I'm sorry SSL, although this looks like a beautifully designed product, something that I would love to own and use in my home studio, your price tag is just astronomical.
How can I justify spending $5000 on something that is essentially a control/fader surface? Get of your brand wagon SSL and market this thing with a price that justifies what it actually is. I personally would happily hand over $3000 for one, but that's as far as I would go, otherwise it's just way over the top.
If this console would have 8 analog in and outs plus 2 digital AdAT ports (16 in and outs) than I would maybe buy it. But only these limited in- and outputs don´t work and I would have to buy an audio interface also so like it is now it is waste of money.
sorry to say that working with a mouse is much faster that nucleus. i have no idea why anyone would spend $5000.00 to work slower. i would spend the money on room treatment or some high end pres, converter or mics.
Also, too many manufacturers are down playing the mouse. The mouse is incredibly useful, and can't be totally substituted. If I were making this(feel free to take this idea too), I'd put a decent touchpad mouse built into the system (think laptop). It saves deskspace and the trouble of having to fiddle with room for an outboard mouse AND it adds a lot more to its functionality. It can go right under the transport controls. Higher me and I'll expand ur business ssl!
I agree with some of the comments. It's a decent product, but u can't market it for the budget studio at such a cost and neglect a dedicated talk-back and monitor switching/control for a/b/c. A scaled down version with only 1 side(8 faders) will be a nice option too. People can buy the smaller version, and always purchase another 1 if they wanna expand. Business 101.
I agree with djkiptap - the mouse is actually an excellent controller and much more effective for certain tasks than fingering around a control surface. Manufacturers try to trade on the glamour and workflow of an analogue console, but many people have evolved their working practices at a computer. The control surface is often elbowing in where is isn't needed/wanted.
When are they gonna realize instantiating plugins through the control surface isn't important, the mouse is still faster for that, controlling the plugin parameters however is useful. The select, cut, copy and paste looks awkward to use, again mouse is faster so those features are not really important. Loose the mic pres and add an alt monitor output and talkback mic and drop the price a few thousand.
@rudeboys28712 you also get a couple SSL preamps (if you don't get the value of that, give it up), and SSL adda converters, motorized faders (all the midi stuff is PURELY workflow)
And just generally very quiet:S I listened to one of these yesterday w/ headphones, and yeah, a bit muffled by low frequencies, but now I'm just listening off my laptop speakers w/o a problem... other than it being low-level:/ Ironic considering the source;):P

@VenVile I agree 100%! just bring out the 8 fader model and it's on. We should at least have the option.

We have the advantage of non-linear audio editing and companies like that are trying to make us go back to linear editing?

This would be perfect for my project studio if it had the EQ's, Dynamics and other SSL knobs on the console.

$5000?? Thats fair. Duende Plug ins, super analog pres, and SSL Quality. I think thats a bargain. I Could use more faders though.

i mean, you do realize that an M-Audio AxiomPro and a Presonus FaderPort does all the same stuff for around 550 dollars. unreal.

WOW what a polarizing product !!
Such a split on perception.
I am seriously considering this model.
It seems to come down to this -those that know what it is, and those that don't.
Those that actually understand the product and really know what they are doing, always seem seriously interested. Those that buy it, seem to love it.
I would love some final opinions, BUT only from informed individuals (those that have used it for at least one complete ITB project).
Thanks!

this thing cost $5000, you can buy a Novation remote zero or the remote sl keyboard, it does the same as this controller, but cost $4600 Less.

It's a shame the voice over audio is almost unintelligible. It's not the accent. Too bassy.
