  • super nintendo version has better resolution all three donkey kong country games look the same in term levels i like super nintendo levels graphics better but the maps i like on gameboy advence better though now the game is a solid A plus the game is fun no matter which version you have its nice to have both of them now gameboy color had the first donkey kong country game but get gba over gbc

  • gba looks washed-out and less colorful than the snes one for some reason.

  • looks pretty close to the original. I wouldn't be able to stand those sound effects for long though, so terrible!

  • I miss this game...

  • What is the difference between donkey kong land and country?

  • @Zaragan163 Graphics

  • Why the heck are Kritters purple? o_O

  • This was a decent port imo. If you want to see a real bad port look for Earthworm Jim for GBA.

  • @DeweyTheTotodile What are you talking about? Earthworm Jim was an excellent port! The music was very similar to the SNES version, and the levels are all just about the same. The only disappointment in the GBA version of Earthworm Jim for me was the fact that you couldn't make Jim say "Groovy!" over and over, like you can on the SNES version. That's only a minor issue and can easily be ignored, though. You want to see a terrible port, check out Killer Instinct for the GBA.

  • @Fgsfds1995 My bad. ^^; I meant the 2nd one. It's slow and the controls are horrible. The 1st one was pretty enjoyable.

Never played that one. I'll check it out.

  • @DeweyTheTotodile Ah. I wouldn't know about the second Earthworm Jim game on the GBA, as I never played it...yet. *Eyes shift left and right.*

  • There is working title of Donkey Kong coming out for the Nintendo 3ds, but Rare should make the Snes Donkey Kong country 1, 2, 3 for the normal DS. It would definitely have very good graphics then GBA.

  • It is true that the SNES version of this game is significantly better, but i personally consider this to be the best of the three GBA donkey kong country ports. It just feels the most like the original, with little additions. Overall a very good game!

  • mm really looks like snes game i'm going to download to my psp

  • make this a 3DS e-shop download!!!!

  • SNES DKC >>>>>> GBA DKC

  • still....SNES is better.

  • I just got this game and I'm stuck at 3:17. I'm always falling, like DK's lost his jumping power.

  • i <3 this game! i always played this (and i still do) on my red GBA SP :D im 15 and i <3 this!! its soo epic!

  • I have this lol

I got it when i was a little kid....i'm 18 and i still play it.

  • @nokturnalmortom666 Yeah!! Same with me!! I still think that it's a great game!! :D

  • this looks terrible compared to the snes version...

  • @mehpipi shutup...

  • This is probably the only port where the SNES version looks better than the GBA version...

  • every single level of this game brings back a different memory of my childhood. I played this game through about 5 times in two years. Best game of all time.

  • Hehe, I have the gbc version of this :D

  • YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER WHEN DONKEY KONG COUNTRY CAME OUT FOR SUPER NINTENDO IT WAS A TOP TIER GAME, ADMITTEDLY MOSTLY FOR THE "GOOD GRAPHICS", AS THE FIRST MORTAL KOMBAT WAS LIKED FOR THE GORE BUT WEREN'T RELATIVELY AS GOOD TO OH SAY YOSHI'S ISLAND OR STREET FIGHTER 2. IT WAS SEEN AS A GAME THAT GAVE NINTENDO A HUGE MARKETSHARE IN AMERICA OVER SONIC THE HEDGEHOG WHO WAS SEEN AS A "COOL" FAST ALTERNATIVE TO SUPER MARIO. STILL A GOOD GAME. THE SAME CANT BE SAID FOR THE GAMEBOY ADVANCE VERSION. BUT..

  • I'm buying the nintendo DS Lite just to play THIS. (Since it can have GBA games)

  • This is my childhood game I miss it so much!!!

  • well it looks like a good port. i still only have the gbc version though

  • que buenos graficos para su epoca O_O

  • 6:14

    Best Level Ever.

  • These gba donkey kong countries are like downscaled special edition versions, combining features from all three games into each other. I personally felt like these games were new experiences, and if one's looking for something new, these gba versions are great. They're also portable. :)

  • @brandflake11 This is why I want the series on gba, even though i have a ds lite, which can play gba. I hunt in every GameStop i can find to buy them.

  • @brandflake11 The GBa version had increased brightness, at the cost of contrast and colour saturation, to make the game easier to see on an unlit LCD.

It also had lower sound fidelity and a number of minor changes. Candy Kong no longer runs a save point, so players can save the game in any area.

  • @brandflake11 The GBA version had increased brightness, at the cost of contrast and colour saturation, to make the game easier to see on an unlit LCD.

It also had lower sound fidelity and a number of minor changes. Candy Kong no longer runs a save point, so players can save the game in any area.

  • @brandflake11 Yeah, man, they are basically still the same games; I love the gba ports. I don't really care that the graphics aren't as good, but they still rock :)

  • SNES one WAY BETTER!

  • @Evanator1991 does not matter which one is better they both the best.

  • Ugh why did the music for the first level have to be so bland?! Even the Gameboy Colour version managed to pull the music off!

  • Why did they use such crappy sound effects?

  • @GeneStarwind09 there still good...

  • where i could download the rom of Donkey Kong Country for my Visual Boy? :3

  • DKC on the SNES was a revolution. DKC on the GBA was a downgrade.

  • @Cheatscape01 that's your opinion...

  • DURR HURR I'M A NOSTALGIA HORE AND I THANK THET DIS GAEM SUGS CUZ DEE ORGNL R BETR- just shut up. I like this game, and people saying that this game sucks, just go die in hell.

  • i think gba version is better then snes version no offencese to the guy with the first comment p.s. im a bad speller

  • I'll need to play this, but having grown up with the first donkey kong country I'm obviously going to prefer the first one! Why did they take the lightening out of roost rampage? Why???

And funky kongs original theme, come on! That's like removing kakariko villiage theme from Zelda!

But in some respects it is better, and..dudes... Why change the sound of the kong letters?!,?

  • the gbc port has the most fun

  • I actually think the gbc port is superior to this

  • Why is Kritter purple

  • I don't care what anybody says this is the first one I played

  • i like this version just as much...i dont see any differenz

  • @lilBarryStyle snes is better than gba

  • @09jamesbondfan yah, but im asking why? where is the difference

  • this is good if you want to play donkey kong country on the go

  • Keeping thousands of bananas in a cave will only result in thousands of spoiled fruits after a few days. What a waste of food XD

  • I played this game on the SNES back in the day.The original SNES version looks much better. Not a bad game to play on the go. People should realize that a handheld system is not meant to be the best. Just something convenient on the go. GBA ports were done well.

  • the snes is better but it pretty cool playiing it while you wait for sonething on the go

  • I can't believe Rareware was sold to Microsoft. The Donkey Kong Country Series is not the same without them, and Donkey Kong wouldn't be having these adventures today if it wasn't for Rareware. Maybe DK would be extinct for good if Rareware never started the series.

  • @MrKojoman Nintendo, Well Nintendo lost the rights to the Banjo series, Perfect Dark, and they can;t have the classic Goldeneye 007 for N64, however Microsoft cannot acquire Goldeneye or Donkey Kong because they are Nintendo properties clearly.

  • @MrKojoman returns shows that retro can do it pretty good too

  • @MrKojoman you know this was made by rare, they are still doing handheld projects with nintendo.

  • Oh my god, I just realized because I don't have the gba version you HAVE to play the original, it has much better music and gameplay.

  • almost the same :)

  • I've to agree with everyone said about the snes version is way better. But there're some artificial intelligence being advancely created (eg. bee always facing your direction where ever you go whereas snes version don't). Still., i've to go for a snes version

  • I was an idiot to sell my SNES

  • @SonicDeeHedgehog You can download a snes emulator to play on your pc, netbook or laptop for free (only take few megabytes from your hdd). The best one is "zsnesw". Again, each game is few megabytes, depending which game. All you need is a gamepad & some configurations thats it..Less than 5 min to do all.

  • What up with the font of the text in the text bubbles?

  • at least it is better than the gbc version

  • wtf this isnt even like the amazing snes version and dk is the master why is diddy controler him!!!!! this is outragous!!!!!

  • onde compro o donkey kong 1,2,3 em GBA ?

  • GBA HAS SUCH GOOD MUSIC!!!

But the GBC and SNES ones too.

  • Terrible port. They changed the opening logos, the music, the graphics (why are there purple kremlings?!!?) and the overall feel of the SNES classic. The DKC2 port was slightly better and the DKC3 port was twice as bad. Overall, Nintendo should have waited until the DS came out before porting SNES games to portable systems.

  • @theSuperMetroid , BUT THE MUSIC IS SURPRISINGLY BETTER THAN THE SNES VERSION!!!

  • @jubolito Umm not quite.

  • I have this on game boy colour, snes and virtual console

  • The music from reptile rumble sounds like a level in crash bandicoot

  • @hertiny9 well crash bandicoot was influenced by donkey kong country

  • The version from SNES is too much better

  • oral Crapes is so much brighter in the GBA version

  • i still prefer the snes version for the better sound and graphic quality, but this still worth a play

  • first game i ever played on gba

  • wow, game looks awesome. and shockingly close sound. one of the most epic soundtracks in a game ever!

  • i,ve discovered that this game including the sequels only uses 1 channel from the gba sound system.

what a big shame, no wonder that the sound is so limmited let alone stereo.

it could,ve been done much much much better if they had pulled off everything.

i can't get over it, what will they thinking????

  • that is not who it happens ive got the original:L

  • It is in the instruction manuel- it is the prologue and it didn't show it in the original.

  • 6:40

if you go to the right there is a warp barrel

  • Coool

  • hi i was using penguin and i im now new to you tube and im donkeykong8891

  • ?ss

  • the song at the start is cccccccccccccooooooooooooollllllllll

  • all of you are right about the graphics. but, and there is but. the main problem here is with the over bright colors, and the reason they are so bright is because GBA was not a well lit or backlit console when this game came out, so the developers decided to brighten the colors so we, the gamers can see better the game and graphics. I know it's a shame, specially when you play it on a backlit SP model. for all of you who want the real thing, buy a PSP - and play the original DK with an emulator.

  • Wow. What a way to make what was once a lovely looking game look ugly. Horrible colour, wrong soundFX, stupid crap at the intro. Thank god I have the original.

  • awful grafics, funny voice clips, great gameplay

  • When the Game Boy Advance came out they said that its graphics were 32 bit. So why did its graphics look much worse than SNES graphics?

  • GBA was supposed to be three times as powerful as the SNES. But it really doesn't show in the SNES ports.

  • I just can't handle such a smaller screen usually, when I've already played on a nice big screen.

  • agreed and this looks pretty mediocre ffor something after 2000 and considering it's a 32 bit machine.i'll stick with my saturn for that reason.

  • derspites the overbrichted colors & cartoonish sound effects, there,re some improvements over the snes version, like the extra details & new sound effects.

still it,s a shame that this version feels so kiddy!!!

  • yeah ropey rampage on the snes version looked much more realistic too, with the darkness and the lightning

  • Of all the 3 DK GBA games that game out, this one was the closest ot it's SNES counterpart. DK2 was alright, but they really messed up DK3. Music in the GBA version is god-awful. Not that the music bad, just NOTHING like the SNES version.

  • snes version ownz but gba is ok gbc was kinda bad

  • who ever is playing fucking sucks.you fucking move to fucking slow...

  • Uh.. HELLO! IT'S A WALKTHRU! Most walkthrus go too fast. He might want to slow it down!

  • but i didnt ask you right!!!!!!!!

  • UHH HHELLO mr stupid a walktrhu is named with faq mostly 2 this is a speedrun speedrun aints walkthru's speed run is the show u how fast they can complete the game or a lvl

  • fuck?

  • I was replying to someone else, he said the word way to much, I was just teasing him

  • LMFAO this looks like shit compared to the snes version. Just came to this video to compare, having beat the snes version many times this looks inferior in just about every way. So much for wanting to replay a classic.

  • the maps are realy better than the SNES maps

they have better graphic and they are closer fells so awesome not like in DKC for the snes where the map is like 8 miles away from you

altrough you could see the hole world and levels in DKC SNES maps

  • SNES version is 10x better

  • @dex9350 true, but this one at least is better then the Gameboy Color version.

  • @dex9350 I agree, but I still bought this because DK on the move is an awesome idea.

  • Why? hand-held console is not bad! :)

  • Comment removed

  • @dex9350 How exactly? It looks and sounds a little differently, but otherwise it's the exact same game.

  • @dex9350 yeah but if you miss the game and you can't get the real thing, this is as close as you can get nintendo should do a version on the ds with the first 3 games just ported... exactly as they were, they would make a mint!

  • You should have a look to SNES version.

  • why are the kremlins purple? why couldn't they be teel like the ones in dkc snes?

  • Don't you think you guys are being a bit harsh on the GBA version? Now I agree that the sound in the GBA version is clearly inferior to the SNES, but you have to take into account that the GBA's hardware isn't as strong as the SNES's. So I think it was a pretty good port if you consider that fact, same with the GBC version (yes, I have played all three versions of DKC).

  • Dude, the SNES is 16 bit. The GBA is 32 bit.

  • Bits don't mean shit. If it has a weak sound processor built into it, there no avoiding that.

  • It doesn't have a weak sound processor though. It's an upgraded version of the snes sound chip.

  • Then why do most GBA games sound worse?

  • Maybe because there is a lot of sound distortion from the low quality speaker. Also in a lot of games it is overloading the sound channels.

  • But when I plug in headphones it still sounds bad.

  • i think sony designed the sound processor used in the snes too

  • Yep. They did indeed.

  • @Games5522 It's upto their attitude of music. How about Golden Sun 2? It sounds marvelous.

  • @Games5522 It's the attitude towards BGM. How about Golden Sun 2 sounds?

  • @GamesIt's the attitude towards BGM. How about Golden Sun 2 sounds?

  • @Games5522 It is because of the sound processor. People need to realize that a hand held gaming system is always going to be lower quality than a home console. The game dos not sound that bad.

  • @Games5522 coz it's it's a freaking GBA duh

  • @Games5522 Limitations.

  • @Nsanity96 I am aware of that. I stated this earlier then someone said that the SNES and GBA sound chips were equal then I asked "Then why do most GBA games sound worse?"

  • @Games5522 what are u talking about the musics awesome

  • @Games5522 ikr

  • @Games5522 Because no matter how new the systems are, nothing can beat the classics.

  • funkys fishing all the way. I play that at work all the time!

  • The GBA version was such a bad port. Fuzzy music and washed out graphics. I realize the GBA doesn't have that chip to make the game look all pretty like the SNES version, but still.

  • Geez....you act like it's Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis.......at least it's still playable....

  • True, it's not glitch city and completely broken like Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis, but that doesn't mean DKC isn't a bad port. The poor GBA just couldn't handle it. Hope we eventually get a beefed up DS port, though.

  • how you record GBA games?

  • i downloaded this shit on my psp

  • I'm gonna buy this game for my DS, and on the Virtual Console.

  • I also have that for super nintendo, its really cool.

  • is that on the little game boy advance or on big screen because its cool!!!

  • if you like this one look at the snes version.

  • I used to play this game, but I lost it.

  • Man I bought this and I dont care what anyone says.. its just as good as the original.. looks a little worse but if you let that bother you than you must be a dirty, dirty, graphics whore.

  • well the gba screen is a bit smaller

so i'm sure it's not as offensive to the eyes as it seems.

but the atmosphere is definitely different

  • Yeah but I was just saying you should not let something as dumb as the atmosphere being a little different ruin the game for you.

  • Not as good as the original.

  • and online

  • wat i love about nes and snes into gba is that they increase sprite brightness and include cutscenes

  • At the price of tarnishing the graphics, sound, and general quality.

Throwing out of place additions like all new sprites that look romhacked into the game can't even help it reach the same level as the SNES versions.

Anyone who wants to play a quality version of the SNES-to-GBA Mario and Donkey Kong games should ALWAYS stick to the SNES versions.

  • that is so true the nes or snes in2 GBC or GBA always lack the orignal quitly sound video everything.

  • i love this game..

thx for upload this very nice vid.^^

  • Awesome!

I have this game on wii (virtual counsole)

I'm on the snow level lol.

  • Donkey kong sucks for speed running, use diddy instead.

  • i used to have this on snes but then i bought it from my freind for gba for 4$

  • dis would be fun to play on da road,gj.

  • How come the screen always flinches when you enter a stage?

  • Because he records several times the level and once he reaches the "fastest" time, he inserts that clip on the part before the level starts.
