The reason the power delivery is more linear is because the cams/axle ratios are Forester specific units- the axles themselves are 4.44:1 units, which helps immeasurably! I have managed to build myself a Forester STi "clone" of sorts with my 07 XT Sport. I know it doesnt have the VF39/43 STi turbo, only the stock TD04, but, with some judicious suspension upgrades, my XT is an absolute blast to drive!!
