  • I am really thinking that Hawaii would be right for you. Most people are friendly and kind without the superficial politeness. Snobbery is unacceptable here. People like logic here a lot! From the Asian influence, and the simple yet profound logic of Native Hawaiian culture. being comfortable is like a first priority here. People gather in large numbers around food and music, but without the snobbery of the NW. My uncle is a lot like you and he found his home here.

  • California from your description sounds like a place where a lot of "Enthusiasts" (type 7) go to live and the East sounds like a place where "Challengers" live (type 8) from the Enneagram.

  • I just took a quick online version of the test, and it said that I'm a type 6 with a type 7 "wing", whatever that means.

  • @TheLogicJunkie I don't know how accurate that assessment is, but a 6 with a 7 wing is a LOYALIST (primary desire = security) with a secondary function as an ENTHUSIAST (primary desire = fun). I could go into detail of what this means, but I suggest you read "Personality Types" instead as it is a fountain of positive knowledge.

  • I am INFJ, the rarest of all the types.

  • and, if memory serves, also the most potentially deadly, because you emote privately and very obsessively and close-mindedly, but with great richness.

  • @TheLogicJunkie I was right on the edge for the I and the E, though, so that probably doesn't apply to me. There was nothing about close-mindedness.

  • @PolitcalIslam The degree of close-mindedness applies to the last letter -- whether it's "J" or "P". At least that's my paraphrase of it.

"J" stands for "judging", and "P" for perceiving". It basically describes what the individual's ultimate purpose for information processing is: do they process to perceive and understand, or do they process to make a final judgment and then move on?

  • I''LL LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS AND BE A HERMIT AND BE HAPPY.

  • ...Only until Poppy Bush starts getting insecure again and goes looking for some lone victim to bully to death, just to flex his he-man muscles. Then just cross your fingers and hope that he and his league of Hansa-brats don't learn about you all alone in the mountains, minding your own business.

  • @TheLogicJunkie LOL, SOOOO TRUE. POWERFUL PEOPLE ALWAYS LOOKING 4 A REASON TO BULLY OTHERS.

  • you seem nice. i have watched alot of your videos and you are smart in them i like it thanks. u shuld live somewhere where you can have at least one good friend, or some good friends, someone nice to be with most or all of the time. maybe find some friends that are nice to eachother, like to dance, listen to music, sing, talk to eachother, go places to meet new people together, learn and teach things together, make things together, friends that will do with you whatever u think is fun.

  • There are many dating, social and mental health benefits to living overseas folks. To learn about them, visit HappierAbroad dot c o m and click on the "Comparison Chart" tab and also view the "Big Secrets the US Media never tells you about" tab. You guys will be in for a shock. Also see my film on YouTube called "Foreign Female Encounters" which show how much more friendly foreign women are compared to the US. The difference is astounding and mesmerizing! For sure.

  • This is a great discovery LogicJunkie. Yes location often is everything, not attitude like new agers claim. There are ways and personality tests you can use to gauge where you might fit in best, however, the only way to truly know is to go there and test out the waters. I would suggest you go to Europe first, and explore the countries there. Europe is best for intellectuals since the cultures there are more aware and intellectually oriented. People like you and me feel very much at home there.

  • Mountain areas with lakes.

  • How about just staying in cyberspace?

    I enjoy listening to you.

  • Thank you.

  • come to sweden if you wanna suffer a desparing death.

  • I definitely need to move down to Southern Cali, as I have been desiring to do for some time now. I was born there, and I think that I belong there in terms of my personality...though I do have some neuroticism, according to myself and others. OCD and other neuroses.

  • Isn't Los Angeles designated as "Southern California"?

...You know, if you're on Facebook, there's an application there called "My Personality" that I think is really, really good. Among the results it gives you, after you take the test, are 1) the suggested "best countries" for you, 2) the suggested "best states" for you to live in, and 3) the suggested "best college majors" (or, by extension, "best careers" for you to follow.

  • maybe in a non-retarded society?

  • Alot has to do with weather. Put a penguin on the equator and it will be differentt in personality than a penguin in the artic. I'm in Buffalo and when winter hits people become miserable. Weather changes moods

  • Good point. I am a good deal happier in the southeast, and in the southwest. My skin is pale, but I guess I desperately need the sunshine.

  • I'm a westcoast boy so that's all I know..nonetheless, I could see you fitting in the bay area (SF)...very diverse, interesting personalities, great places to eat, little cool but good weather

--also within striking distance are lots of beaches (monterery, carmel etc)

    --great weather overall

--only downside is the cost of living..very expensive

  • Actually, I'm visiting the Bay area this week and I'm really enjoying it. The part I don't like is the eastern desert part, though.

  • Go Live next to MIT, you logic junkie. Or take a break in Hawaii

The west is the best. You should not say East Coast, you should say South East coast. The north east is sophisticated. East coast people are mean, especially new jersey and New York. The northeast is crowded. Atlanta sucks.

  • You like the west, best? I'm visiting the bay area this week, and I'm enjoying it a lot. Also, though, you think I should check out Boston? My sister says it's expensive and cliquey... But I have heard good things about Hawaii.

  • I have a couple of suggestions. 1. San Francisco. Although it's ass expensive, it has a mild and predictable climate, the people are very intellectual and you won't run into as many of the "beauty fools" (as ashflix would say). 2. Madison, Wisconsin. Though it can be really cold and nasty, the people are friendly (typical midwestern hospitality), they're very down to earth, and it's a college town, beauty culture not as prevalent.

Good luck to you, I hope you're able to find a good fit.

  • Thank you... You know, I may have to try SF, since I've had several people tell me that. My only concern is that it might be like Portland, Oregon, which I absolutely hate.

Portland is a beautiful area geographically, but there aren't nearly enough down-to-earth people in Portland for my tastes, and they are largely hateful as hell and out of their frickin' minds.

  • why not portland Oregon? For the most part, don't both SF and Portland contained the same demographics?

  • Well, I've never lived in San Francisco, so I wouldn't know.

  • Why don't you like Portland? I was told they were open-minded and friendly and respectful of other's people viewpoints.

  • That's just posturing. The truth is that they are quite militant about their party line, but that they're just incredibly passive-aggressive in how they express their endless hostility.

It's a beautiful area, though. And the further away you get from the center of Portland, the more exponentially reasonable the people get.

  • stay away from where I live. Arizona does not seem to be logic oriented at all. don't know about other places, but definitely not here.

  • Nix Arizona. Got it. Thanks.

  • ha. now u have people recommending places all over the country. U said Boston I visited there lots of Universities and student life. Beautiful and high class like Manhattan for instance. Expensive. My favorite areas are Washington DC because it's creative. I feel the garden state is down to earth and diverse on all fronts. All I can suggest is northeast.

  • Thank you. Have you ever been to the west coast?

  • Only as a small child to az. but would like to visit NavajoNation to see how much native culture lives on. also saw a program about sedona having special energy. surprisingly i dont care to visit vegas or la

  • man i have a very short attention span.

i just scrolled down and typed this comment half way through the video. you should do jump cuts to eliminate some repeated ideas and out of topic parts. also you won't be driving your viewers sleepy.

  • I'll see about doing that. I've had the occasional complaint about my videos being "boring", but some people seem to like it.

  • You've got a lovely voice...you could go into the radio biz.

  • Thanks...

  • Richard Florida in this book shows a map of the single male to single female ratio...the west is apparently more favorable to females and the east to males. As far as comfort goes though, I think an INTP will do better not packed into a big city. You mentioned Boston...I live there myself and it's really just a smaller NYC.

  • Well, thank you for that thorough assessment. Do you then recommend Boston?

The west coast is climatically nice, but something about the social temperament is kind of a bit too naive and cloying to me.

As far as the US goes, I've been leaning towards the "Bos-Wash" region or the northern midwest, around Chicago, say.

  • Eh. I think you'll find a lot of beer drinking, reality tv watching sports junkies around Chicago, just like Boston. I personally recommend New Mexico, lots of writers there, plus amazing sunsets and starviews.

  • You certainly should look at Austin.

  • You know, my sister loves Austin. I've heard great things about it. Thank you.

Also, I like your name. Very conceptual.

  • I've been wondering the same thing. I guess I'll have to check out that book.

  • Yeah, you should... it's a great book.

  • I live in Virginia Beach, VA. Its rather boring but relaxed, down to earth, friendly area. Tourist season is annoying though, the oceanfront at that time so crowded. ;P

But I hear Richmond VA has a very unique "artsy/creative" feel to it, in some parts anyway.

  • Oh, I like the Carolinas and Virginia. The people there are very down-to-earth. And I do tend to prefer living near the craggy coast.

  • What is there to do for fun in Virginia Beach?

  • I live in the San Francisco Bay area. I love it here, but it is too fricken expensive to live here. My next move is going to be water motivated. The South and the mid portion of our country is running out of water. I am looking at moving to the Pacific North West where it rains all the time. What worries me about the area is the areas are beautiful but the population is low and there is a reason for that.

I think you would fit into the S.F. Bay Area.

  • That's cool... What is it about the people?

  • I love the southern Oregon and northern California coast, but the more north you go the less "warm" people seemed to be. I had a woman who worked at a hotel in Reedsport Oregon be outright rude to me. You would think a person working at a hotel would be used to "outsiders", but she did not want my business and all I could say it was my California license plate. And this was not an isolated case.

  • Yes, I hate to say it, but they are very, very cliqueish in many parts of Oregon... much of the culture here is very cloak-and-dagger. This is what I was talking about in my commentary here.

Portland, in particular, is not the "haven of brotherly love" it constantly praises itself for being. Mind you, there are some nice and fair people there, but the culture tends to be very facade-oriented and self-servingly moralistic, even to the point of being mobbishly predatory.

  • Supposedly the KKK for the west coast is based in Oregon.

  • After living in the area for awhile now, that doesn't surprise me a bit.

  • no no no my friend. there are a quadrillion hipsters in san fran. and it makes me sick. although san fran is cool, its hipster heaven

  • Are they rotten, mean-spirited, snobby hipsters? Because that's what I mean by "hipsters". If they are, then San Fran can go fuck itself, too.

  • Quadrillion hipsters?? I live here and do not know what a hipster is. The S.F. Bay Area has a huge diversity of different cultures and different mostly tolerant people. If you are not compatible with a certain group of people there are many many others to try!

  • Good point.

Well, if you want to know what a hipster is, check out the YouTube video called "Hipster Olympics", and you'll see what a hipster is....

  • OK now I know... yes there are a ton of them in San Francisco, but other bay area cities are quite different than San Francisco.

I live in Montara which is a small coastal town with a populated by hippies, artists, professionals (both color collars) and retired people. Right down the road is Half Moon Bay where there are farmers, professionals, and some wealthier folk living out in the gated community on the golf course. Big difference and only 10 miles away.

  • all im saying is that there are a shitload of hipsters there when i went. kinda made me sick even though san fran is a pretty cool place. such a pity.

  • I just don't like people deciding that I don't look "in style" enough to "fit in" with their little clique, and so they deliberately, shamelessly, brazenly, and childishly try and start shit with me.

And what's even worse than that, is when it's clearly obvious what they're doing, and when you try and fight back, the rest of their cronies fall in on you, too.

  • fuck them all, saying we are all ignorant. dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • What is a hipster?

  • So, You've been to Phoenix Arizona all the way to Tacoma, Philadelphia, Atlanta, LA?

  • I've been to paradise, but I've never been to me.

    hahahahahaha

  • i love nc i wanna go back, i'm gonna see if there any quez on just where should i live subject but yea i agree before i met ppl from the west coast i didn't think any guy would iron there pants before they go to wal-mart

  • Yeah... West coast is beautiful and all, but the culture just isn't me.

  • i rather be there then detroit,

    I'm really wanna move

  • From my 20 year life I would recommend some places you do not live in. These being Las Vegas, SoCal, and SoFlo. Chicago would be a nice place for you to live in as it is a mix of the east and west coast with less of that fruity SoCal fervor. You could fit into New England and New York but I don't have as much experiences living there. Denver and phoenix could also be places for you to consider.

  • I've been to Las Vegas with my family when I was a kid, and it's nothing but desert with just the city streets stripped onto it, with almost nothing but casinos. Very depressing. It's actually a very potent ecological metaphor for the superficial, barren life of the partying gambler.

  • Also I've been to Phoenix, SoCal and SoFla. SoCal, as I've said, I didn't have a problem with, but it did leave me feeling a good deal empty and lonely inside.
