  • uuuuh love it, great combo

  • Anyone know the original sample?

  • @Dopamine2K heart break hotel by mj?

  • @Dopamine2K I dont think this song uses any samples, although the rhythm of the bass is similar in parts to "heartbreak hotel" as the song @mc14halo mentioned.

  • @spearmintt That's exactly what I was thinkin, it reminds me of Heartbreak Hotel!

  • Its fucked up sometimes. You can be with a person for months and never fight but once you do you see their true colors. Sometimes you give people your all and we forget who we are because we are so blinded, it happens though. All I'm saying is don't forget you matter and you come first because at the end its your life. People think it is holding on that makes you stronger, but sometimes its letting go..

  • @Jessieny15 :This is so true. Very wise you must be. The best relationships happen and stand the test of time when people have embraced the love for self before others first.

  • @Jessieny15 Truest words brother, that can be the hardest thing sometimes

  • tune of the summer iscovered today - but summer's over

  • this is the kind of shit i fucks with! i mean, i don't mind listening to some mindless club music every now and then but nothing beats timeless music with a message behind it!

also, props to Q-Tip for having one of the best albums of 2008! looking forward to The Last Zulu!

  • It's a sampler

Thats one of tools we used to make music with before computers

  • It's a sampler

  • Does anybody what it is that Q-Tip is holding in the picture?

  • @Dooptasticness MPC - not sure which one... google it...

  • @Dooptasticness A Drum Machine.

  • What is a "muvee"? Oh wait, I get it, you're retarded.

  • who the fuck cares it is "your muvee"

  • The funny thing about Q-Tip is that he's a trend setter......he was actually one of the pple that is sometimes mentioned for startin the whole booty shakin video movement lol......and now it seems like he's gettin back to his roots as an artist

  • it always amazes me of a song & artist like Q to have any thumbs down, never the less 12 thumbs down! Who the hell are you 12 who dont like this track and why? I bet you they like kanye and lil wayne, wake up fools, you 12 are brainwashe or just brainwack..

  • @unirvrsl amen

  • One Of The Best

  • I LOVE it when he says

    "And it! And it! BEGINS!"

  • its a shame we have to look back to find good music like this, cuz once we've heard all the old stuff there's nothing to look forward to.

  • Im really diggin the snare sound...its just wet enough but not too dry in my opinion.

  • Funky!

  • <3 this song! memories....

  • man i fucking love this album, its an instant classic

  • Its a shame that we can't hear songs like this on the radio. I'm 23yrs old and its extremely hard for me to get with all this mess out now. I'm going to continue to search for good music like this!!!

  • @nettiedefinest401 I agree with you man, I'm 24 years old and I feel like im ten years older lol. The new mainstream shit is so talenltess and repetitive, I got tired of complaining and just looked for the real shit.

  • @nettiedefinest401

hiphops been pimped.. at least in the mainstream.. only hope for me is kanye, he really loves the music

  • This song is just so chiiiiiiiiiiilz....these are 2 beastly artists that need more shine. And am i the only 17 year old jammin to this rite now? Thumbs up if ur a teen and ur head is boppin to Mr. Kamaal the Abstract! :D

  • @taquitotexano09 you aint the only teen smashin to that shit. fucc the radio! (unless its KRCL). that aint where the hip-hop lives! real hip-hop will never shine on the radio! stay raw Q-tip!!!

  • @taquitotexano09 right on

  • nice use of MJ's heartbreak Hotel...

  • @mc14halo the bass riffs right?

  • Excellent!!!

  • anyone have the instrumental to this song?

  • i love how theres no negative comments and everybody is just enjoying real music.

  • @melara111193 Unfortunately 12 people didn't get the memo. It's a good song though.!!!!!

  • @domlind86 word i forgot bout the dislikes...oh well it is a good song

  • Love it. I miss Hip Hop like this on the radio...Love Q-Tip!

  • kingxskippy

As long as you know what real Hip-Hop is that's all that matters.

  • This guy has a really unique style.

  • This is what I'm talkin bout right here, people have forgotten what Hip-Hop is. Q-Tip is from that era of the lyricist and remains that today. I call any and all Hip-Hop heads to come listen to my man Torch 1 (The Harbinger). A unsigned Hip-Hop artist whose been inspired by the same era of Hip-Hop where Q-Tip is from. He's truly a next generation lyricist, peep his 'Harbinger freestyle" and let me know what you think.

  • @KasanaSage

I listen to alot of the Underground Hip-Hop Artists, Like J-Live and this dude, It's not dead, it's just Underground, I have musch respect for alot of these artists.

  • vvv

  • nice q!

  • loved the sound of this song from the first time I hit "play"

  • i totally agree.... RENAISSANCE!!!!!!!!

  • classic

  • q-tip...

    nice

  • @SMACKSMASHMOUTH vibe w/ me man lol shit is nostalgic

  • i luv dis song me and my daddy step to this song

  • We Fight, We Love.. I Lover Her!!

  • For those that don't know or are not familiar with the origins to the backing track just do a search on youtube for Cafe Jacques Meaningless. The song originates from the late seventies, the band are being resurrected for their first gig in nearly thirty years and you can get more info on Fans of Cafe Jacques on Facebook......

  • @davey1806 just checked it out. incredible crate digging! keep it up.

  • I don't know how 7 people can rate this and not love it, much less like it.

  • Best hiphop album in decades.

  • Sample Charles Hamilton feat. Yung Nate - Live Life To The Fullest ? From The Pink Lavalamp (2006)

  • this is the beat from michael jackson's heartbreak hotel

  • Nostalgic. This is true hip-hop!

  • I love driving down the streets of cali to this.

  • @jadegodinez yep lol haha me too just the other day

  • Total gut

  • I somehow never noticed he was holding up an MPC

  • Q-Tip should've made a video to this!

  • Raphael Saadiq still got that polished marble sound.

  • the 1st version of this song i heard was with:

Q-Tip - We Fight / Love (feat. Kanye West & Consequence

    check it out.

  • i wish the artists of today would just take a second and remember what real music is about. this is real music

  • magia aunque se que q canta en ingles,ma daverooooooooooooooooo

  • DAG! this is how i want to feel when i hear music!!

  • @lifeadams1978

That's EXACTLY what i was thinking.

  • It's artist like Q-Tip that's keepin hip-hop alive

  • Q-tip knows what real music should sound like u can tell within 5 seconds of listening to his tracks and Mr. Saadiq on top of that? You can't lose with that collabo.

  • a slight twinge of nostalgia attached to this rhythm.

    TIMELESS.

  • luv it

  • @SMACKSMASHMOUTH man, modern is nothing but trash, take it back to the day and show everyone what its all about, this is the real stuff.

  • This "Abstract Poet" is my ambassador of relaxation. Love this mans style (how the hell can u not). One of the ILLest styles in HIP HOP.

Johnny Walker (Black label) in my glass + Q-Tip on the sounds + my favorite girl = a great evening.

  • Damn yo. . . Raphael Saadiq & Q-Tip. . . Killa duo. They make shit that even the hardest mofos kan vibe wit.

  • Q Tip is amazing, I always feel instantly good when I listen to him!

  • new skool is out to make hits, old skool was out to make timeless classics.

  • i heard this song like 4 times in a row, back to back.

How many songs of the new kids can do that? Its a shame that songs like these are considered radio taboo because it truly is timeless.

  • The bassline is definitely NOT the Michael Jackson Heartbreak Hotel bassline, although I can see how an untrained ear might think that. Perhaps something else in the song was sampled from heartbreak hotel, but I assure you that it wasn't the bassline.

  • @pvxhayes

    same progression.

  • QuEEnS TiP!!!

  • lol haha nice one

  • now dis rap yo

  • Q-tip and Raphael S did that...the MJ sample is hott...rest in peace MJJ

  • What labels are doing to hip hop is intentional. This is the essence of the music. From the heart. It can be party music and be catchy but, the new generation is simply out to make hits. Thanks Tip for making music from your heart much love. L.G.N.M

  • somebody is killin on tha bass

  • @air0rzm thats saadiq on bass

  • an it and it begins...

  • wow sadiiq has a feminine voice and singing style

  • Q-tip is awesome. I like his music

  • love the production on the album,

    unlike anything i've heard before

saadiq's vocals on this track are so incredible

  • yeah...he sampled dancing machine also...(in move)

  • Nice Michael Jackson sample(heartbreak hotel)

  • Comment removed

  • smooth flow

  • love it

  • Can anybody upload the instrumental?

  • What happen to music like this? If we listen to real ass music like this we as people would do better and act better instead of listening to all the rest of that bullshit we hear all the time u know what Im talking about real talk though!!!

  • awesome duet! can listen it again & again!!!

  • Saadiq and the Tip is an awesome combo. Way too epic.

    Real chill bass line too.

  • teo....ai ascultat-o? :))

  • It was Low End Theory that Dre said influenced him,and when he made The Chronic Tip said he had to top that, thus you have Midnight Marauders.

  • Peace god! This is a wonderful song 1+ 1 =3 for sure I'll explain a little later

  • :) whaaaat?!

:) Raphael + Q-Tip... I could see how that equals thre because they are awesome

  • what??? explain plz

  • Simple...

    Knowledge and wisdom = dopeness

& all three are in this song! ;)

  • I love this album. Its 2 sick! Its truly Q-Tip's best work as a solo artist. Im not saying all his career, but his solo career

  • To me, this is the best album of 2008!

  • @RealityBasher87

I'm 100% with this statement Reals!!

  • @brfrndz as much as I like Tribe Called Quest, I'd say this actually IS the best of his career.. The Renaissance was incredible and I'll be interested to see if he can top it

  • smh im so mad that they made a video for the remix n not this

  • its almost scary how amazing this song is. But its Q-Tip so your atleast prepared for it.

  • That's exactly how I feel

  • their is not one track on this album that disapoints me.

  • this album of q tip's changed my world

  • where is the video for this song!?! There should be a video for this song

  • love this song my teacher use to play this song in my english class when we worked :P

  • wow cool teacher

  • Wow! I wish I had such a cool teacher!

  • damn thats a pretty dope english class

  • i love this song and Raphael!!Stand up Oakland!!!

  • i like the remix a whole lot more omg its so much better

  • its good they dont play this on the radio, let the idiots listen to crap if they want

  • Steely Dan sounding keys on this.

  • I'm still bumpin' the 'Midnight Marauders' LP, there's so many hits on that album that never even got rotation on commercial radio, it's ridiculous. There was an interview of Q-Tip where he said even Dr. Dre told him he was inspired by that album, before he did the 1st Chronic. ATCQ set standards that alot of artists even today can't follow, cause they have genuine talent.

  • Good story, but Dre's Chronic is EARLIER than Midnight Marauders...
