Strange thing he does at the beginning...probably the only Caruso 'blooper' we have on record? Or did he do it on purpose? It proves at least that all these recordings were technically 'live' and not those multiple takes second rate tenors do today in studio.
@GermanOperaSinger i love the blooper cause we get a vision at what the 'performing artists' life was....having to clean up your own mess....as a performer wehave to sometimes clean up a mind fart and go on...EC does it to perfection....if you didnt have the score in front of you or know the aria like i do then you wouldnt have thought there was a mistake...what an artist...GOAT
A good recording. I definitelly forgive the little slip-up; it's actually not Caruso's fault. The rest of the aria sounded great.

Could be a "blooper" :-) 10 arias were recorded in just 2 hours in a hotel room i Milan. No retakes :-)
