@DoWnEdByRiFlE --- actually, the phone was turned, but the GPS locaton is off. Finally got a hold of the person that lives in the home and they say they don't have it (nice old chinese couple)... The GPS on this is not perfect. I wish it were that easy but it is not.... BY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE --------- not we are left to go knocking door-by-door in this area to see if we strike gold :)

Just lost my iPhone and I was able to locate the house of where it was (not to mention they only turned the phone on once since picking it up). We went to the house, all their lights were on, even TV, they wouldn't come to the door.... and then after about 5 minutes they shut everything off... SUSPECT... we went back this morning, dogs were in the backyard, they are barking at us, all of a sudden dogs get called in, and people still don't answer the door...

I left my iPhone on the table at uni by accident and someone took it. He had many many opportunities to hand it in, or pick the phone up when I tried calling it but he didnt. Then he turned it off by the time I got home to try and use the find my iPhone app. You can locate it at iCloud.com by the way. As soon as the guy turned it back on I got the address and drove to it. Okay. So this Thursday my iPod touch 32gb 3rd generation got stolen in a locker room, I was so dumb and i didnt put the lock on, but luckly i upgraded my iPod to 5.0 version and it has iCloud in it, and so i had iPhone tracker. My iPods name used to be "Tim'S Ipod" but that person changed it to his his name, and when he used wifi i tracked down my iPod and adress he lived, i gave all information to school security (i printed the screen) and well now luckly i'm getting it back on monday.

'Find My iPhone' did absolutely no good when my son's iPhone was stolen. The first thing the thief did was turn the phone off. When he turned it back on, he was evidently able to break the passcode with one of the available computer programs. Then he turned the 'Find My iPhone' app off. The only way we were able to track him was through Sprint GPS locator. Still, the cops were not able to specifically track the thief. Unfortunately the thief can still use it as an iPod.
