Why don't they have a second floor, but only against the perimeter, so that if anything happens they can take non lethal action from above if necessary? That would keep the guards safe, and the inmates won't feel intruded, since no guards are in the room unless of an emergency.

I just love when a civilian talks crap when they have no idea of what really goes on inside a prison. There is protocall that has to be followed for the safety of the Officers, Inmates, and civilian staff. You also have to remember that these shows edit the film for "shock value". You have no idea of what it takes to run a penal institution or the amount of danger involved everyday. You just run your mouth and say stupid, uneducated crap. You want them locked up, just not near where you live.

from 2003 to 2007 i was incarcerated 4 inmates were murdered while i was there,i got in at 72kg did weights and boxing and got out at 112kgs and just did everything right its a shame some prisoners cant....

This "correctional" system is a disgrace. The "correctional" officers, a.k.a, guards, are almost entirely worthless. When they are really needed -- like to intervene on behalf of a dying inmate -- they are safely tucked away picking their noses. When they are really NOT needed -- like when they are humiliating inmates through cross gender strip searching and shower and toilet monitoring -- they are everywhere. Seriously, what exactly does a CO do?
