@linkoninja total newb. you use the c-stick when your left directional stick is being used for DI. that way you can do opposing direction commands in the air while taking full control of your character. for example, with fox - short hop, c-stick up[for a u-air] - which you can't do with the left analog 'cause you'll jump, and you also need it free to fast fall. get it?
@CutMet if you fastfall after the attack you may not get the full attack and for frame heavy attacks the attack may not finish it all depends on your timing...
@ApocalypticBliss what thuh? I completely disagree because fast falling after the attack frame allows the entire move to be finished as of where fast falling before cuts the attack frame out because like some characters like captain falcon, you need to wait for his second kick in his Nair and Dr. Mario where the longer his Nair is held the more damage it gives. And same with Roy's Nair, his second slash is like Captain Falcon's Second kick.
Well since the SHFFL only works in SSBM and to an extent SSB. I'm going to assume that you mean is it easier to do it with a nintendo controller or a third party controller.
I used to have a small third party gamecube controller and the SHFFL was easier to pull off on it because all of the buttons were squished together. Compared to the conventional gamecube controller which is slightly larger.
Of course people with big hands may find that the standard controller is easier, since the third party controllers are too small for them. The conventional gamecube controllers are also a lot more durable so you won't have to go get new controllers all the time. Just go with what you are comfortable with.
Yea there will be no more L-cancel apparently, the lag on some aerials is lowered though. Also it should be possible to auto-cancel some aerials and without L-cancel this should become very important.
Like Jujumasta said, in every tournament (that I've heard of) the C-Stick is allowed. I've never heard of a tournament banning the C-Stick. The only tournament that I can think of that would ban C-stick are those small tournaments you find at Gamestop's or other game stores. And that is because the players call anything that works cheap.
could you slow down the video of the hand motions, or explain what buttons you press in order? I think it would be more helpful if you did it on training in 1/4 or 1/2 time.
lol I remembered that you used a claw grip, after thinking about it I added a reference since it gives easy access to all buttons making some moves possibly easier.
Your fastfall is a bit slow, smash borther. Press down a few frames earlier for further perfection =)

I use R too, because I'm right handed and I can think faster if I use R.
I also saw you dashdancing, but I don't understand why people do it. What's so good about dashdancing opposed to just standing there?
godalmightywtf 2 years ago
well i dance dash cuz it negates the lag when you try and grab someone. The main tech you really need to to know how to L-cancel.

I learned a lot from this vid, but still have some questions; what's the order of shffling?
After the short hop do you attk or l-cancel, I know the last thing you do is free fall, right?
Thx
winter4ice 2 years ago
It's Short hop then fast fall then l-cancel. The order is where the Acronym SHFFL comes from.
I personally Short Hop, attack, fastfall, then l-cancel.
Although some people short hop, fastfall, attack then l-cancel.

can you make another vid like this showing how to moonwalk?
xiaonomercy1 4 years ago
I would but I never actually learned how to moonwalk. >_> maybe I can get my friend to do one for you. I'll message you if we get it up.
CutMet 4 years ago
alright thanks!
xiaonomercy1 4 years ago
hylianlord/zhu has one made, it's probably better than anything we could make.
Jujumasta 3 years ago
but of course, that's without the hand movement. there's a thread on SWF that has diagrams of how to do one.
Jujumasta 3 years ago
thanks much xD but do you think this will apply to ssbb at all?
zhul4nder 4 years ago
I heard that based on the Brawl demos SHFFLing is only a bit different so the basic movements should be the same.
CutMet 4 years ago
yes, but i heard that there is no more L-cancel too, so shffle will be slowed down if there isn't another technique like that...
Chris3Bros 4 years ago
Yea there will be no more L-cancel apparently, the lag on some aerials is lowered though. Also it should be possible to auto-cancel some aerials and without L-cancel this should become very important.

I'll heard, from a friend: it not allowed to use the c-stick(the jellow thing) in tournaments, so I doesn't use it anymore..
but I'm not sure if I should listen to my friend so I ask.. Is it allowed to use it in tournaments?
Samus213 4 years ago
Yes.

sandrodiaz 4 years ago
Not including the joystick movements I do,
First Five SHFFL's:X, A, R.
Last Three SHFFL's:X, C-stick Down, R.
If you still don't get it tell me and I'll try to upload a slowed down version.
CutMet 4 years ago
I'm starting to get it, but when do you want to hit the trigger? As you land or just before you land?
sandrodiaz 4 years ago
and does it matter if you push the trigger all the way down or not?
sandrodiaz 4 years ago
You need to push the trigger all the way down, and you hit R just before you land.
