I played a 87 Squier the other day, and I wouldn't have said it was better than my MIM Fender. It grew on me, but I still wouldn't say it was that much better.

Best squier(made in japan) Strat is made from 82" to 84" And from late 84" to 86" 80% of Fender was from Japan !

Hi! I own a squier strat and I really wanna know how can I tell when was it made? It is from my old man and he has had it for about 25 years (not quite sure one year more or less)... so I'm guessing it should be around 84"... it has a silver squier logo it says stratocaster under that made in japan and udner that by fender... THE SERIAL NUMBER STARTS with E + 6 digit number... well E533159... could you help me out?

Greetings, E prefix serial indicates a build date of 1984 to 1987. For years I was told it was 1984 but I have since found it was used on many models during the Fender transition (84-87)from CBS to the Shultz group. I have one and love mine.

I own a Silver Series edition with serial N too, nothing to do with the squier series.

In my case its around 1992-1993.

Normally the letter is a decade code. N : 1990.

The first digit after is what year in the 90´.

Ex N3 is from 1993.

the N prefix, means its 90's then the first number in the serial is the actual year.

yes, although installing humbuckers on all single coil strats is always difficult.

Most strats have a bigger bridge pickup cavity to fit humbuckers. Just replace the pickguard and solder in the humbucker.

Yes, the neck is amazing and I even like the pickups (especially the neck and middle).

The serial begins with a "N" followed by 6 digits. Does this mean anything important?

I am not sure, mine is P but same year as yours. But mine has a maple board. N,O,P and Q are all 93 - 94 made by fujigen. There isnt enough info on these. I swear its just a proper fender neck with a squier decal.

Actually the serial do have a meaning...

the country they were made and the current year.

check out wikipedia "squier" it says a lot including this.
