at 1:01 he says; 'It's ok if it sounds a little choppy and broken up like that cause right now "you're" just learning how to do it'.....hahaha he's actually talking about how shitty his rolls sound lol.....even if his argument is to 'pick up speed' it's incorrect. he practices slow with an accent on the first hit and it's still there when he picks up speed, not good....find another video to learn this
Buzz roll... Let the stick bounce a ton of times, add random accents if you want. Its about as difficult as... Beating up a hooker. Yeah, I said it. Vince is a better drummer than you.
i think if he kept the same grip while doing the buzz strokes that he had during the single strokes...they might sound a little more even. I don't think people should be learning from this honestly. Watch a legit player buzz a stick and replicate it
@foucault12 Hey Fou...if you have to play a buzz roll IN TIME it helps to have some kind of note-value reference (i.e. eighths, triplets, sixteenths, whatevers, etc.).
@foucault12 If you pay attention near the end when he gets a bit faster, you'll notice slight accents on his triplets as they come as opposed to the whole thing just buzzing. It will make a difference if you are just free-forming it, and if you actually plan to follow through with a timed piece.
ya it is a lessen but it seems as though he's pushing to hard just because it's a buzz roll doesn't mean that you have to make it buzz it's just that the notes or beats have to be really close! im no pro but ive been playing drums for 20 years
Instead of being a musician you have a bunch of no talent hacks criticizing a fellow musician. Silly.

Pinkies in! Just because you roll doesn't mean that you let go of the sticks!

He's counting 16th notes, not eighth notes.
You fail, noobvillage.
Sincerely,
A high school alumni with a knack for music, who also participated in band for an entire high school year.

I doubt this guy, like many expertvillage teachers, has never watched a single "professional" video on technique.

Okay, so why bother talking about 'triplets' when all you are doing is a simple buzz roll? You are talking out of your anus.

He is just doing this to show how it's done. I've gotta say that I like his tuning on the snare, I've always been really bad at tuning my drums.
axelbjefs 2 years ago
That's why it's best to buy electronic drums.
Not for the sound, but for the tuning.
Personally i don't like the el-sound, but you don't have to tune them.
