i don't think it's at all about being mainstream or exploited or any of that stuff. i think if someone makes really sincere, meaningful music that is straight from their heart and soul and puts everything into it the way jonsi does, it will be amazing and good no matter what and still give you chills. if people want to jump on the bandwagon, fine, but i'm not opposed to more people being opened up to the happiness jonsi gives me.
I love how there are so many versions of these songs. Whether its with a whole orchestra layered over it, or whether he plays it on the crappiest guitar i have ever seen, the songs are pure beauty
And Rebbcca Black has 66,823,226 views...but actually...im glad, It's like Jónsi is our own little treat for people like us out of the mainstream, who know what true music is, the kind that makes you feel with all your heart, forgetting the bad, and gives you an indescribable rush throughout your body that leaves you with chills. and if he had a million view he would just be exploited with a bunch of posers jumping on the bandwagon. UGH! don't know what I'd do... I'd lose hope in the world.
@GmonkeyJ777 So agree with you! There are times where I would let my friends listen to Jonsi songs and they were like "You listen to this kind of songs?" and they were like no thanks... But I feel glad either. Cause yeah, I feel exclusive, listening to such great masterpieces from Jonsi heh :P
When you see the popular musicians, you only see liars and actors, who only do this for money. And this makes me sad. If you want to listen to great music, you have to search like three hours in the internet to find a genius like Jónsi. Today he is one of the only TRUE Musicians, who do this for love. With Thom Yorke.
Thumbs up for Radiohead (Thom Yorke), Sigur Rós (Jónsi, Jónsi & Alex) and for a lot of love. Keep Growing (:
I love how this captures what true musicians like him do when they create a song.
They discover an instrument, they pick it up, and then they play with the sound. Soon, they could feel this magical substance run through their fingers, run through the body, come out from the heart, from the voice, into words you can't understand..
It's peaceful. Like water running through a stream. But it is something else running through the soul
Jónsi is an amazing person. i loved his album "Go" it was so beautiful although it was a bit weird for me to listen to him sing an album mainly in English.
..but you know that Jónsi is only playing this because he's procrastinating cleaning up that mess.
I remember when i was first introduced to Sigur ros and jonsi , too think that it was coz one of thier songs was played on never mind the buzzcocks haha. But im so glad as i couldnt see how i could of went on without them in my life now :)
does someone knows what instrument is he playing? thanks : )
