Still, I think if one is to remain a rationalist, they will have to keep a certain level of detachment.

To actually have an unbiased opinion, sects an people in and among themselves spread outward through the globe must first understand belief is a choice, not a fact. That person may believe their beliefs are fact, and feel it necessary to tell others their religion is wrong, but in doing they are no better than other person, religious, atheist or otherwise.

If McCain had been a better candidate maybe they would have. As a demographic, blacks have supported the Democratic party more than the GOP for as long as they've been able to vote, so why assume that any black who voted for Obama did so because of his race? You believe that faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to get into heaven because he is the only one that lived a perfect life and sacrificed himself for everyone on earth who are unholy and imperfect. He said in one of his speeches that his decision to become a Christian was just that- a decision. He didn't have a "vision", he didn't "fall out" in church. He saw it as a way to connect with people and unite communities. That's the best reason I can imagine to join a church, I'm just so glad our president doesn't listen to voices in his head like the last one did. What a relief.

You're right: atheism and agnosticism are the same. One is either an atheist or a theist. There is no "agnostic" middle ground as agnosticism is about what you know, not what you believe. You can be an agnostic atheist, or an agnostic theist (or gnostic as opposed to agnostic).

If McCain had been a better candidate maybe they would have. As a demographic, blacks have supported the Democratic party more than the GOP for as long as they've been able to vote, so why assume that any black who voted for Obama did so because of his race?
