Sometimes it's hard to distinguish the keys from Alto's effected sound. He definitely had a singular role as a sax player in a rock band.

Agreed. Some 70s bands used a lot of "stomp boxes" (phaser, fuzz etc.) so it even was hard to tell keys from guitars.
Anyway: love Kraan for their wacky riffs and grooves. Proof that we Germans are not the most stiff and unmusical people in the world....
