I can't believe this. I have the Heathcliff DVDs and yet I don't have the movie. And I luv the old cartoons like this, and I'm a teenager! What r the odds?
I really feel sorry for any Heathcliff fans who saw this in theaters, expecting a feature-length adventure featuring their favorite cartoon, and instead got a bunch of TV episodes strung together.
I love how Heathcliff literally stamps "THE MOVIE" onto the opening title card. It's a perfect visual description of what the creators of this "movie" were attempting to do. XD
o i remember what comes next heathcliff:now have i told u time time i? kittens and the mouse:YES!!!!! LOL halarious its been so long i love the 80s 90s and the early 00s shows
I mostly Love 80s 90s early 2000's Cartoons where Incredibly animated 100% Hand Drawn Animation Perfection. early 2000's from 2000-2004 Kept the old School Television Cartoon format the way they Kept in 4 years ago and it's they're Final Timeline of our generation. & 2000 is one of Final Great years of our generation 2000 is Where Japanese animation and Culture Has dominated TV and Dragonball Z is Phenomenon, Gundam is His Heathcliff and catillac cats aired in 2000 on Toon disney. 2000 Rocks!!
@sygo7g - Did not know Japan was doing stuff like this. Thanks for the information.
I really did enjoy this back when (I had a taped VHS of it), but I don't really watch any of the cartoons that I watched back then without cringing. I still do love opening credits and closing credits of all my old favorites, this one included.
Wooooooow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm 25 years old and my mom taped this for me and my sister when we were 3 and 4 I had this movie for years until someone stole it in 2000. WooooooW!! This was the best. You brought it back
I still can't believe this was in the movies. I watched this show for several years when I was very young, and when we saw the movie (on cable, not in the theater), my brother and I recognized the segments.
This is a disappointment now, but in 1986, it worked just fine. This was also DiC's last foray into theatrical releases until a Strawberry Shortcake movie that came out in 2006.
Animation Station released Heathcliff the Movie on DVD a couple years ago, but the picture and sound quality was terrible. They also removed the Clubhouse logo (not that it matters, since it has no affect on the film itself).
About that 'Heatcliff meets Riff Raff', well, some source (Wikipedia) told me that apparently, from another source, the reason why Riff Raff never sees Heathcliff and does full interaction with him could be because of the McNaught syndicate not allowing outisde characters (Excluding Wordsworth, Hector and Mungo) outside Heathcliff. I assume said Syndicate wouldn't be so willing to bend the 'rule' for a movie.
Heathcliff has brought back memories :) best cartoon cat ever :D

Heathcliff starring none other than the late, great, Mel Blanc as Heathcliff.

I remember rightly this was on cbbc 1 as Heathcliff was popular around that time and I remember Hernry's Cat being on before it

Did this film ever play in theaters or was it direct to video?

My only complaint about this movie is it was too light with Riff Raff. Being a pimp, he should've been shown more.

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment Could Have Released Heathcliff The Movie Onto Blu-Ray Disc In 2007 Instead Of The Simpsons Movie.

A showdown with Heathcliff vs.Riff Raff would be ULTIMATE! Pretty unpredictable too, but something in me says Heathcliff would win... or a tie.
Was this actually in theaters, or was it made for TV?

theaters. came out in the summer. locally it was matinee-only. i waited for the tape, and i am thankful i did.

If you search hard enough on YouTube you'll find an old promo for the series where Heathcliff calls Riff Raff his buddy.

I'm surprised this movie was successful at box-office. But that might be because it was a very low-budget movie and a clip-show movie

wow it's been ages ago since i saw this cartoon.
i always used to watch the series when i was little.
i really love the good old eighties cartoons.

But you're right, this was from a VHS copy of the movie, as well as most of the episodes I've posted ^^

WOW! 11 parts. I've never seen this movie. How long is it?
zabeon 3 years ago
76 mins... but as you can see some parts are shorter than other... some parts push to exactly 10 mins! hope YT takes them... :/
SwiftFur 3 years ago
They should. I wonder why they limited video lengths to 10 min.

how there nephew look like him. Just like popeyes nephews. -_-' 80's Cartoons where confusing as always!

Hey, here's something strange... 1:49 - "Cut the lawn"? I thought it was raining outside? Lame excuse, or big mistake? you decide! lol
