Obama cannot be a Natural born U.S. citizen no matter where he was born. His father was a British citizen. Therefore he is a naturalized American citizen.The constitution did not make the distinction whether a candidate had to be a natural born citizen in order to become president. The constitution should have been amended to state that "only natural Born U.S. citizens are eligible to run for office of the Presidency" The burden of proof lies on Obama to prove his citizenship, not us.

The State of Hawaii does not release original birth records. If you were born in Hawaii, and request a copy of your BC, the state will provide you with a certification of live birth, and nothing more. Even if your family was provided a "long-form" BC when you were born 50+ years ago, if you were to lose it, you'll only get a COLB as a replacement.

Australian law states that it doesn't matter where you were born, if one of your parents is Australian then you are automatically an Australian. Is it different in the U.S.?

Also, birth cerificates are easy to obtain in the US. It took me a week to get mine by mail and an hour to get my daughter's at a courthouse.

Obama cannot be a Natural born U.S. citizen no matter where he was born. His father was a British citizen. Therefore he is a naturalized American citizen.The constitution did not make the distinction whether a candidate had to be a natural born citizen in order to become president. The constitution should have been amended to state that "only natural Born U.S. citizens are eligible to run for office of the Presidency" The burden of proof lies on Obama to prove his citizenship, not us.

Our legal system is based on proof that something happened, not on the absense of proof that nothing happened. The State of Hawaii does not release original birth records. If you were born in Hawaii, and request a copy of your BC, the state will provide you with a certification of live birth, and nothing more. Even if your family was provided a "long-form" BC when you were born 50+ years ago, if you were to lose it, you'll only get a COLB as a replacement.

Can someone please clarify something for me? Obama's mother was born in America, right? This makes her an American citizen, so doesn't that automatically make Obama an American citizen on the strength of his mother? Australian law states that it doesn't matter where you were born, if one of your parents is Australian then you are automatically an Australian. Is it different in the U.S.?

@ThomasAUSTRALIA1 , if a person is born overseas and BOTH parents are U.S. citizens the child is automatically considered a natural born citizen of the USA. If only one parent of a child born overseas is a U.S. Citizen, it is more complex and requires certain procedures.
Also, birth cerificates are easy to obtain in the US. It took me a week to get mine by mail and an hour to get my daughter's at a courthouse.

Since he was born in Hawaii (US soil), that law does not apply to Obama.
He was born a citizen at birth = natural born citizen.
