@zincfreud Not sure if it helps, but the first two lines are: "Bashee playing magician sitting lotus on the floor, Belly dancing beauty with a power driven saw".
Spot on. Sadly missed. Absolutely loved this band in my youth and from my home town as well
Some great quotes here on Lindisfarne's official website about attempts to create a permanent memorial to Alan Hull in Newcastle.
Jimmy Nail - "Alan Hull was one of the most important creative artists to come out of Newcastle, not just in the latter half of the 20th century, the period when he so potently plied his musical/lyrical trade, but at any time."
This would have been much better had the vocalist not insisted on messing about with the original melody and doing a piss-poor Bob Dylan impression. I think after punk, a lot of bands felt they had to rock things up a bit.
What is the 1st lyric of this song? why is he barely dancing beauty with a power driven saw?

Is it just me, or does ray jackson (around this period) remind me of Bob Carolgees (or maybe he's a lindisfarne fan)

Being my alma mater , I wish I had been there to attend it, but far too young, sadly.
