that's one of the things i love about the bostons, not a lot of barking. bostons only bark if someone is coming to the door or to alert you; they are great "guard" dogs in that way. very protective of children and loyal. Mine is 12 yrs. old. I've owned many dogs and this by far is the smartest and most fun dog ever. Have fun with your boston, they have the best faces!! oh, and get he/her a few really heavy duty chew toys because they have strong jaws (a toy kong is good). good luck.

that is really up to you the bigger the dog the bigger the responsibility.... they both need lots of excercise or they will take it out on your house and tare it up..with boston terriers you get a clown with a labrador you get a companion ..you would need a big backyard with a lab and a boston terrier can be played with inside since they are smaller and you have to train a lab while its young or... you will think its stupid no offense...but thats really up to what your looking for :) Good luck!

If your on the fence you could try spending time with each breed! We have a lab mix, he acts all lab and he does so many things wer love :) I am also sitting a 5 month old Boston Terrier and that little sweetie also is amazing! They both have so much to them!

Everybody will have their own thoughts on this. But you know your family better! As long as your brother understands how to handle a dog, and you guys research how to train dogs then the decsion as to which kind is really up to you! Find a site that talks about each breed and their pros and cons. Hope this helped!
