but even with embolization depending on your age and how close to menopause you are they can still come back, i wondering why this program is not telling us that? it is a great surgery to keep fertility, but the fibroids do come back even with embolization if your not close to menopause.

@desariec Not true. UFE is typically a one time procedure. All of the fibroids that are present at the time of the UFE procedure are treated and therefore (unlike myomectomy surgery) it is very unlikely for a women to need a 2nd UFE procedure before menopause. If a woman is over 40 years of age when she undergoes UFE it is extremely unlikely. I have one of the country's largest UFE experience (atlii.com) and it is rare for someone to need a 2nd embolization.

@sportsmd85 i suffer uterine fibroids myself with symptoms i have read and did alot of research, i'm 36 years old have not had any surgeries as of yet and i have symptoms now in my pelvic area, i have read that embolizations are more sure then the other surgeries but most of the time your symptoms do have a big chance of coming back if your not almost going into menopause, since i found out i've had this since november i have read not always a cure.

@desariec UFE is not always a cure, but in over 90% of patients they will see dramatic improvement or complete resolution of their symptoms. While hysterectomy is a "cure" for fibroids many times the "cure" is worse than the disease. Uterus is important for heart health, bone health, sexual health and should only be removed for cancer not fibroids. UFE in experienced hands is much better option. Women need their uterus; it is shocking to me how some physicians undervalue the uterus.

@sportsmd85 i have looked up embolization and my obgyn tells me it is not offered where i live and that i's a controversial operation, and i really could not afford to get this if i had to because my insurance would not cover it, i usually take antiboitics and aspring if i feel an infection after my cycle, this thing has me worried because i have never been married and have no kids and if i had to get a hystrectomy no man would want to marry me, not like they are lining up anyway.
