that was really cheesy and really weird... but you did something that... no one that i've ever seen on youtube have done with figures... and that was just freaking mind blowing!
@Bankailchigo12345 The presence of the stands is ultimately irrelevant when the focus is upon the animation itself, the stands are to be overlooked, rather like how in puppertry a marionette's strings, the wires attached to a puppet's arms to provide articulation, or a black garbed puppeteer operating a large scale puppet during a performance are treated as though they are not there.
The most shocking thing about the video is the comments. Not one person other than myself even seems to notice the stand is clearly visible in the flight scenes, as I appear to be the first person to have mentioned it, and therefore conclude I'm the only person who noticed it, as this is the sort of thing that when noticed usually gets at least one comment.
I see the potential tallent though in this person. I recommend he go to stop-motion animation school, learn the techniques for removing the image of the stand from scenes that require something to hold the character aloft, and then after completing his education and training at an animation school, he then attempt to make this movie again, using the techniques he learned.
I am impressed by the smooth motion. Make no mistake about it. It's just kind of a let down (a BIG let down) when I see the other with the model stands. And I may be picky for saying this, but that showing of the stands just completely ruins the movie for me. It's the kind of thing if I saw in a theater I'd just walk out immediately and not finish even watching the movie. And sadly, I can't imagine the animator here remaking it. I'm guessing it was a one shot deal, and now what's done is done.
I always believed the point to making a movie is to convey the illusion that something appears to be happening, that actually isn't. So for the movie to actually work when it comes to flight, it must give the illusion the characters are flying without showing the stand on the model. When the stand is shown, that completely destroys the illusion that the character is flying. I believe it would have looked more pro if they didn't fly at all, than it is to show the stand in flight scenes.
One thing the animator needs to learn how to do is make characters look like they are flying but without the stands visible. This will mean either using special color keying techniques and painted stands, or digital editing frame by frame to remove the image of the stand. While the frame rate is professionally smooth, it becomes obvious that this was indeed made by an amateur when you see flying characters with stands attaches. It would look more professional if the flying scenes were removed.
This could be the next Robot Chicken, only possibly better. All he needs is some tight scripts for his plastic cast and he's all set to have a hit on his hands.
someone must have had alot of time on they're hands
