not trying to be an asshole but your nose is a little more to the left than the middle, and what sucks about my nose is that my left nostril is always clogged like i could barely breath from it, actually, almost not at all, and my right is always whistling which sucks. so for me its either have the annoying embarrassing whistle or don't breath at all, and it is embarrassing and looks stupid to breath with my mouth open. btw,have you ever gotten a gf or date? no girl likes me cause my face, tips?

I got elbowed in the nose at school, I'm 43 now.My nose was shattered and I had to have an operation to get it re-set, ever since then I haven't been able to breathe through my nose properly.It only affects one side so I'm pretty sure I have a deviated septum.I also breathe through my mouth when sleeping and snore loudly.I'm gonna look into this operation for myself, I wanna breathe properly again. :-(

48 hours of packing /tubes was the worst for me. THE bloodiest/snottiest mess I have ever seen. I wish this upon no one! 5 more days with "spoon" splints. Thought I would lose my fucking mind. But, worth it the long run for better sleep and overall health.

I placed a wooden wine bottle cork (my idea) in upper mouth (between back teeth & upper lip) 2 keep it open while sleeping. Mouth closed otherwise during sleep & blocked airflow. Nasal drip out of nose & in back of throat was constant. Repeatedly rolled & inserted toilet tissue squares in nostrils to capture drip. Gauze sq & tape offered limited suppport. Packs out 11/14/11 after 7 days.

Just had this done yesterday around noon. My surgery took about 3 hours because my nose was pretty f'd up. Couldn't breath my whole life. Pain after surgery is minimal. Just a lot of blood flowing afterwards and at night. Not as bad as I was expecting. Thanks Joe for getting me through pre-surgery. Just took 2 days off of work so hopefully that would be enough. If you are planning to get it done, don't hesitate and just make it happen. Not much face swelling either.

I had the this surgery for deviated septum and sinus polyps a few weeks ago. I had gauze packing, and it wasn't that bad getting it pulled out. It actually felt kind of good in a way. This was more like a roll of gauze though, not a long strip packed in there. More like a tampon. I think it's better to wait an extra day or two to have it removed to let the swelling go down.
I broke my nose and I have a deviated septum which the insurance covers... but the only problem now is the outward appearance of my nose...I had a fracture after falling down my porch steps...and it left my nose crooked with a scar... do the surgeon(s) fix that issue as well as the deviated septum bit??? Like do they have to chisel you're bone to get to the septum???
Had the surgery two days ago myself. Nose is still a bit clogged, and I accidently just blew out some horrible shit that I am worried could be cartilage or the dissolvable stitches or something. Guess I'll find out when I go see the doctor again.

The worst bit about the whole operation was it turns out I am allergic to morphine so I was pretty fucked up for the first day or so.
@Azog150 Yep, be careful man, i had the operation about 3 years ago and now i need another minor operation because i was a little too rough on my nose after the operation, the painkillers can trick you into thinking your nose has recovered more than it really has. I did the same thing and now i need another minor operation.

Hey I got that done too, like a blind man being able to see for the first time ,same thing for people who had a deviated septum problem early in life ,once its repaired you breath better and my sense of smell went from 65% to 100% ,sometimes I smell things I don’t know what it is..And no it's not a fart.
I had mine done on July 7, 2011 and my breathing is so much better and was worth it. Joe's description was the same as mine. I had the nasal sponges removed after 4 days. No complications. I want to encourage anybody that needs this to get it. I don't know if I still snore but I'm having a sleep study next month so i'll find out then.
When I wake up in the morning there's always like these nasty boogers that are flat and huge and stuck to the side of my septum and when I pull them out they hurt and usually cut my nose and make it bleed very uncomfortable and nasty. My question is do I MMA will this make my nose weaker or more susceptible to bleeding or breaking?? As you could imagine that's not something I want my nose was broken in a fight before don't want to get the surgery just to have to get it again. Any advice anyone
Hey Joe, I had mine done July 2011. My doc took the packing out after 24 hrs and the difference in my breathing was amazing! I was congested for about 4 days and so I took a few extra days off work to recover and slept in the lazyboy to keep my head elevated. All in all, I am now sleeping better, I have more energy, I can breathe so much easier, and my snoring is pretty much gone, which makes my wife very happy. If anyone is considering the surgery, get it done. It's well worth it.

I had the surgery done on june 22nd and man what a difference in breathing but the day of surgery and next day sucked for pain. I'm not gonna lie and say it did'nt hurt like hell. The packing stuff in the sinuses was the worst part.
I am having it done on Friday. I appreciate the video, it makes me feel better, I will be asking him about the foam thing, the gauze thing has me nervous.
A doctor advised me to get this done. My concern: Is there a chance that this will make one of my nostrils bigger than the other? They've got to hold it open with clamps the whole time. Or does any nostril inflation go away after a while?

I had the this surgery for deviated septum and sinus polyps a few weeks ago. I had gauze packing, and it wasn't that bad getting it pulled out. It actually felt kind of good in a way. This was more like a roll of gauze though, not a long strip packed in there. More like a tampon. I think it's better to wait an extra day or two to have it removed to let the swelling go down.

I broke my nose and I have a deviated septum which the insurance covers... but the only problem now is the outward appearance of my nose...I had a fracture after falling down my porch steps...and it left my nose crooked with a scar... do the surgeon(s) fix that issue as well as the deviated septum bit??? Like do they have to chisel you're bone to get to the septum???

Had the surgery two days ago myself. Nose is still a bit clogged, and I accidently just blew out some horrible shit that I am worried could be cartilage or the dissolvable stitches or something. Guess I'll find out when I go see the doctor again.
I think I might have had a slightly different proceedure from you.
The worst bit about the whole operation was it turns out I am allergic to morphine so I was pretty fucked up for the first day or so.

@Azog150 Yep, be careful man, i had the operation about 3 years ago and now i need another minor operation because i was a little too rough on my nose after the operation, the painkillers can trick you into thinking your nose has recovered more than it really has. I did the same thing and now i need another minor operation.

Hey I got that done too, like a blind man being able to see for the first time ,same thing for people who had a deviated septum problem early in life ,once its repaired you breath better and my sense of smell went from 65% to 100% ,sometimes I smell things I don’t know what it is..And no it's not a fart.

I had mine done on July 7, 2011 and my breathing is so much better and was worth it. Joe's description was the same as mine. I had the nasal sponges removed after 4 days. No complications. I want to encourage anybody that needs this to get it. I don't know if I still snore but I'm having a sleep study next month so i'll find out then.

When I wake up in the morning there's always like these nasty boogers that are flat and huge and stuck to the side of my septum and when I pull them out they hurt and usually cut my nose and make it bleed very uncomfortable and nasty. My question is do I MMA will this make my nose weaker or more susceptible to bleeding or breaking?? As you could imagine that's not something I want my nose was broken in a fight before don't want to get the surgery just to have to get it again. Any advice anyone

Hey Joe, I had mine done July 2011. My doc took the packing out after 24 hrs and the difference in my breathing was amazing! I was congested for about 4 days and so I took a few extra days off work to recover and slept in the lazyboy to keep my head elevated. All in all, I am now sleeping better, I have more energy, I can breathe so much easier, and my snoring is pretty much gone, which makes my wife very happy. If anyone is considering the surgery, get it done. It's well worth it.

I had the surgery done on june 22nd and man what a difference in breathing but the day of surgery and next day sucked for pain. I'm not gonna lie and say it did'nt hurt like hell. The packing stuff in the sinuses was the worst part.

A doctor advised me to get this done. My concern: Is there a chance that this will make one of my nostrils bigger than the other? They've got to hold it open with clamps the whole time. Or does any nostril inflation go away after a while?
