  • Ramona and Julian is in my backyard pretty much I live in Poway

  • People in zimbabwe, are do that Everyday just for a grain!!!

  • you'll get shot! haha

  • liquifaction. awesome word!

  • Interesting video, was gonna go panning last week,....dont have a pan though, was using a frisbee as a pan xD lol

    Gold? ^_^

  • Lol Kermit is teaching

  • Is there a way to turn all those big black chunks into gold?

  • She showed ya some yella? See you at the gem saloon.

  • Will a magnet stick to iron pirite aka fools gold?

  • @diesel4life7410 I am trying to set up a gold panning activity for my summer school class - so I know the answer to this question - unfortunately, no - Iron Pyrite is not magnetic.

  • If you need directions on how to pan for gold you might be a retard.

  • LIQUI-FACTION?

  • @desertdreg : Liquification means getting the sand particles which by that stage should be free of clay up into the water so the whole lot behaves like water. At this juncture it should be noted that amongst the black sand there may be fine particles of gold. Also the black sand itself may have value such as incorporating platinum or having the role of being indicative of other minerals such as diamonds.

  • i wonder if a strong magnet would help get the gold.

  • @JHoward393 gold is non-ferris or people would have been doin this long ago. believe me...i'f be draggin magnets in my creek for the shiny stuff! i wish it were magnetic.

  • no sorry GOLD is not magentic.A magnet only removes the "black sand" aka iron particale .Thast it.Go take a science class -it seems you don't know what in our world is magnetic or not.LMFAO

  • I thought the 1st gold pans were made of metal with no riffles, or a Chinamans' Hat. at least thats the LUNA house Historical Society of Idaho has on file...

  • I'm anxious to go out west and start panning....it's all i will get into when i'm there......to see the wild side, the wilderness, the country side, the wildlife, and the sport of it all...panning for gold.......i'm serious too.i'm already making plans to head out west.it's going to take time, planning, and money...

  • very helpful

  • hooked lol good luck

  • wow this is a lot of views for gold panning

Gold panning is a marathon not a sprint

  • THIS IS FUN STUFF....WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO BE SO PISSY....GOSH SAKES.

  • does every creek have gold or is it a matter of finding the right spot what r the signs to look for i like the old steel pans by the way

  • @semaj175 there is gold literally everywhere but to work for weeks to get a fleck of gold .. not really worth it. and even IF there is noticable concentrations you need to locate where in the stream or where the stream was it may collect. if a stram/river was running in one spot for 1000 years and shifted to where it is now there is color left there.but any way you do it your going to put alot of work in

remember the old saying the only way to get rich in a gold rush is to sell shovels

  • @gmanthebossman

The core of the Earth is not iron, and your time as a prospector has blinded you from considering anything outside of what you think you might know. The gold is NOT easy to get, and getting to it would be damn near impossible though. Gold is dense, so it sinks deep into the Earth. Here you go:

Google "Earth's heart of gold". First article. Read and see.

  • @baguazhang2 Gold will stop at solid objects such as bed rock.

  • @Bushidobull

Are you saying that there can't be gold in the Earth, past the bedrock? Even if gold did stop at bedrock, and we ignored everything we learned in Geology class about plate subduction and Earth dynamics in general, we also have to remember that the Earth did not have solid bedrock while it was forming.

  • @baguazhang2 actually its a element as any other it can and maybe contaminating you.. although nothing enough to concentrate you down. for the most part though its veins in quartz and stuff that has washed down over the last 10000000000000000000 years or something it is far heavier than allmost anything else and will work down to the bed rock and cracks of if given a chance this is only the placier gold that is "easy" to collect unlike gold in quartz veins

  • Oh! Susanna!

  • I have a pan and a pick and a sluce

  • It grows on trees in Idaho!

  • thanks for this video..it's educational

  • lol, you got ripped off pro.

  • they spray paint iron ore gold then salting the bags your buying with it.

  • @9DragonMaster Huh?? No they are not lol.

  • @wormkilla i was just kidding, this looks like its in calico ghost town. my new name should be 9dragonclaimjumper, cuz I go stealth jumping often since im young and have a A51A mini with miners moss, and no job.... I plan on staying gone a few days up in the hills during the next big storm, sleep in old miners cave following a quartz vien.... waterfalls, creeks, frogs, and FINE GOLD so far =)

  • @9DragonMaster LOL I know..I wasn't being serious. Just messing around. Personally..I cant wait to get home so I can go get a little more gold before winter sets in.

  • The real panning trick in this video is the guy hustlin. I can buy an 80 pound bag of sand for $5 or better yet dig some for free. Gold flakes are super cheap check ebay. I guess you are paying $10 for a 5 minute gold panning lesson and some fun at the fair..

  • do you know if this exhibit had an organization behind it or if you remember the guys names?

  • good lesson.....good color! miss the san diego area! used to live in oceanside...

  • good lesson.....good color!

  • how much money money did that gold add up to?

  • bring back my gold !

  • sad to think that kids in southern africa do this for practically no money a week. They use mercury the sift out the gold which polutes the water and open pit mines they use. Most of the miners die from mercury exsposure.

  • @pr3typ0ny

    alrite debby downer

  • @DOOODOOFECES wow i can't believe i ever wrote that. god, how the internet comes back to bite you in the ass

  • hey Bert do u know what time it is? its time for my rubber ducky :D

  • This would of been useful in the 1800s.

  • COOL!

  • this video make me laugh lolhahaha

  • That's great! It's quite interesting!

  • what this we can use for ??????????/

  • kaat san esa ay gramo..

  • where does this gold come from?

there has to be a bigger source

  • @jcdoggie

well i dont think it would be too far-fetched to assume the gold comes from the ground :O

  • and if you dig a bit deeper, you'll find that there's so much of the stuff, that you could cover the entire Earth 2 feet deep in gold :)

  • quite clearly have no understanding of gold.

all the gold mined in the world so far wouldnt fill 2 olympic swimming pools.

  • @hbaxterau

I'm confident off my response, actually but I need to explain what I was referring to. The gold that exists in the core of the Earth would cover the entire surface in 2 feet of the stuff. This may sound impossible, but consider aluminum foil around a basketball. I think you get the analogy. Put the aluminum foil into a compact ball, and you'll see that it actually only takes up a small fraction of the core. Interesting, huh?

  • DUGH ALL GOLD COMES FROM THE GROUND LOL.WHAT YOU THINK IT GROWS ON TREE'S? LMFAO

  • Nice...

  • you can get the gold out of the sand by putting some Mercury in it, and agitate it. The Mercury naturally attracts gold, then you boil the mercury away..***DO NOT INHALE THE FUMES!!!! THEY ARE DEADLY!!!!!!*****

  • ever heard of the 'mad hatters' ... they used mercury to kill the organics associated with the flesh and - guess what - accidentally inhaled the fumes

  • The use of Mercury inevitably leaves the poisonous Mercury still in the environment. Since you know its deadly, why do you want to put poison into your own air, then water, then plants as it poisons your own local area? Don't use any Mercury at all. ( And save the expense of buying it in the first place. )

  • @JosephJustinPio man i just got high ;)

  • @JosephJustinPio my grandma played with mercury in small ammounts and is still alive 60 years later, the thing is wear gloves when handling liquid mrcury, and use a fume hood and wear a mask when messing with mercury vapor

  • @JosephJustinPio Large vials of mercury are also illegal in most states without a prospectors license.

  • @JosephJustinPio ahhhh... i inhale it all the time and i am fine. i am fine i am fine i am fine i am a rabbit. lol

  • The problem is not getting to the black sand and gold its getting the gold out of the black sand.

  • you run it thru a slough..( slu?-spelled wrong.)

  • slueth

  • SLUICE A controlled water channel.

  • very interesting can't wait to try it

  • beautiful

  • good reply but nost inportant is that it changes color and it very light

  • this was at the San Diego Fair 2008 at the Southwest Prospectors and Minor Associaciob Booth

  • very exciting.....wow

  • Where was the panning taking place?

  • this was at the San Diego Fair ib 2009 at the Southwestern Prospectors Minor Association Boot

  • what about fools gold. How do you get that away?

  • its really light

  • fools gold or otherwise known as Iron Pirate I think the spelling is wrong but my keys arn't working all the time

  • pyrite

  • iron pyrite

  • yeah you get shot. So your probably better off working as a bagger at Abbus Market.

  • very informative for the newbie. Great vid. don't forget to check out some of my videos

  • actually seems like all it is is classified(sized) dirt. totally not what i think of when i hear pay dirt oh well nice to hear the pitch anyway n nice video

  • this is cool my dad was working at an airport and he found a bunch of gold flakes so now we r trying to pan it out

  • actually before the indented groove there was the ribbed version like a weld bead run on the inside of the pan

  • No, You're wrong. In the 1800's the Chinese miners hammered grooves in the sides of their pans. You think they had welders back then?? HA HA to you !!!

  • i said like a weld bead "like" and they did have welding back then, then had welding long before that! you are probably assuming "arc" welding but there was forge welding they had a funny name for welders back then maybe you heard it before- they called them blacksmiths ha ha ha 2 u

  • True you probably pay more than you get back but, for someone who has never panned before, this would be a great way to get hands on and then go into the hills andmake their money back.

I've never paid myself to learn and you can teach yourself by just doing it. Either way...gold panning is fun!

  • Lol, that isn't "liquefaction". Hahaha.

  • Yes it is. Same thing is gonna happen to the sand in Richmond BC when they get an earthquake!

  • Stratification

  • never works for me lol, thanks for the tips though.

  • Over here in Germany it takes 3 hours to find an equal amount of gold-flakes ;-)

Nice video...showing the basics. 5 stars

  • sorry i got carried away there cool vid i did this in stone bridge in the adirondacks

  • lmfao

  • wtf

  • where did the dude fine the gold?

  • At first I didn't think there would be any in there, do you know how much your amount was worth?

  • i thought it was titled gold painting lol

  • same

  • Same

  • same

  • same :)

  • wow, dude thats very cool :)

  • DAMN!!!THAT'S COOL

  • so did you get to keep that or what?

  • yes, it costed $10 for the bag of sand then you get to keep what you find in it.

  • awesome, thanks for the cool video. where was this?

  • the san diego county fair

  • oh.. cool man.

  • so obviously ther must be less than $10 worth of gold in there. You paying for the sand. good racket. bet anything the sellers of the bags know exactly how much gold they put into the prepared sand bags. Good racket...

  • @spacepainter Or...you can buy an ENTIRE bag of sand from any mining website and keep all the gold that is guaranteed in there...which is a very small amount. Better yet, go to Big 5, buy a $6 gold pan and go panning!!
