we had a reporter one time at my station come in a green skirt right before she was suppose to go on and she "keyed" out, we ended up having to shoot her tight from the waist up, it was so funny!
Wow, I haven't seen Mike Nelson since 1991. He was the chief meteorologist for KMOV channel 4 (CBS) here in St. Louis from 1985 to 1991. His personality definitely hasn't changed much!
whats the point of having a green screen and superimposing the weather over it? Why not just have a normal screen playing the weather forecast and record that?
because some times the normal screen doesn't get picked up well by the cameras. also, i would imagine it's much easier and less expensive than getting a giant television monitor.

I have green knee-high socks and I was practicing at the station once and I had no legs, it was fun, haha.

Using a chroma key allows the weather anchor to stand in front of the weather map but not have the map show over his body.
