@glyphicdnb: you do realise SD and Photek were pretty much neighbours? Both from Hertfordshire, UK anyway. No coincidence they had a similar sound. The amount of musical talent they all had was a coincidence though!
@SlikkTim Darkstep is heavier... basically like darkside but with a two-step beat. I associated this with intelligent/liquid cos it's quite a floaty/bouncy track. Each to their own though. That's just my opinion. Shame there isn't much music like this nowadays.
@tomg52325 Ok my bad. THe whole metalheadz label had such an incredible vibe, it had that bboy thing goin' on, slower tempos, a lot of 70s jazzfunk and soundtracks blended, for a very deep, "blue" sound. Most of nowadays dnb doesn't reach half of the deepness of these tracks, plus the production was superb. When 15 years old tracks are more inventive, and better mixed than nowadays sound made on way more powerful computers... it's a bit sad haha
@SlikkTim That's because the old kit has it's own vibe. Call it dirt, noise, nice filters, nice analogue distortion, whatever. You can instantly tell when a tune has been made with soft synths itb.

@SlikkTim Back in the day it was called Intelligent Drum 'n Bass. Nowadays they call it Liquid.

@tomg52325 I always thought it was darkstep but maybe i'm wrong. Liquid doesn't sound anything like this to me.
