  • I love all watching you at work. I'd love for you to do more videos! ...and I love listening to your voice! Well done :)

  • your molds look similar to the molds I made today. I basically made two soap boxes, each one contains 2 gallons by volume. I have not used them yet.

  • @SeattleSoap Very cool. Hope they have worked out for you. Best wishes.

  • I like the mold!

  • Beautiful soaps! Best video I've seen so far for cold process soap swirls. Thank you. Also really appreciate seeing the finished product :D

  • @akasha1211 Thank you so much for the kind comments. We know of some awesome soaper's there in New Zealand, as well as Australia (down under). ;-)

  • What did you use to line the wood?

  • @NaomiChambers I line and glue 1/32" thick Lexan, which is similar too, but is harder than plexiglass. The dividers are 1/8" thick Lexan. The yellow foam we use on the bottom is called Fun Foam which we got from Walmart. These 12 bar molds take a 42 oz batch for 1" thick bars.

  • Your soap looks lovely, thanks for sharing the video! Claire x

  • @BeautifulBubblesSoap Thanks Claire.

  • I love your soap.. Do you sell the molds?

  • @mojuta1 I make our molds and dividers myself, but not geared up to mass produce for selling. Sorry...

  • Your voice is very strange ... Btw nice soaps ^_^

  • @MissHingu Her voice is not strange at all. I found her voice to be very natural for making videos, and she had a friendly tone (unlike some other videos which seemed very rehearsed and/or rather mean and unnatural). This was a quick, friendly, no-nonsense soapmaking video.

  • @Sheldonwh Well it is for me. but I don't want to say anything at all...

  • @MissHingu And yet, you did. And where are YOUR videos so we can ridicule YOUR voice?

  • @Sheldonwh Listen: I am not trying to mean. Is THAT MEAN TO SAY THAT THE VOICE IS STRANGE? LOts of ppl has strange voice. And Who are You to judge me? I don't have uploaded videos so? Shut up If You don't have anything to say

  • I'm interested in starting to make soap. I notice that you aren't wearing gloves. Should you wear gloves, or have you been doing this so long that you don't make accidents?

  • @Discernaoftruth Yes, we are being a bad example. You really should wear gloves and eye protection whenever messing with lye. And yes, we have been at this a long time and very lucky. ;-)

  • Hi...where do you get your molds and dividers?? I'm starting out and I love your work.

  • @Ldyroscoe I make our molds and dividers myself. I use pine and glue 1/32" thick Lexan, which is similar too, but is harder than plexiglass. The dividers are 1/8" thick Lexan. The yellow foam we use on the bottom is called Fun Foam which we got from Walmart. These 12 bar molds take a 42 oz batch for 1" thick bars.

  • i know is a soap but can i chew one please?

  • @MarcoTUV Marco, you should only eat a piece if naughty words have been in your mouth. At least that is what my grandmother used to say. ;-)) It may look good enough to eat, but I am positive it does not taste like it looks. ;-)

  • @cwayneuc Thanks a lot Wayne i love your vid!!!

  • hello, excuse me for asking but is glycerine soap is made with water or oil and caustic soda?

what kind of dye you used?

excuse my bad english, I'm Italian! : D

  • @ANTONIA1504 Hello Antonia. Yes cold process soap (glycerin soap) is made with fats and oils mixed with caustic soda (also known as as lye or sodium hydroxide (NaOH)). It produces a wonderful moisturizing soap. The cold process coloring we use are skin safe liquid dyes, sold at various soap supplies companies.

  • Wow that soap turned out beautiful! great molds also.

  • @trucker47 Thank you for the nice comments. We had a lot of fun making the soap and video.

  • the soaps turned out great! :)

  • @TheFrawr Thanks. We have fun with it.

  • I thought you arsed it up but its quite effective after manipulation

  • Your voice is beautiful. It reminds me of my first babysitter. Fond memories!

Very instructional video and fantastic for a beginner like me! :)

  • @heebiejeevies Thank you so much. It must be our Hoosier accent. ;-) Glad it was helpful for you.

  • Very nice!

  • @melrose795 Thank you for the comment.

  • Thank you so much for showing us how to swirl! I have not tried this yet but I think I can do this now! :) Could you share where you have gotten your nice wooden molds and plexiglass dividers? And is the foam from the craft store? And how many lbs did you make in each? It looks like a good many bars were made!

    Again thank you!!

    Carole in Pennsylvania

  • @CaroleN199 Carole, sorry if I missed this. I don't remember if I sent you a separate message or not. ;-( I make our molds and dividers myself. I use Lexan, which is similar too, but is harder than plexiglass. The foam is called Fun Foam which we got from Walmart. And these 12 bar molds take a 42 oz batch for 1" thick bars.

  • This video was very imformative and helpful.

I also need to express how much I absolutely love your soap mold! This is fantastic! Would you be willing to share the materials you used and the design? Please!

I am also a soap maker and I've been working on improving my soap mold.

  • You are an absolute PRO at this.

  • Thank you for the comment Karen. We appreciate it.

  • Ohh! Very nice. But, you should be very careful. You should always use safety precautions if this is Cold Process. Safety glasses and gloves.

  • love it..so want some of your soap LOL

  • Thanks Sylvia. We really appreciate your comments.

  • Hi I am still in the research stage of soapmaking and i would like to know what you line the sides of the woodwn part of your mold with? Oh and the yellow foam thingy, what is that? I am in Australia so our names for things can be different. eg: Lye is called caustic soda here. Your vidoe is very clear and informative. Thank you....!

  • The sides are lined with a plastic called lexan (a polycorbonate on eBay and some hardware stores), which is also what I made the dividers with. The yellow liner for the bottom is called "Fun Foam", available here about anywhere in the arts and crafts section of stores.

  • thanks for sharing that s realy nice! do you do the soap with lye or just melt and pour? i am new at this and i am trying to understand the diference. can t wait to start making my own soap too.:)

  • Most of our soap is CP (Cold Process) and some HP (Hot Process), both types requiring lye.

  • Thanks soo much for your reply about pouring from a higher point inorder to penetrate the surface!!

By the way, where can I locate those dividers you use? I am going to have a mold made similar to the one you have.. unless you can tell me where you purchased yours? It might be more economical to make it though.

And if you don't mind sharing wherever you get your suppies- oils, fragrances, pigments.. I'd appreciate it!! I'm a newbie and I think I'll enjoy this hobby! Thanks for your time!

  • Not sure what happened to my answer on your first questio. Anyway, I make our molds and dividers myself. The dividers are made from 1/8" lexan plastic (check on eBay). We get supplies from many places. Some from Wholesale Supplies Plus, Bittercreek, Wellington, TKBtrading, Candlesupplies, Walmart and others. If you're a newbie, I suggest you join a couple of soapers forums (CraftServer, TheDishForum, SoapMakingForum, NWsoapers, ...) and read all the threads on CP Soap and recipes. Good Luck.

  • Thanks again!!!!!! This is VERY helpful!!

  • I've been searching on ebay and elsewhere for the 1/8" lexan plastic.. but I haven't been able to find any information. Could you help? Is it a solid piece that you have to buy and have 'cut' inorder to create the dividers? Where can I buy it?

And.. how do you get your soap so thin? By the time my soap reaches trace, it's usually very thick..

    THanks again for your time!

  • Just do a search on eBay for Lexan, then look for 1/8" sheets. I use a table saw to cut the pieces to size (like 2 1/2" by 10 1/2"), and a router table to cut the slots where the pieces slide together.

  • THANK YOU!!! THAT helps ALOT!! Bless you!

  • I make sure it is mixed well but don't bring it to trace when swirling.

  • Does that penetrate the deeper layers of the soap. or just the top? Ok.. i guess I should finish watching the video.

    Looks very pretty though!!!

  • Beautiful soap! Thank you for sharing your technique..

  • Thank you for the comment.

  • Thank you for this amazing video!

  • Thanks. It was our 1st so we learned a lot and made mistakes, but it was fun.

  • Your swirls are sooo beautiful. Thanks for the tutorial!

  • Thanks for your kind words.

  • How did you make the seperating piece of your mold?

  • The mold has three pieces, the base, and two L shaped sides. Look for Keith Browns how to make a soap mold.

  • No, I meant the "dividers" where did you get those?

  • I made those with 1/8" thick lexan plastic. The soap does not seem to stick to lexan. I posted complete instructions in a thread on the Craftserver forum, but everytime I try to include a link in any reply on Youtube, Youtube just seems to ignores my reply.
