of those 6000 years were better than anything we ever seen since. The Greeks have attested to this much. So stick to slow lanes and talk smack about Sara Palin Steal some of Noam Chomsky and make yourself useful.
@nmybox He has explained what the problem is, who causes the problem and how to actually be FREE based on evidence, why wouldn't want to understand and help you fellow men in egypt with philosofy?
Because we all know that Egyptian government is the only form of government ever to exist in the history of humanity, the only form. Hence, why I can say that Somalia is proof that anarcho-capitalism works just as it should.
whilst I support your argument and your passion against tyranny I have to point out to you Egypt was not the first state. In fact there were 2 existing states that were there far before Egypt. Sumer in modern day Iraq and Iilam in modern day Iran. Sumer was far greater and more powerful than Egypt. It was there that for the first time class developed, exploitation, repression and finally ethnic cleansing and displacing. I enjoy your videos alot, please continue on the great work.
Stefbot, I fear your metaphors may distract the average viewer from the message. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the "Grave of statism" one, but in order to make it clearer for the people, you need as much realism as possible. Now, I am of course making a harsh critique, but it's just something that strikes me as non-efficient in getting a message out there. I could be wrong, it all depends on the perspective anyway, so.. yeah. Excellent video as always. I fully support you, great job.
Excellent Reporting! Excellent Points! Egyptian Protesters have already demonstrated what True Leadership is. They should be making "all" the choices. (Period)
I can honestly state I have never seen a video this ridiculous. Humans must be governed, but that doesn't mean the people of a nation state shouldn't govern over there own government. Where the rich are only governed over, never allowed to hold public office of any kind and where the power to protect your liberties rests in the hands of the population. Where no court or President can override the judgment handed down upon its government and business crooks. Let Freedom Ring!
If life isnt completely determined, then we would be acting amoung our desires and their wouldnt be a law there to make us think otherwise. Reproduction and Survivability. What drives all organisms on this earth.
It's apart of animal nature, specificaly mammals to run in packs. People will come together, family, friends etc they will try to obtain as much violent force and they will display their domincance as a pack over others like fucking animals aye. Like thats any better we'll be going backwards. Dont assume that we as humans are morally good, because current laws constrain us from acting the way we would normally act as animals.
@Stefbot. We can truly hope. It's wishful thinking. Thank you for putting forward the thought provoking idea. Each idea you put out there literally creates a whole new world for me.
@Sc0ttPrian asked "do we really need a government to make roads?"
Consider private residential subdivisions. The roads are built privately by land developers, maintained privately by voluntary community associations of property owners, and open to free access for visitors, deliveries, emergency services, etc. No tolls, because free access for others is beneficial to the residents. Local business could do the same in commercial zones, & paytoll private freeways already exist. It CAN be done.
a road exists with 20 houses, 20 families. 14 want to improve the road on their street. 6 don't even tho its to their own advantage. how do you proceed to ensure everyone pulls their own weight? taxes bridges this problem.
@nem700 That's a very good point. I don't have a handy answer for that scenario.
However, the "privately owned & maintained roads" that my comment was referring to had to do with voluntary communities that have neighborhood associations with voluntarily agreed upon rules. Participation in the association is often a requirement, built into the title & deed of the property. If you want to live in those desirable neighborhoods, you have to help pay through dues. There are many around my city.
@nem700 I suppose many people would choose not to be part of those association neighborhoods. Avoiding those properties when purchasing a home would save money. The trade-off would be lower quality roads. This is all fun as a thought experiment, but true libertarian freedom is a fantasy our politicians would never allow anyway.
I'm not totally averse to taxes for this sort of thing. I just wish the money stayed more local, instead of being filtered through state and federal politicians.
@nem700 Apparently 6 families have a different opinion about whether it's to their own advantage. But YOU have the morals of a bully and simply chose to force it on them. Not only that, but you want to make them pay for it.
Taxes are a euphemism, they solve the problem of immoral cowards that won't admit what they are actually doing. You don't have the nerve to admit you are forcing your will on people that want nothing other than to be left the fuck alone.
@Sc0ttPrian Furthermore, those privately owned & maintained roads I mentioned tend to be nicer than state maintained roads. And the money for building & maintenance stays in the hands of local workers. Why send $1.00 to the government so they can waste half of it on other crap and make you beg for the rest? The work is done locally. The money and control should stay local, too.
You answered your own question when you wrote "It would be nice if we could choose where our money goes". :-)
Yet, Egypt WILL choose a leader. Hopefully, it will be a leader they both deserve and need. Will they build a govt based on the natural solidarity of men? No, because every man believes he deserves a little more solidarity than the other man. Why? He doesn't want his neighbor to get more solidarity than him. Its a fear encoded into the human dna by the experiance of millions of years of near starvation. Humans know anarcho-capitalism won't work because there is no history of it working.
@jeffiek Standing in front of your home with guns and clubs doesn't seem like a real peaceful, progressive system. Seems more like the war of all against all. I've never owned a gun in my life and never had to protect my home from invaders. Thank You Democracy. Thank You Social Contract. Over 200 years of success.
@IronicKismet You know that we have WAY more violence than even some countries torn by war, right? The violence in Egypt is NOTHING compared to what we see on our streets here daily.
@tvswnet ummm....have you ever been mugged, shot at,physically attacked, have your money stolen from you? You have to turn off the tv once in a while and take a walk around your block. I have never owned a gun, never had my house broken into, never had my money stolen from me and never been mugged and I have lived in major american urban areas my whole life. According to criminalogists, crime rates have been dropping for years. Most prisoners are in jail for non- violent offenses.
@IronicKismet Yes, I've been victim of violent crime. I do not own a television nor do I watch any sort of tv on the web. I don't know what you're getting at--my assertion is incorrect because it doesn't jibe with your experience? I'm studying criminology, btw... Yes, most prisoners are non-violent; however, our violence statistics are still awful in comparison to most of the planet. Americans don't like to admit that our systems don't work at all (often making things worse).
@tvswnet This was teken from a Washington Post article less than a year ago.
For the third consecutive year, violent crime has declined in the United States, including a 7.2 percent reduction in homicides, preliminary FBI figures for 2009 released Monday show.
Violent crimes decreasaed 0.7% in 2007, an additional 1.9 percent in 2008 and accelerated in 2009 with a 5.5 percent reduction in overall violent crime. The system seems to be working quite well.
its common knowledge figures like those are fiddled with. violent crimes that you and i might consider to be very violent, would not be included because the police and incumbent government want to look good. it might be dubbed as assault for example.
@jeffiek 1800 many major societies succeeded without slavery. The pyramids weren't built by slaves. 1900 humans knew flight was pssible because they have seen birds do it for 100s of 1000s of years. 2000 humans still know anarcho-capitalism won't work beccause there is no history of it working. WHAT IS PAST IS PRELUDE.
Having been to Egypt a little over a year ago, I am thrilled to see that the people have liberated themselves from their previous system. I loved Egypt, and the Egyptians themselves were a huge part of my wonderful experience there. This revolution was a tipping point for me...I've turned off the news for good...I don't need to acknowledge the insanity anymore because I feel optimistic that the collapse of the illusion is beginning.
What happens when you get sick?????? who runs the hospitals????? who pays the doctors, nurses, etc.
Actually this open a very interesting door. Stefan, I believe you mentioned that you have a daughter, what do you do when your daughter gets ill. Let's say your daughter has a very high temp. and it won't come down, she won't eat, drink and is acting very strange, she has a very bad cough and begins to start weeezing.....what do you do??????? now and in a stateless society????
@MrTruthUnleashed -.- Did you see a question mark at the end? i was teasing HeyRuka since i know that shes kinda racist. English is not my native language, so maybe thats why you didnt understand... I wonder if anything i write makes sence LOL
ELLAH ELA LA IL AL LAH, THE QURAN WAS CHANGED THAT CAME FROM QUMRAN VILLAGE AND HIS KINGDOME WAS TAKEN AND HIS LANGUAGE WAS TAKEN OF WHAT YOU CALL JESUSE CHRIST BUT LIKE FINGER PRINT'S THE TAUNG IS LIKE FINGER PRINT WHEN USED FROM THE MOUTH TO SPEAK FROM THE PAST IN THE HIM A LEY'S MOUNTAIN'S EVER REST ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF ELLAH ELA LA IL AL LAH
so they can fead the poodal dog's cat's of fat cat's fat dog's best food so the stock for fat cat's has value like the jew judha judge's who apoint king's bishop's and shop's around the coner and appoint pheron's who come out with crap out of both hole's
Egypt is a straw man. Countries like Sweden and Iceland, while considered "OMG Socialist!!!" to most Americans, Swedes and Icelandics are happy with their arrangment. In fact, their societies are among the least violent in the entire world. Icelandics and Swedes are more happy and content than people in the most laissez-fair country in the world, the US. It doesn't look to me like the state is necessarily the problem.
@SpazzzDog All I did was to contradict your statement that Swedes are happy with how things are. Since I'm a Swede and am not happy with the way my country is governed, I just contradicted your statement. That is not "simple black and white logic", but just logic - pure and simple. Also, I don't consider myself a Libertarian.
@Urkskurk Oh my god that is so hilarious!! Are you all Swedes? Do you speak for all Swedes? Of course not. You're just one individual. I'm talking about the average level of happiness of all Swedes. In that context one example doesn't break the rule.
You Libertarians with your immature logic. An endless source of amusement!
@SpazzzDog Yes, of course I'm only speaking for myself. What I was criticizing was this: "Swedes (...) are happy with their arrangement", where you in other words say that ALL Swedes are happy with their arrangement, which simply isn't true. You lump us all together. Had you said "some", or even "most" I probably wouldn't have commented.
@Urkskurk It looks to me like you're splitting hairs on a youtube comments section that only allows 500 characters. I don't have the space to placate the "not everyone" police, such as yourself. It's a waste of time and hasn't disproved my assertion that some of the happiest and stable societies in the world are socialist and statist in nature. The most dysfunctional societies are the most laissez-fair or dictatorial nations on the planet.
@darkworx666 decentralise government, placing local control under a local council. Then, the local council (answerable to the people within the community) would be responsible and accountable. That might help curb any corruption.
@GMPresents , well this is the case in places like Nigeria where regional gov't have most of the control but they have no chance against the shell corp. which causes a yearly oil spill like in the one in gulf of mex... why? the smaller a gov the less power it has to go against multinational corporations Buying of these local politicians is not as expensive as in say the US. Most govermental theories sound good in the book but that doesn't translate to reality!
When arguing for the abolition of the state, I'm often confronted with the question/argument: "well, if we didn't have government and strived for a society based on voluntarism, then who would maintain the roads, pay for the hospitals and care for the unable? Most people would look out for themselves, rather than contribute. That's why we need government: to ensure that everyone pays their fair share."
Can anyone help me to find an answer to this i.e. "who would maintain the roads?"
@GMPresents The people in Egypt should build their own form of system,,, but in my opposition it should be a individualist society, built on freedom... Where every Men and Women are their own King and Queens... Where the people is sovereign and everybody equal under the land by law,, NOT BY MEN...
And the only purpose of government should be to protect those freedom. But I fear they will adobt som sort of socialism or communism... A saw some Che Guevara posters under the protest.
Egypt has a very high % that can't read and write. Why is Stefan expecting an Intellectual revolution from illiterate people when literate america is selling the bombs? Coocook! I love your work and all Stef but sometimes I don't know on what crack you are when making these bling-bling videos.
@aandras22 ~ I have heard stef say in numerous videos that the change would have to be multigenerational. However ill take greatness of our current reality asap!
Nothing like a perfect system, but in THE REAL WORLD, the PRAGMATIC, ETHICAL approach would be to FIRST promote the election of PEOPLE'S representatives who are fully ACCOUNTABLE. This will do for now. Regardless of how good an idea getting rid of states is, getting all obsessed with 'statism' is lunactic when we are faced with the problems we have.
@nickharvey7 ~ Could you not raise you children with men with guns taking your money? Why would the future for the children be bad with the use of force?
@MrSethAction The nation state can protect the people the USA looks after the people of the USA. Look what happened to the Jewish people when they never had a Jewish state. Were they not helpless?
Retard! The government buys foreign crops because russian wheat is cheaper! even if Egypt was the country you think it is and people and had money people would still mostly buy foreign grain!
@darkworx666 ~ Have you ever been to America? The country with the highest debt ranking and lowest bank account raking in the world(according to the CIA website)? The state is something to "*eyesroll" about to! Proof the USA my county where I was born and live to this day is pretty much fuct and everyone knows here. You should see the bla bla bla back and forth and nothing gets accomplished with our government/state. Very sad situation going on the the USA as well!
@MrSethAction I have lived in the US for a while(1.5years), but I have lived in other countries as well including Romania ,Nigeria and Switzerland and while I agree that your country is in trouble b/c of the bought goverment does not mean anarchy is a better solution. In Nigeria there are places you could call anarchistic and it's not pretty sight... and on that note have YOU ever lived in another country ? Can you compare?
Playing relativism here, freedom is a mirage. Imagine a place with no authority - that would essentially mean - 'everything goes !'.
So two people are free to decide on whatever things they have consensus on ?
Be it even cannibalism (?)
What If one person agrees to be a source of food for another ? (after all cannibalism isn't a new idea).
There has to be some authority to regulate a certain moral standards - you can call it State, Religion or Tribe etc. But without standards it'll be chaos
If the Egyptians do decide to move forward with no centralized leadership, the money controlled media will skew the actual events that are happening there....and there will be agent provocateurs dispatched to incite chaos. The people who control this planet are not going to willingly give up that control.....
It's not the existence of the state that'sm the problem, it's the inability of the people to self-organize in more effective larger groups, that is.
Sure policing the neighborhood is doable, but larger organizations are required to take care of bigger problems. To the extent that the people can self-organize into them while bypassing statism, they can live in a state-free society.
As far as I know, few or no groups have managed that. Yet at least :)
@firuinthehouse Great you say the "state" or statism is not the problem, please provide an example of the state and or statism providing a working solution(sustainable) to societies complex problems. ; )
@usernameted1 My friend I think you didn't get what I'm saying.
In reality, there is no state. No government. There is only a bunch of crooks claiming to be "the government" and telling the rest of us all how to run our lives. If we had the skills and know-how to run them, and to see reality for what it is, we would all simply ignore them and laugh at them.
It is our readiness to believe their lies and take them seriously, that is the problem.
@usernameted1 Priests have always worn weird robes and hats and claimed authority. Intelligent people have always pointed out that they have nothing except some robes and hats (and perhaps some large buildings).
But the uneducated who are ready to believe and obey, make their rule possible.
The problem is not with the power-hungry people claiming authority. It is with us all for playing along, due to not knowing another, better system, or not having the skills / courage to actually apply it.
@usernameted1 What I am suggesting is not the state of course, but precisely self-government, anarchy, and people who have the skills of self-organizing effectively, to solve the problems society faces.
In effect, what the state does is not our problem. Our ability to reverse their brainwashing and to release people from the illusion, that is what is a much better use ouf our time / efforts.
So getting the army man or the police officer to understand that they are following a lie, etc.
@firuinthehouse Hey, my mistake."It's not the existence of the state that's the problem, it's the inability of the people to self-organize in more effective larger groups, that is." I still am having trouble understanding your statement. What are these larger effective groups called that we need to transition to?.The free market(voluntary trade) is pretty big and easily the most effective way to organize a society under the non aggression principal, but maybe I am missing something : )
@usernameted1 Well the name isn't that important, why do you even ask ? Call then what you want :)
From free tribes to corpo-nations they could have any name liked by their members.
This would be going on in a free market of course, once the vast majority of the population sees and understands that that's what's going on anyway already, and they need pay no mind to groups and gangs like police, state and government.
@usernameted1 I'm not sure if my point is clear (sorry it's morning here, maybe I'm not warmed up properly :)
What I am saying the problem is not that we don't have free market, the problem is that we do, yet some small groups claim to have authority (church, state, police, etc) and the rest of us choose to go along, as we see no problem with it.
Any government is a gang, yet for some strange reason it is perceived by most as being somehow legitimate. The problem is not with the gang.
@usernameted1 The gang's job is in fact to continuously attempt to take control. They are doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing, as that is their business model.
The problem is with the rest of us that have allowed this to happen, and consider it of small enough importance to let it continue, when in fact it is completely abnormal.
The problem is not the 1 crazy guy talking about invisible stuff, the problem is with society for considering him sane and taking him seriously :)
@ EVERYONE! : In order to get clarification on & to compare each of the 3 "economic" systems, please go to my channel (click on my screen name), then read about them on the left side of that page (it would actually be alot easier to compare the 3 by copying & pasting on your own page first),...& don't miss the 3 footnotes @ the very bottom. Btw, feel free to copy & paste it ANYWHERE & EVERYWHERE!!!
@igspal Make some fucking videos you lazy son of a bitch :)
People are not here to READ on youtube, if they wanted to read they'd go to the library or some regular text-based site. You want to communicate on youtube, learn to make videos :)
Since I'm all about getting things done I'll even tell you how to do it in 1 hour - Search for "QSK King Sony Vegas Tutorial" and that is all you need.
Steph and followers. Check out my short blog about "identity". It is a hilarious delivery of anarchist wit and wisdom on that topic. Enjoy! Search: (wordpress anampaiseanta identity)
when I "look around my neighborhood" right now, I'm AM taxed involuntarily for the "good of the community" in the form of homeowner's association dues, etc.
I thought the same thing. They may have toppled one dictator, but the banking system and everything is still in tact. All you are doing is bringing in another person who will maintain the status quo.
Sorry Egypt. You need to print your own money and rely on tourism as a source of income. You'll need to continue to import food, but you live in a desert.. unless you produce something someone else wants to buy, you will most likely be poor. MOVE.
@Kiddolinfen09 (speachless) I don't have it in me to reply to your comment. it's so out there & COMPLETELY WRONG & disinformed it's just not worth it.
Ps. Couldn't even continue listening to you (have already listened to ENOUGH of your USELESS rambling on two of your videos re the Zeitgeist Movement), just CAN'T WASTE ANYMORE OF MY TIME (am TOO busy, working/SLAVING my life away to be able to AFFORD BARE NECESSITIES)!!!
@stefbot First thought that came into my mind while watching this video...HOW THE HELL CAN YOU ACT LIKE YOU GIVE A SHIT ABOUT EGYPT WHATSOEVER, WHEN YOU DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO TALK ABOUT ANY THIRD WORLD COUNTRY DURING YOUR DEBATE ON V-RADIO, AND, YOU STATED THAT YOU DIDN'T CARE ABOUT THE END-RESULT, WHEN REFERRING TO A FREE MARKET SYSTEM (also while speaking in that same debate)?!?!?!?!? PHONY (to say the least)!!!!!!!!!!
The price of capitalism you fool. As if the US government didn't put that tyrant in power. As if global capitalism does not depend on stable foreign markets to exploit. As if these 'stable foreign markets' don't depend on US military hegemony. As if capitalism has ever or can even exist without a state. What year was wealth of nations published? As if the modern state and capitalism have ever been two separate entities. You live in a pseudo intellectual fantasy world.
The US government is a state(needless to say). Ergo, the price of _statism_, "you fool". You are mixing up two different terms: capitalism (which requires a market free of violent state intervention) and corporatism (which means a state is in control of the markets). "Capitalism" an entity? What are you on? It is an idea.
You can play stupid semantics games all you want, but that won't help you. Do you have any rational arguments?
@Fathoms2004 It is sometimes hard to figure out when a pro-state comment is meant ironically. Nothing he said after all is actually different from what pro-state people in effect say.
@nottingham2222 Are the bullies with badges or this injustice system (paid from money stolen at gunpoint) keeping any kind of order now? Our prisons are overflowing with nonviolent offenders while the violent criminals repeat their crimes so often that they have been labeled career criminals and above-the-law police brutality has reached pandemic levels. Who says we need to be kept in order by violent thugs anyway?
@AndyWright68 US prisons are overflowing because of bad laws and policies not bad police. Please provide your evidence for "pandemic levels" of police brutality. Every profession has their bad apples. The police are no exception. Egyptian "police" are run by an evil dictator so of course they are going to be brutal. If the police are run under decent policies and oversight you wont have the problem you mentioned. Also what do you about thieves, rapist and murders if there is no police or courts.
@nottingham2222 Bad laws? So if they are bad then why do the cops enforce them? Not every profession carries badges, guns and the right to use violent force on people. The cops are absolutely the exception. Cops have the highest rates of domestic violence, divorce, child abuse, drug use, alcoholism, suicide and murder suicide. There is no way you can compare these kind of dysfunctional sociopaths to other professions. If the cops did not exist we would not have the problems we have.
@nottingham2222 Privately funded police, defence agencies, private courts. I also imagine there would be a concealed firearms policy allowing people to defend themselves.
These are just ruff ideas though, It might work out differently.
well that would be nice if it wasn't for the fact that religion in this case Islam would by default set up a state governed by Sharia etc.. much like the fall of Rome saw the rise of the Christendom and the horrible atrocities and blood letting in it's name... i personally think atheism has to have a greater population % in order to increase the probability of a rational, peaceful and voluntary society...
Egypt is the way it is because the same 1000 families OWNS MOST OF THE COUNTRY whilst minimum wage is well kept to minimal...But Stefan is right in one sense: Self-reliance, or the lack of it, has created in Egypt a dependent class as large as it's ruling kleptocratic elite.
@411American All that would happen is that the "assistants" and "advisers" would be the only ones who know what's going on. They would in effect run the joint.
@newperve People would still have to pass a vote what is suggested by the assistant's and advise the people
Big power plays would be stopped large corporatism would be crushed , Mom and Pop would have their store back and people would be of service to people instead of corporations.
@411American How would corporatism be stopped? With elections every 6 months candidates would have to be getting donations constantly. Direct democracy would mean the same tricks used to convince people to vote for politicians who favor bad polices would be used to convince them to vote for the bad policies directly. Considering that people honestly believed that a 2000+ page law was good for them why would you believe they understand any policy well enough to vote on it?
@newperve Candidates coming up with the money or big corporation lobbyist - Is a service no longer worth
being without money? That would be wonderful and a TRUE SERVICE without conditions attached for a country instead of a corporation. How much does it cost YOU to vote? The billions spent on main stream media would cost a Pennies the internet to communicate far better than MSM, look at us now.
@411American So you assume because there isn't money there isn't a way to use resources and organisation to propagandise. Sure there isn't. My vote costs far more than it's effect on policies and political structure will ever be worth. Sacrificing the immense benefits of specilaistation that money enables so that organisers of large scale groups find it slightly harder to rip us off is silly.
a lot of these states fell but fell by the hand of interfering countrys like the usa if the usa never helped the system to fail to prove there system rite
Best we all get prepared for an economic famine, ask ourselves where do we get our ethics from? and look for alternatives to the way we have been governed/brainwashed/conditioned.
I am a statist but that is a pretty piss poor criticism of a non state society. I have my own but you, from what I can gather from your comment, don't even know the basics.
@IndividualAutonomy aha. i'm not into these ego-battles that go on on youtube. if you want to make a point to have a mini debate on, go ahead. these faggy kind of lines don't impress me.
so please, tell me how in today's context, egypt could work without a state? that means lower specialization of labour, and how would those people get by when no company would want to offer their services, seeing as they don't have a monetary system.
you should pwn me fast seeing as i don't know the basics.
This has nothing to do with an ego battle. Barely anyone will see this comment and these are old debating points when I was a market anarchist or whatever you want to call it so it is not like it is that enjoyable. However, a lack of a state does not be a lower specialization of labor. A state does not provide the only labour source. State services would be privatized and voluntaryily collectivized for collective action. For monetary look into competiting currencies.
Very informative. Also naive wishful thinking. Food shortages may have been a great excuse to light the powder keg, but the events in Egypt, and the rest of the Middle East, were planned and led by its new would-be rulers. The new tyrrany will be even worse than the old one, as usual.

whilst I support your argument and your passion against tyranny I have to point out to you Egypt was not the first state.

It's apart of animal nature, specificaly mammals to run in packs. People will come together, family, friends etc they will try to obtain as much violent force and they will display their domincance as a pack over others like fucking animals aye. Like thats any better we'll be going backwards. Dont assume that we as humans are morally good, because current laws constrain us from acting the way we would normally act as animals.

if someone doesnt want help, they dont have to pay. if they dont want firemen to water down their house, they dont have to pay for it.
it would be nice if we could choose where our money goes, and cannot use them without pay.
though, roads are important.. but do we really need a government to make roads?
Sc0ttPrian 11 months ago
@Sc0ttPrian asked "do we really need a government to make roads?"
Consider private residential subdivisions. The roads are built privately by land developers, maintained privately by voluntary community associations of property owners, and open to free access for visitors, deliveries, emergency services, etc. No tolls, because free access for others is beneficial to the residents. Local business could do the same in commercial zones, & paytoll private freeways already exist. It CAN be done.
rmcdaniel423 11 months ago
@rmcdaniel423
a road exists with 20 houses, 20 families. 14 want to improve the road on their street. 6 don't even tho its to their own advantage. how do you proceed to ensure everyone pulls their own weight? taxes bridges this problem.
nem700 10 months ago
@nem700 That's a very good point. I don't have a handy answer for that scenario.
However, the "privately owned & maintained roads" that my comment was referring to had to do with voluntary communities that have neighborhood associations with voluntarily agreed upon rules. Participation in the association is often a requirement, built into the title & deed of the property. If you want to live in those desirable neighborhoods, you have to help pay through dues. There are many around my city.
rmcdaniel423 10 months ago
@nem700 I suppose many people would choose not to be part of those association neighborhoods. Avoiding those properties when purchasing a home would save money. The trade-off would be lower quality roads. This is all fun as a thought experiment, but true libertarian freedom is a fantasy our politicians would never allow anyway.
I'm not totally averse to taxes for this sort of thing. I just wish the money stayed more local, instead of being filtered through state and federal politicians.
rmcdaniel423 10 months ago
@nem700 Apparently 6 families have a different opinion about whether it's to their own advantage. But YOU have the morals of a bully and simply chose to force it on them. Not only that, but you want to make them pay for it.
Taxes are a euphemism, they solve the problem of immoral cowards that won't admit what they are actually doing. You don't have the nerve to admit you are forcing your will on people that want nothing other than to be left the fuck alone.
jeffiek 3 months ago

IronicKismet 11 months ago
@IronicKismet You know that we have WAY more violence than even some countries torn by war, right? The violence in Egypt is NOTHING compared to what we see on our streets here daily.
tvswnet 11 months ago
@tvswnet ummm....have you ever been mugged, shot at,physically attacked, have your money stolen from you? You have to turn off the tv once in a while and take a walk around your block. I have never owned a gun, never had my house broken into, never had my money stolen from me and never been mugged and I have lived in major american urban areas my whole life. According to criminalogists, crime rates have been dropping for years. Most prisoners are in jail for non- violent offenses.
IronicKismet 11 months ago
@IronicKismet Yes, I've been victim of violent crime. I do not own a television nor do I watch any sort of tv on the web. I don't know what you're getting at--my assertion is incorrect because it doesn't jibe with your experience? I'm studying criminology, btw... Yes, most prisoners are non-violent; however, our violence statistics are still awful in comparison to most of the planet. Americans don't like to admit that our systems don't work at all (often making things worse).
tvswnet 11 months ago
@tvswnet This was teken from a Washington Post article less than a year ago.
For the third consecutive year, violent crime has declined in the United States, including a 7.2 percent reduction in homicides, preliminary FBI figures for 2009 released Monday show.
Violent crimes decreasaed 0.7% in 2007, an additional 1.9 percent in 2008 and accelerated in 2009 with a 5.5 percent reduction in overall violent crime. The system seems to be working quite well.
IronicKismet 11 months ago
@IronicKismet The system is working well? Hmm...we'll just agree to disagree then. Take care...
tvswnet 11 months ago
@IronicKismet
its common knowledge figures like those are fiddled with. violent crimes that you and i might consider to be very violent, would not be included because the police and incumbent government want to look good. it might be dubbed as assault for example.

SpazzzDog 1 year ago
@SpazzzDog Yeah, well I'm a Swede and I'm not exactly "happy with our arrangement". Just to let you know.
Urkskurk 11 months ago
@Urkskurk Oh, how I love the simple black and white logic of Libertarians.
SpazzzDog 11 months ago
@SpazzzDog All I did was to contradict your statement that Swedes are happy with how things are. Since I'm a Swede and am not happy with the way my country is governed, I just contradicted your statement. That is not "simple black and white logic", but just logic - pure and simple. Also, I don't consider myself a Libertarian.
Urkskurk 11 months ago
@Urkskurk Oh my god that is so hilarious!! Are you all Swedes? Do you speak for all Swedes? Of course not. You're just one individual. I'm talking about the average level of happiness of all Swedes. In that context one example doesn't break the rule.
You Libertarians with your immature logic. An endless source of amusement!
SpazzzDog 11 months ago
@SpazzzDog Yes, of course I'm only speaking for myself. What I was criticizing was this: "Swedes (...) are happy with their arrangement", where you in other words say that ALL Swedes are happy with their arrangement, which simply isn't true. You lump us all together. Had you said "some", or even "most" I probably wouldn't have commented.
Urkskurk 11 months ago
@Urkskurk It looks to me like you're splitting hairs on a youtube comments section that only allows 500 characters. I don't have the space to placate the "not everyone" police, such as yourself. It's a waste of time and hasn't disproved my assertion that some of the happiest and stable societies in the world are socialist and statist in nature. The most dysfunctional societies are the most laissez-fair or dictatorial nations on the planet.
SpazzzDog 11 months ago
how do you keep the contractors from forming an oligarchy/monopoly? like in the US or Russia?
darkworx666 1 year ago
@darkworx666 decentralise government, placing local control under a local council. Then, the local council (answerable to the people within the community) would be responsible and accountable. That might help curb any corruption.
GMPresents 1 year ago
@GMPresents , well this is the case in places like Nigeria where regional gov't have most of the control but they have no chance against the shell corp. which causes a yearly oil spill like in the one in gulf of mex... why? the smaller a gov the less power it has to go against multinational corporations Buying of these local politicians is not as expensive as in say the US. Most govermental theories sound good in the book but that doesn't translate to reality!
darkworx666 11 months ago
When arguing for the abolition of the state, I'm often confronted with the question/argument: "well, if we didn't have government and strived for a society based on voluntarism, then who would maintain the roads, pay for the hospitals and care for the unable? Most people would look out for themselves, rather than contribute. That's why we need government: to ensure that everyone pays their fair share."
Can anyone help me to find an answer to this i.e. "who would maintain the roads?"
GMPresents 1 year ago
@GMPresents The people in Egypt should build their own form of system,,, but in my opposition it should be a individualist society, built on freedom... Where every Men and Women are their own King and Queens... Where the people is sovereign and everybody equal under the land by law,, NOT BY MEN...
And the only purpose of government should be to protect those freedom. But I fear they will adobt som sort of socialism or communism... A saw some Che Guevara posters under the protest.

@firuinthehouse Great you say the "state" or statism is not the problem, please provide an example of the state and or statism providing a working solution(sustainable) to societies complex problems. ; )
usernameted1 1 year ago
@usernameted1 My friend I think you didn't get what I'm saying.
In reality, there is no state. No government. There is only a bunch of crooks claiming to be "the government" and telling the rest of us all how to run our lives. If we had the skills and know-how to run them, and to see reality for what it is, we would all simply ignore them and laugh at them.
It is our readiness to believe their lies and take them seriously, that is the problem.
firuinthehouse 1 year ago
@usernameted1 Priests have always worn weird robes and hats and claimed authority. Intelligent people have always pointed out that they have nothing except some robes and hats (and perhaps some large buildings).
But the uneducated who are ready to believe and obey, make their rule possible.
The problem is not with the power-hungry people claiming authority. It is with us all for playing along, due to not knowing another, better system, or not having the skills / courage to actually apply it.
firuinthehouse 1 year ago
@usernameted1 What I am suggesting is not the state of course, but precisely self-government, anarchy, and people who have the skills of self-organizing effectively, to solve the problems society faces.
In effect, what the state does is not our problem. Our ability to reverse their brainwashing and to release people from the illusion, that is what is a much better use ouf our time / efforts.
So getting the army man or the police officer to understand that they are following a lie, etc.
firuinthehouse 1 year ago
@firuinthehouse Hey, my mistake."It's not the existence of the state that's the problem, it's the inability of the people to self-organize in more effective larger groups, that is." I still am having trouble understanding your statement. What are these larger effective groups called that we need to transition to?.The free market(voluntary trade) is pretty big and easily the most effective way to organize a society under the non aggression principal, but maybe I am missing something : )
usernameted1 1 year ago
@usernameted1 Well the name isn't that important, why do you even ask ? Call then what you want :)
From free tribes to corpo-nations they could have any name liked by their members.
This would be going on in a free market of course, once the vast majority of the population sees and understands that that's what's going on anyway already, and they need pay no mind to groups and gangs like police, state and government.
firuinthehouse 1 year ago
@usernameted1 I'm not sure if my point is clear (sorry it's morning here, maybe I'm not warmed up properly :)
What I am saying the problem is not that we don't have free market, the problem is that we do, yet some small groups claim to have authority (church, state, police, etc) and the rest of us choose to go along, as we see no problem with it.
Any government is a gang, yet for some strange reason it is perceived by most as being somehow legitimate. The problem is not with the gang.
firuinthehouse 1 year ago
@usernameted1 The gang's job is in fact to continuously attempt to take control. They are doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing, as that is their business model.
The problem is with the rest of us that have allowed this to happen, and consider it of small enough importance to let it continue, when in fact it is completely abnormal.
The problem is not the 1 crazy guy talking about invisible stuff, the problem is with society for considering him sane and taking him seriously :)

As if the modern state and capitalism have ever been two separate entities. You live in a pseudo intellectual fantasy world.

@crud4

@frostyuk2007 Anti-dictatorship might be a better term than pro-democracy.
newperve 1 year ago
@Fathoms2004 It is sometimes hard to figure out when a pro-state comment is meant ironically. Nothing he said after all is actually different from what pro-state people in effect say.

@nocturnalc lol but its not out of place on this forum which advocates privatizing everything, a counterweight?

@grumpone the relation of a boss to employee is equivalent to a fascist dictatorship

One question Stefbot. How do maintain law & order in an anarchy?
nottingham2222 1 year ago
@nottingham2222 Are the bullies with badges or this injustice system (paid from money stolen at gunpoint) keeping any kind of order now? Our prisons are overflowing with nonviolent offenders while the violent criminals repeat their crimes so often that they have been labeled career criminals and above-the-law police brutality has reached pandemic levels. Who says we need to be kept in order by violent thugs anyway?
AndyWright68 1 year ago 2
@AndyWright68 US prisons are overflowing because of bad laws and policies not bad police. Please provide your evidence for "pandemic levels" of police brutality. Every profession has their bad apples. The police are no exception. Egyptian "police" are run by an evil dictator so of course they are going to be brutal. If the police are run under decent policies and oversight you wont have the problem you mentioned. Also what do you about thieves, rapist and murders if there is no police or courts.
nottingham2222 1 year ago
@nottingham2222 Bad laws? So if they are bad then why do the cops enforce them? Not every profession carries badges, guns and the right to use violent force on people. The cops are absolutely the exception. Cops have the highest rates of domestic violence, divorce, child abuse, drug use, alcoholism, suicide and murder suicide. There is no way you can compare these kind of dysfunctional sociopaths to other professions. If the cops did not exist we would not have the problems we have.
AndyWright68 1 year ago

They would in effect run the joint.
newperve 1 year ago
@newperve People would still have to pass a vote what is suggested by the assistant's and advise the people
Big power plays would be stopped large corporatism would be crushed , Mom and Pop would have their store back and people would be of service to people instead of corporations.
411American 1 year ago
@411American How would corporatism be stopped? With elections every 6 months candidates would have to be getting donations constantly. Direct democracy would mean the same tricks used to convince people to vote for politicians who favor bad polices would be used to convince them to vote for the bad policies directly. Considering that people honestly believed that a 2000+ page law was good for them why would you believe they understand any policy well enough to vote on it?
newperve 1 year ago
@newperve Candidates coming up with the money or big corporation lobbyist - Is a service no longer worth
being without money? That would be wonderful and a TRUE SERVICE without conditions attached for a country instead of a corporation. How much does it cost YOU to vote? The billions spent on main stream media would cost a Pennies the internet to communicate far better than MSM, look at us now.
411American 1 year ago
@411American So you assume because there isn't money there isn't a way to use resources and organisation to propagandise. Sure there isn't. My vote costs far more than it's effect on policies and political structure will ever be worth. Sacrificing the immense benefits of specilaistation that money enables so that organisers of large scale groups find it slightly harder to rip us off is silly.

Best we all get prepared for an economic famine, ask ourselves where do we get our ethics from? and look for alternatives to the way we have been governed/brainwashed/conditioned.

at first i thought i'd make an intelligent comment, but the quality of your ideas don't deserve legitimate criticism.
the only cultures that actually do well without state are hunter gatherer cultures... are you proposing that?
i'm amazed every day at how childish some intelligent people can get.
Yeah, the state can do crazy shit. It also does a lot of good shit. and for better or worse, you can't have civilization without state.

@De4sher
I am a statist but that is a pretty piss poor criticism of a non state society. I have my own but you, from what I can gather from your comment, don't even know the basics.
IndividualAutonomy 1 year ago
@IndividualAutonomy aha. i'm not into these ego-battles that go on on youtube. if you want to make a point to have a mini debate on, go ahead. these faggy kind of lines don't impress me.
so please, tell me how in today's context, egypt could work without a state? that means lower specialization of labour, and how would those people get by when no company would want to offer their services, seeing as they don't have a monetary system.
you should pwn me fast seeing as i don't know the basics.
De4sher 1 year ago
@De4sher

@IndividualAutonomy no man, i won't look into anything, i'm too lazy for that
