  • The "Beast" is our lowering of social morals. Won't be long after gay marriage, that we will be accepting perverts of all sorts; underage, incest, bestiality.. HOW FAR WILL WE LET OUR BASE MORALS FOR HUMANITY DROP?? WHAT IS THE LAST QUESTION OF MORALITY? WHICH BODY PART TO EAT LAST?

  • Really?

    Underage: can't consent.

Incest: Starts almost 100% of the time as underage.

    Bestiality: Can't consent.

So, now that your slippery slope argument has been destroyed, I assume you are going to be marching in your local gay pride parade?

  • if by lowering our social morals your referring to a book written thousands of years ago I ask you to consider what else it says about interracial marriage, slavery, women, etc. I must remind you though homosexuality was around long before the bible was written documented by the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Mesopotamia, most dating before the Bible was even written. So just because there was one man who wrote a sentence that is highly speculated was mistranslated we have a twisted set of morals

  • Plato (a Greek) said homosexuality was wrong in his final book, the Laws. He clarified his otherwise unclear position in that book.

  • Plato was a pedophile so his view's on sex are hardly what you would call sane and reasonable

  • Plato was NOT a pedophile... he condemned that sort of behavior. He was among the very first to do so.

  • here we have our conclusion countless of historical accounts will tell yes indeed he was, others will defend him, therefore this fact is inconclusive. I'll give you that, I still do not think it's a usable argument this is one mans reason against not only science, but countless other philosophers that claim otherwise, not to mention the fact that this last book contradicted a great deal of what he said earlier on in life, it was almost as if in his old age his guilt got the better of him.

  • Cute animation; serious subject..

There are plenty of voices from out of state chiming in on this issue.

    I am one of them:

In my California Unitarian church last year, 4 of the 30 marriages were between same-sex couples. Same for the Union/United Church of Christ, the Episcopalians, Reform Jews and others.

Then a group of religious extremists paid big bucks to push through a new law that told us we could no longer choose who in our own congregations can marry.

Don't let them do it in Maine.

  • I agree don't feed the beast, Maine

  • Keep talking, protectmarriagenj. I've been monitoring and logging ur comments. You, as rep. of the Garden State's organized forces, are on the cusp of saying something that will damage's NJ's movement forever.

  • it has NOTHING to do with children, u don't need to be married to raise children, get over it.

  • So...You're against splitting families up, but want to legally split up gay families by ensuring they don't have equal protection. How very hypocritical.

What's so unequal and unbalanced about promoting equal rights to ANY group of people? What the hell does it have to do with you, or children of divorce or irresponsible parents? NOTHING.

  • Protect, "nail in the heart of children?" Oh, please. Give me a break. You're talking to someone who has two gay parents. My dads got married last year before Prop 8 passed in CA. They'd been together over 25 years before that, and they have three kids. Their marriage was not a nail in my heart or my brothers' hearts. It was a joyous occasion for us! And their marriage has nothing to do with irresponsible straight people who divorce or abandon their kids.

  • Same here, rainbowheartgirl !

Only my moms got married in Spain, where gay marriage has been legal for several years. The state that i live in still doesn't recognize my parents marriage as legal, which is a shame because they are an exemplary parental unit!

gay parents are just as good (and probably in some cases better) as straight parents!

  • Hey, nice to meet you! It's weird, isn't it, how people like Protectmarriage always want to speak for the children of gay parents. They never bother to speak to us. Instead they've decided to speak *for* us and tell us what they think we should feel about our lives and experiences. It's especially odd when you consider that people like this usually have absolutely no connection to the topic at all. 99% of the time, I'd be surprised if they'd ever even spoken to anyone with a gay parent.

  • I know exactly what you're talking about! People who claim to be "protecting" children by banning gay marriage and adoption are really just trying to justify they're homophobia. And the argument that kids with gay parents will be harrassed is only true in the sense that ignorant and intolerent people are everywhere, so really no child is safe from bullying!

    Gay parents are awesome! :)

  • Protectmarriagenj,

I was raised by a single dad with a good heart and a good career and so was my sister. Dad was very responsible. He took good care of us when Mom wasn't around to help out.

Your words are an insult on our family.

  • No on !!

  • Vote yes on 1

True Marriage Equality is one man and one woman.

Same Sex Nuptial is discriminatory and 100% seist. It rejects the other sex.

It is cruel and violate the fundamental birth-right of a childe to his mother and father.

Same sex "marriage" is an oxymoron. Redefining the meaning of marriage is a special right not a civil right

    Vote yes on 1

  • One Man and One Woman can still marry, Don't go around saying legalize gay marriage take away your right to marry.

  • Yeah...the kind of typical ignorance from someone who has no idea or concept of what marriage is, or was, outside of their little comfort zone - likely within the padded walls of some religious theology.

    Dark Ages aren't coming back.

  • Discriminatory? Like telling someone they can't marry the person they love just because that person just happens to have been born the same gender as they are? yeah, doesn't sound discriminatory at all!

  • Best political ad ever. I never would have thought to take their logo and see what it looks like upside down! Good job!

  • Maine, please don't make the same mistake as California did.
