  • why didnt you buy before, where do u keep it its too noisy ?

  • @hksification It's in the basement and the wall is reinforced where it's mounted. Yeah I can get loud that's why I only hit it when the wife is completly awake!

  • @bigragu thanks for replying, nice hair btw

  • Good tutorial, never knew about having to shift the weight on the feet

  • @7rancisco1 Yeah. just like if you were fighting. plus it move your body to get in position to hit the bag cleaner. Thank you for your time!

  • good video. i see you have the everlast adjustable speed bag platform, did you have any trouble with the swivel? or vibration troubles?

  • @kiangwrx the swivel stripped out after about 200 3min rounds! The friggin bag flew off and almost smashed me in the face! lol! It grazed me and I was so p*ssed! I had to cool off for a sec! No problems with vibration though. I tighten it every couple of times I use it.

  • Enjoyed that mate your a legend :) Have you see Jose Benivedez yet? You forgot to say I'm Ouuutttt lol

  • @bigragu did u used 2 fight bigragu?

  • @hilldogg555 I fought amateur and sparred/trained with pro's. I've also coached amateur fighters.

  • Great helpful video.

My son is a junior boxer (11) and he's desperate to master the speed bag, I gotta get one fixed up in my house and I'll show him this, great video, I'm subscribing. Thanks dude.

  • Great! I wish you both the best of luck!

  • tks for the cool video man!, what´s the perfect air pressure for the bag?

  • Awesome tutorial, what model is that platform?

  • It's Everlast Model No. EVASB. Thank you for your time and comments!

  • i dont think ur position is not the right position to beat the speedbag..but awesome vid..i like it man

  • Hey thanks Bigragu! I was one of those people who hits it hard one time thinking Im bad ass cause I could never figure out the rhythem thing. Now I know 123, 123, 123.

  • glad I could help!

  • Man, don't worry, someday someone will love you.....someday

  • Sorry about this it must have been my brother who made the comment. He's a bit of a fucking idiot, so I apologize on his behalf.

  • Cool. Just sign out when your done! I've got so many of these in the past I pretty much just ignore them anyway. Have a great day!

  • nice forearm strikes at the end. u should defaintly make that Jab and stance video, is there any use to practicing jabs and crosses with the speed bag??? like to increase accuracy, speed and pop u think it would help?

  • It might, that's where switching over comes into effect. In my advanced vid I do a quick hit switch over (That whole Boom-Boom thing). That's setting up your timing for a good 1-2. The jab's speed is predicated on trying to reach out and take something while pulling back. I have to do the Jab and stance vid, you're right on it!

  • Good job, Bigragu. I would not want to be receiving one of those punches. I like the instructional videos. Keep them coming.

  • LOL! I'll keep them coming, you just keep watching!

  • I'm okay, just busy with life, Pie Boy.

BTW, everytime I get raped, I wait a year to report it & then file a claim in civil court. They teach that in hooka school.

They also teach us to go to all QB's hotel rooms to fix their TV in the wee hours of the morning.

Are you trying to get me started?

  • :) Would I do something like that? :) It's like the Tyson thing only people are wise to it now! I like Ben. He's a good OHIO boy!

  • RAGU!

And I thought you were all about pie ;)

You never fail to amaze me.

  • YO! Nice of you to drop by! haven't heard from you in a long time! What happened? Kev and George give you the go ahead? :) lol! I still love my pie!

  • What? Are you drunk?

Kevin & George ain't my Daddies.

Daddies? Is that even a word?

Look out, Ragu....I smell football season & that means I'll be yanking your chain.

    Stay fantastic ;)

  • Well I did have some Smithwick's at the Celtic Festival...No! :) It's just that i haven't seen a comment from you in like a month. Hope every thing's OK. I know how devastated you were when you heard those allegations concerning "Little Ben"!

  • I will be getting one soon, this video helps me understand how to do it, I am just a beginner.

  • Best of luck! Just remember to take your time.

  • I was wondering whether you can advise me on a speedball set. The one you have in your video seems solid, the wooden base anyway. The cheaper ones tend to have a slightly thinner base, would that matter much?

  • get the Adjustable Speed Bag Platform from Everlast. I think the price has dropped to around $140. Try to see if you can get it on Amazon and get the free shipping! The ones you mount have a thinner drum and aren't very sturdy. The one I have can take a beating! Also get a 10x7 bag. the 11x8's are way to big and cumbersome.

  • it is a great workout and loads of fun! Makes getting a couple rounds in exciting and the more you do it the more you want to do it! You win all around. Make sure you get a heavy bag that's at least half of your body weight. If you're over 200 like me! :) get one that's at least 100 pounds. I can make a 50-60 pound bag hit the ceiling.

  • This guy knows more about boxing than anyone! I would know, I used to call him COACH! He taught me and 6 other guys the ways of the speedbag in our garage gym. 6 days a week , 4 hours a day, for free. FOR THE ENJOYMENT OF TEACHING OTHERS TO DO WELL! Watch his form as he pounds the bag faster than most without effort. Heed his predictions about fights! "RICKY HATTON" LOL He picks them based on boxing style, not hype!

  • Awesome! One of my fighters! Glad to see you! Give my love to the wife, kid and family!

  • Yup i think i just plain like this dude, and i never knew how hard that bag trainin is.

P.S. Don't EL OH EL Ricky.

    Peace.

  • It's all good! The bags are no joke!

  • are u building a full gym mr ragu

  • Kinda, the wife and I are tired of paying gym memberships so I'm getting everything I need to make the home gym worthwhile.

  • So, what is the main purpose of the speed bag?

Is it possible for a good fighter not to hit the bag well?

  • Anything is possible. But the bag really helps with timing. Timing is everything in boxing. Right time to throw, counter, duck and move. It's all connected. Not to mention it will help out with your hand speed a bit. And in boxing speed= power. Look at Ali.

  • it makes it easy to hold ur hands up through the whole fight , u can ad head movement to it and the left hook too.

yes it is, i red about a guy who was knocking people out in sparing and fights, but he couldn't hit the bag for shit. but i think able to do that whens u come up to some level. dude was 15-0 with som ko's but got ko'd twise in early rounds don't even know where he is now.

  • Nice vid, Ragu! I used to box for the park district in Harvey, Ill. waaay back in the early 80s. I won more than I lost but I was never going to be a pro. But I did I have fun. I wish I was as fit today as I was then. Anyway, good form and thanks for showing this.

  • Thank you for sharing! I was at the last Windy City Fight Night 3 in June! UIC Pavilion, Downtown Chicago! What a great place!

  • good video big ragu and dude you got awesome hair man! is there a secret to having thick hair? Im already going bald lol

  • lol! I'm a lot thinner now (I'm 36), than I was in my 20's! Hope I can make it 10 more years. If not, Bald City here I come!

  • Well geez, if that is thinner then I wish I had your thin hair lol. Im turning almost 30 and you can see my scalp. I just started losing my hair like 3 years ago I should of took propecia when I realized I was shedding.

You won't be bald you will probably be one of those 65 year old guys with thick hair lol

  • man, I hope so!

  • nice video big ragu. glad i subscribed

  • So am I! thank you for your time and comments!

  • Good instructions Bigragu!

How many fights have you been in?

  • I've won more than I've lost! I fought in tournaments, won the Ohio State Fair wayyyy back in 89. Regionals in the Junior Olympics. At one point I couldn't get a fight for over a year. Fun stuff!

  • Is it OK to hit the bag with just 1 bounce off the back board??? i find it much easier doing it this way and I can get pretty fast!

Or does this defy the point a bit????

  • that's really good! 1 bounce is really hard to do! You've obviously hit the bag for a long time! Awesome!

  • Yes it´s fun. I trained for several years, and was shedueled for a fight, but the whole gala was canceled. This was at the end of the season, and then I never trained so I was so fit again. Now I´m 40 years old, way out of shape & fat, but after I saw the Klitcko vs Chagaew at ringside I feel like getting in shape and just do one or a couples of fights as a professional. Just for fun!

  • that would be great!

  • Great stuff bigragu! Keep the vids coming!

  • thank you!

  • Good vid, man! You should do one where you explain how to work the sand bag aswell. I don't know how many times in the gym i've noticed guys who do it all wrong.

  • Too bad even with ALL the instruction in the world it will not change my awful coordination and motor skills lol.

  • LOL! You just keep punching!

  • hey BigRagu,

    Nice vid.

You do know that with ya hair open, you remind of a fat jesus showing us the light thru boxing! lol

Thats not an intended insult by the way

    Keep em coming!

  • OK, how about just a bigger Jesus then? :) Thank you for watching and commenting on my videos.

  • What about practicing hooks off the bag? and precision?

  • In time. This is just for beginners.

  • dude, thanks for the vid! 5 stars to you!

  • thank you so much for your time!

  • Thank you! In the process of getting a heavy bag so I can do just that! Thank you for your time!

  • bigragu I suggest you keep doin how to vids homie that was good...can you show one on the double end bag??

  • if I ever get one! Man, the double end bag is a beast!

  • good vid

  • thanks!

  • Nice basic approach, lots of punchers really need that. Thanks for the posting. Showtime

  • thank you! I always try to give as much information as I can.

  • You should do a vid on how to do the Duran jump rope trick =)

    lol jk

  • You may be in for something! I am going to do a beginners Jumping rope vid! Should be weird seeing a 275lb guy jumping rope!

  • I may try a fat guy Duran rope trick!

  • good man. covered everything a beginner really needs.

  • Thank you!

  • NICEE!!!!!!! BEST VID EVER! :-P

  • Cool! I'm going to be putting out some beginner videos for wanna be boxers and fighters.

  • 5 stars is becoming cliche for your videos, but I can't justify any less. Another great video. I'm especially impressed by how you come up with good videos when there's not too much fight action going on.

  • Thank you so much for the compliment! I try to think about what to put out. I figured some things people want to know but don't ask or maybe they were taught wrong in the beginning or not taught at all. If I can get people intereste in boxing or help them in anyway I am all for it! So, since I'm not coaching any amateurs right now I would Coach a couple of Amateurs out in Youtube land!

  • For a 2 year layoff, you're not bad!!!

  • I used to be pretty good. :)

  • Nice steal on those speed bags.

  • tell me about it!

  • "the heartbeat of a gym"

    INSTANT CLASSIC

  • Thanks Man! Haven't seen you posting in awhile! Glad to have you back!

  • i heard the speed bag doesnt even do much to help a boxer. is this true?

  • Did you hear my beginning part? Of course it's important!

  • Another quality vid from you biggie keep it up.

  • thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

  • Nice vid ragu, your damn good at that! are you left or right handed? Just wondering because im naturally left, but prefere the orthodox stance. But i want to be as affective as I can!

  • I'm a lefty that was taught how to fight right handed.

  • ragu thank u so much for this sir....

by the way can u do a footwork tutorial?

and is cardio only the way to mazimize stamina?

i drink and smoke and i could last like 15 minutes on the heavybag but after that i have to rest for like 15minutes haha.

    great vid man

  • Thank you! I will do a whole "Beginning" tutorial! Jump rope, proper stance, jab, etc....

  • My man!!

  • I like your vid when you went like 6 min straight!

  • Thanks but my bag was a lot smaller. It takes much more energy and stamina to keep that big bag going. Excellent job!!

  • Yeah, you gotta hit it pretty good to keep it going. Then it gets faster, you have to hit harder, then it gets faster...what a vicious cycle!

  • Hey Ragu, first time I've seen your vids....quality my friend! Came across your Dirrell v Froch post and you took the words right out of my mouth. I live literally next door to Carl's family bar here in Nottingham and know him well, I give Dirrell 5 or 6 rounfs looking slick before Carl swats him like a fly around the 8th. Have subscribed....keep em coming! Joe

  • Awesome! Thank you so much! You keep watching and I'll keep making them!

  • Your really good at it, the vid is very useful too. Many thanks.

    5 stars.

    Peace.

  • thank you! Hopefully, it helps shed some light on the speed bag. It can be an intimidating thing when people are watching.

  • Nice, Ragu. Bring on the double-end bag, now.

  • Now that is a beast of a bag. Don't know if I'll be able to get one in the near future. Talk about needing great timing and slick head movement!

  • Yeah, great timing, coordination, and accuracy too. Exactly.

  • that is a very advanced part of training. my first gym I was at didn't have one!

  • i rarely use the speed bag.. i had 12 amateur fights as a junior when i was 15-16.. i was also very strange.. i was an occasional switch hitter.. i was right handed but was a southpaw. allowed me to get a locally famous jab as it was literally my only weapon.. jab and right hooks and uppercuts were my only shots. i won 8 out of 12 simply on the jab. the 2 stoppages came because as soon as i noticed my right hooks or uppercut taking an effect i switched to Orthodox and tried the right hand.

  • very cool. The speed bag gets both hands involved. I was a southpaw that got converted to a righty! I threw 4 right hands my first fight! Knocked him down with a jab! Took a couple of fights to get the right hand going. But I did love switching up once I had someone on the ropes!

  • what u know bout some boxing Ragu?

  • I know a little bit!

  • Bigragu in action! you making me wanna buy one

  • Awesome! They are a ton of fun! Not to mention they give your arms, shoulders, traps, back and chest a serious workout! The better you get the more of a workout you get from it!
