I believe in reality and of one consciousness, because of the senses of touch and smell, and the pain I feel when I cut myself or dislocate my knee, etc. Also interactions and shared experiences that are remembered by all involved.

It's a bit more complicated then that. Nearly 50% of our brain is solely dedicated to processing visual information. Furthermore 1/3rd of that is facial recognition which means a majority of our lives are obsessing over visual stimulus and misinterpreting people based on their faces. The "visual" of what we observe vs how we are observed create our personalities and almost all of what we see and feel is totally false. That is why brainwashing is so easy.

Say the technology comes to exist where synthetic human cells can be made. Say these tiny machines duplicate and replace the cells of your brain one at a time until that brain is completely synthetic but functioning identically to the original brain. Where are "you" now? If the brain is divided evenly and both halves are able to recreate the opposite side identically to the originals, which brain are "you" in?
