Anyone that has served on MSG is welcome to provide your stories for the book I am currently manu-scripting. It is called "In Every Clime and Place". Visit embassymarines [dot] com for details.
I had an awesome experience as a Marine Security Guard ('81 to '85) while stationed in Cairo and Kuala Lumpur. It is a close knit community as an MSG and you develop many friends in the foreign service community. There are plenty of opportunities to travel and there is no better way to travel outside the U.S.A. than with a diplomatic passport. Semper Fi !

It is a close knit community overseas and you develop many friends in the foreign service community. There are plenty of opportunities to travel and there is no better way to travel outside the U.S.A. than with a diplomatic passport. I took the training and experience from MSG program and upon my discharge from the Corps I was accepted into the State Police in my home state. Semper Fi !
It was an honor to serve on MSG Duty! I was an MSG in London and New Delhi! I met my wife in London and managed to go to College at night, saved money, had a great time and made some wonderful friendships! MSG Duty was tough, but one of the best experiences in my life. Ooh rah Marine Corps!!!
@Evan7893 You do have to stand post, but that is only a small part of it. You are the security for the Embassy / Consulate. You protect the people, property and classified material for that Embassy / Consulate. You respond to what ever threat presents itself. And don't forget that when you are off duty, you can go out and experience another country. I have excellent memories that I now share with my children. Semper Fi!
The only people that have bad things to say about the Program are the ones that got relieved for doing something they knew was wrong then hold a bitter grudge forever. I served from 91-94 and wouldn't be a Marine today if not for MSG Duty. Great promo video for the other "B" billet.
I've been doing a lot of research on my ancestors and I have discovered that none of my direct ancestors have served in the Marine Corps. I will become the first Marine in my family.
I was an MSG in Karachi Pakistan and San Jose Costa Rica. It was an awesome experience! The training alone was very tough, we started with over 200 marines and 91 graduated. You had to be locked on at all times. Very simply stated you are out there on your own and have to be totally self reliant.
Great duty it was! Manila for me. And now after all these years, after a return visit, I just brought my FIlipina fiancé back stateside. OOOORAAAH! Happy holidays for me it is!
cant wait till i turn 18 so i can jus start my marine training. no matter how hard it can be how dangerous it is. i know ill have my marine brother guarding my back.
Hey Joining the Marines in 5 weeks looking to work my way into the position after getting in, anyone with this MOS please message me on here would love to talk and get as much information as possible.
@AsILayDyingOWNS77 not true.at the u.s embassy in new delhi, riots broke out over some RFID tagging issue in the states.I'm half american mixed and hoping to join the usmc after highschool,i hope so.
@JessMenu I am so sick and tired about Marines (former MSGs) saying that MSG Duty "sucks". If you claim MSG Duty is boring well quite honestly you must not have been doing your job...Marine Security Guard Duty is by far the best kept secret in the Marine Corps, and it is individuals like you who might have had a bad experience (most likely made a bad personal decision) that keep it that way. If it "sucked" so bad for you, you might consider taking a look in the mirror....OOH RAH JWM1051!!!
@scouttroop291 What country are you from Numbnuts?
All you know about the Marine Corps is what you have seen in a movie, and you cannot distinguish between fantasy and reality.
BTW, Does your mother know you are on her computer again?

Kind of funny though how nothing much happens in U.S. embassies. If something does happen, then it is like an explosion where security can't do much.
