Actually...being completely honest with the responses from Doctors I've met in my life, you don't have to be SMART to be a doctor.

My Uncle is a psychiatrist M.D., my old neighbor was a chiropractor M.D., and couple of my dad's friends are doctors, but none of them ever told me you have to be SMART to get into Med school.

One answer they always did tell me, Medical School is only hard, because you have to repetitively memorize material with endless dedication.

Okay, 1) chiropractors aren't even MDs. 2) One must make well enough on a standardized national exam and have a high enough GPA to get in, as well as going through interviews. It is very competitive. It is a combo of being smart and working one's ass off 3) Also, they got into med school back in the day - not recently. 4) Just because they never said it doesn't mean it isn't that way. 5) Furthermore, I know from first-hand experience WHY med school is hard. Yeah, actually, a lot of people in my class did get in elsewhere (including myself - I got into three other schools, all of which are in the continental US), and there are lots of great doctors that come from here. We are known as amazing residents because we get more hands-on experience than anywhere else. And, our board scores in recent years have been 1) better than UAB, and 2) very competitive nationally. Last year, 1/3 of the class scored above the 90th percentile. Use facts in arguments
