when nazi invade france a general nazi take a order to destroy this place, but when the soldier want explosive this place, them cannot do that them because amazed see notra dame, so just let a go not obey the order from general nazi....notre dame cathedral safe if not airbone troops come not to late.
Why have the French turned their backs on Catholicism en-masse? France should be one of the great Catholic nations - especially with a church as iconic as Notre Dame as well as France being the main contributor to the Crusader forces that fought the Muslims in the Middle Ages!
Poor acorn. I think that he is truly possessed by evil demons. He comments on sacred architecture yet the foulness he spews forth in personal messages...he needs a good exorcist.

I have to say I find it so funny when our brothers from the western shores (Canada and the US) make titles such as this one:
'Nôtre Dame Cathedral Paris France'
Is there another Notre Dame somewhere else that I didn't know about?
'Nôtre Dame' translation = Our Lady (of Paris)
Of course there are 23 locations within the US named 'Paris' (Americans never were very creative in the name department) but as I'm aware, none of them sport much in the way of 12th century Gothic architecture...
@acorntechnique I listed the title as such to optimize this video for the search engine, not out of ignorance.
I should also point out that many of the cities in North America that are named after European cities is not due to a lack of creativity on our part. Most of these places were named by European colonialists who wished to name a place after their hometown, and didn't care if someone else already had. For others it was a way to overcome homesickness.
@acorntechnique I am a Canadian, but I should point out that American creativity should not be marginalized. Many of the great advancements of the 20th Century took place in America....first flight....first man on the moon...development of nuclear power...invention of television...I could go on.
Your comment - whilst interesting, obvious and pretty common knowledge looks like it comes from another conversation as nothing in it bears any relation to what I actually wrote.
On the contrary your the jackass because if someone writes of Notre Dame we wouldn't expect it to be some obscure place other than 'the' Notre Dame and if it was then, and only then would any reader expect it to be further explained.
Please don't try to be smart-mouth because it doesn't suit you.
go to a library and search for books using just "Notre-Dame" and see what comes up. you would be lucky if 2 in 10 are about paris. you don't know what "you're" talking about.
@acorntechnique Notre Dame is not as recognizable a name as London. I expect that Notre Dame the university is as well known as Notre Dame the cathedral though obviously not as great!
If you are looking on YouTube and only type in "Notre Dame" guess what pops up??? ~ Notre Dame college or Notre Dame football team information firstly...thus the distinction.
Please, don't try and be smart because you simply fail.
If I spoke the words 'Notre Dam' to 100 people, they would not think of some fucking football club! The fact that it's first in Google has absolutely no relevance either. Its ranking depends on lots of factors such as website ranking, back links, optimisation etc etc.
You are so full of crap & conceited to boot. Why do you raise such a big stink about it any way? Are you a curator at the cathedral? No just a dumb-ass CANOOK!
I was just there, ran up those time worm spires, hit the bell as hard as I could w/ my hand, saw the little elephant along side the gargoyles, suffice to say it is INCREDIBLE.
@acorntechnique haha actually there are many Notre Dame cathedrals in Europe, at least 4 in France alone. This particular cathedral is the Notre Dame cathedral of Paris, France. Now what was wrong with that title again?
That's true, your right, but I wouldn't have chosen Bach nervertheless. I know Vierne's recordings of him - there're absolutely the way Bach would NOT have done it. I don't know where you're from, perhaps you don't know the German organs and the German Bach research. I know a quotation concerning Bach and Widor, perhaps I'll find it one day and then post it... Anyway, it's a lack of respect to Vierne to choose Bach when showing Vierne's organ
Excuse me!? I am a true lover of the baroque style, you're totally right, you have no idea who I am. I am very familiar with German organs.
I won't answer your questions because its not worth my time. You have no idea what you're talking about, of course Bach would not have played in our style today. Its because he never had symphonic instruments.
I agree this music here is bull because its digital.
And another thing, I can't see Vierne's organ anywhere in this video. You clearly have no idea what you speak of so I would suggest holding your tongue and get your facts straight.
I have in fact done plenty of research on the baroque organs, I admit I don't know nearly as much as some but you still have no right to say it is a lack of respect and I trust my knowledge enough to let me tell a snooty little git when I see one.
Firstly: Please stop insulting me, won't you? It only shows a lack of arguments.
I didn't intend to insult you, nor anyone else, but I think that that the creator of this video shoud have shown more respect to Vierne (this is what I absolutely wrote) and other French organists when creating this video. Bach in an absolutely generell introduction of Notre-Dame: That can't match, I can't see how.
I haven't insulted you, I merely argued with you. The only mistake the author made was posting a cheap imitation of Bach's music. If you wanted to hear Vierne's music I can understand because I would too but there is nothing wrong with Associating Bach with Notre Dame. For example BWV 533's fuga would have been much better and it should be played on the Grand organ of Notre dame. (or what was a grand organ)
Certainly, 'historically' there is no connection except that his music was performed on these instruments and they because immensely popular because of that. But just imagine what music he would have been able to compose if he played these organs.
The name "Bach" is a universal name and his music sounds beautiful on just about any instrument, (except this synthesiser).
Of course there's no physical connection... that church was only built about 40 years after his death. But spiritually....
There is a great connection. I am not a worshipper but I do know that is the truth of it. Bach would have certainly loved to hear his music on organs with such incredible power.
This doesn't sound good at all, why, because I think Bach deserves to be played on a real organ.
Not a cheap synthesiser, if anything I would say they should play a piece that is in a minor scale which is perfectly befitting of this place. And if any music should be associated with Notre Dame, it should be coming from its organ.
Hold on a sec while I break dance to this tune

"Is there another Notre Dame somewhere else that I didn't know about?"
as I'm sure you know, there are about 12 Notre-Dame cathedrals in France alone.
Riems, Amiens, Chartres, and Paris to name a few. Without the title (de Paris) there isn't really a good way to tell one from the other.
also,
you're a jackass. go troll somewhere else.

I refuse to be drawn into this. We both know exactly what I'm speaking of and I'm not referring to Library books!
If I spoke the words Notre-Dame to 100 people I know they would all expect that I was referring to THE Notre-Dame and not some other place.
According to your logic, if I mentioned the name 'London' you would assume that I was referring to London Ohio USA and not London England.
Enough said.

choirboy526 2 years ago
But not on THIS organ! If I had to introduce you this organ,I would choose Widor or Vierne etc., but not Bach!
Angultimmarik 2 years ago
That's something both Vierne and Widor would disagree on totally, Bach was one of their greatest passions.
You should think carefully about that and listen to Vierne's recordings of Bach on what used to be a fine Cavaille-Coll organ.
advisorC101 2 years ago
Its not Bach but this disgusting synthesised music that doesn't fit Notre Dame.
