So it sticks in your head. Why try to remember a full name like "Lincoln Town Car" When "Lincoln MKZ" is easier. Plus it can be displayed bigger on the back/side of the car. Also, with their current image, it has a more futuristic look and sound to it. Hence why a majority of their commercials are silver cars now.
