but you can do the same thing with the front strut tower bar. a little cutting and drilling and you can do the same thing. they go for around 30 bucks at the dealer. that way you have an actual strut bar as a strut bar instead of a sway bar acting like a strut bar
ive been told the same thing as well...but every piece of metal will bend to some extent....and before i put the strut bar on and i put all of my weight on top of it (250) and it didnt flex one bit that i could see or feel...some sways bars are more flexible than other no doubt...the rear sway bar i have on the car would bend no problem....but in my case, the sway bar i turned into a strut bar in this video i could not get to noticeably bend
Isn't a sway bar made of spring steel which flex's under pressure which is the opposite of what you want a strut bar to do? Just wondering as thats what I was told at Performance Improvements here in town when I asked, perhaps they were trying to sell me something more expensive.
@timramich on this car? that could very well be possible, but i still showed you how to make a strut bar out of a old sway bar..you can do exactly what i did to another sway bar and if its the correct width bolt it right up like a strut bar with out buying a strut bar or extra piping...
@timramich for this vehicle, if you were to buy a strut bar thats exactly where it mounts..you cant get to the top of the strut towers...on a different application where the top of the mount is accessible this modification would still work
nice idea and video, good job

It's not a strut bar then, and likely accomplishes nothing but a placebo effect.

This didn't even end up bolting to any strut mounts, just some light sheet metal that's lightly tacked near the strut towers. WTF?
