@DesertSmeagle get the hf100. cheaper. no need for build in memory. inless you like to use cables and all when you can easily plug in the flash chard right into the cumputer
OK....i have this shitty little sony webbie cam that is broken and i need a new camera...i need a camera that isnt all shaky and grainy, and just records like a mini dv or older Hi8 camera..no shaking or grainy bullshit with those..what doesnt have shaky grainy bullshit? thats under 550$
Camcorders where made to shoot videos not take photos. :D Still image capture is just an additional function for those who want a two in one gadget. I'd suggest getting a DSLR for shooting still images, they do a remarkable job. Great review on the camera. Now I know what to get. Thanks.
I believe sony (HDR-CX100) is the way to go. One of the best cameras I have. It cost $500. I have an more expensive camera from Canon, but the quality isn't oh-so that good. I don't believe the interface is as important as the performance and quality. So for me, It's what the end result will be.

Yeah, seriously that guy saying "Unh" all the time is really annoying... I hope that he somehow sees this message and feels self concious for a few minutes having been called out... Faggot.
The last point was a little dumb to lose points over... nit-picking 'picture' mode shots? C'mon. I think those were just sympathy points for Sony.
And personally I would have docked Sony 2 points for the stupid proprietary Pro Duo format. Those stupid things cost 2.5x the amount of SDHC! Not an insignificant cost when you're putting in 16GB+ sized storage cards.
Get the HF100 instead. Cheaper, same quality as HF10.
Built in memory is not convenient anyway, because you'll need cables. Better to use the cartridges and plug them into your card reader or just straight into the laptop if it has a built in card reader, which most of them do now.
camcorderinfo(dot)com rates the Canon's the highest.
Canon's okay, a little too much expensive. I'd go with Sony because obviously you want quality and on-camera effects, for a decent price. Canon's nice, but Sony and Panasonic ARE boss. You say it, tryskateboarding001.
can anyone help please,i just got this cam and i got a windows vista and i dont know how to find the vids N put them on my computer. am i doing something rong?
i understand comparing the iphone with the n95, the DS with the PSP, but this is stupid. these camcorders are allmost identical... stupid show, they ran out of things to compare. lol
I have a sony (mini dv) and a vixia hf10 , sony doesn't get the colors right , and stinks big time in low light . if you want good quality you gotta spend over 3 thou
I agree. However for those who have a budget, HF100 with a 8GB or 16gb (or two 8GB SDHC Class 6 SD cards) would be the way to go. With the money saved, you can even get some accessories and extra extended batteries for your camera!
My HDR is fucking incredible. And i'm in the midst of gathering up mad footage from all of my friends for some videos that will be dropping in the very near future. Sony and Panasonic are boss. End of story.
I have the Canon HF 10. This camera is truly a Modern Marvel! I still can't believe all the features and high quality packed into such a small and LIGHT weight camera.
I too have the HF10, and I LOVE IT. I went to Best Buy to get it, andI saw the CX7 next to it. I almost went with it because I saw 1080p and more internal memory. I decided to go with Canon though, because I had already done my homework on it. After watching this video, i'm so glad I didn't go with the CX7.
I found it really helpful , the type of card they use , the dumb touch screen on sony , the full hd missing on sony , that's the important shit . better still performance on sony , come on , you gotta listen
the quality is what matter to me the most, so id probably go with the sony

The actual word camcorder was created by combining Video camera and video recorder. So yes it actually is supposed to take pictures as well.

No surprise here. When it comes to cameras, Canon is king. (although Nikon is quite a bit of a competitor when it comes to DSLR cameras)
