  • Hahahahah oh

  • We had this record when I was a kid. Weird then and weird now. But entertaining in a weird sort of way.

  • @vantalge yes it was kind of wierd, but weird can be good at times. But it's a shame

that Mitch Miller couldn't seem to find better materal for these great singers to do together.

  • This song is a bit strange...I'll listen to Doris sing anything though.

  • Aren't this song, and, "Sugarbush" adaptations of South African folk songs?

  • It's not about "finding dirt". A lot of songs have "hidden" sexual meanings. "I've Got A Brand New Pair of Roller Skates, You've Got A Brand New Key" was not about children's playgrounds.

With all the songs being pitched to big-name singers, I can't see "How Lovely Cooks the Meat?" getting recorded and issued--unless people heard it as being about something other than cooking food.

Nowadays, radio plays songs with titles like "I Want to F__ You" so there's no need to be coy.

  • I've read that this song is supposed to be one big eupahmism for sex.

It must be. Otherwise, why would anyone have written or recorded anything to awful?

  • People read to much into what they themselfs don't like. This is by far not the best song ever written but to say it has some hidden meanings is just silly. They also said the same thing about sugarbush which really could have a hidden meaning.

There are people who will try to find dirt whereever they can. Like it or don't leave it at that.
