Lets look at the real facts. Massachusetts, the first state to legalize marriage has seen decrease in it's divorce rates. How about Europe? The fact of the matter is that yes American children are more likely to be born in wedlock, however Scandinavian children are more likely to be born into a family where the parents stay together. It is just not a strong cultural norm to get married in these countries, however their relationships often outlive our marriages. These are the facts.

Well, I'm saying that tradition of sacred marriage was made up centuries after Jesus lived, if he did at all. Why would a secular ceremony use Biblical passages? It's all up to the couple getting married. Does god give federal benefits? No. So give the US citizens the same benefits as heterosexuals.

I like Ron Paul's approach. Government shouldn't be defining marriage at all. ((ie, legal franchise of marriage). Marriage is a private contract between private citizens, and individuals should be free to contract with who they like. People do not get their rights as virtue of being part of a group. (sexual preference, race, gender) People get rights naturally as individuals from their creator; not from government permission.
