Aerosmith is a prominent American rock band. Three of the members, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Tom Hamilton had originally met in Sunapee, New Hampshire in the late 60's, but had not yet formed a band together. In 1970, the three decided they would form a band together, and that Boston, Massachusetts would be the place to do it. Later they met up with Joey Kramer (drums) and Brad Whitford (rhythm guitar).
Best rock band of all time and SO much better than the rolling stones but it is just SO faggy how tyler wants to be mcjagger in this video. Why do you want to be someone who is SO much worse than you dude...
Anyone who disliked this is completely crazy. A-Smith is the shit! Yeah, they might not be the best musicians, but we're talkin' about Rock 'n' Roll here people. and they are at the top of the R'n'R food chain. They also happen to have one of the top rhythm sections of the entire genre. I'm talkin' about (alphabetically) Hamilton, Kramer, and Whitford.
This is the year I saw them, opening for Wet Willie & the Guess Who. Pretty Much exactly like this, but in front of a lot more people, so a lot more noise and feedback energy from the crowd. Steve had everybody just up and moving, Joey slapped the beat like an elephant, and the guitar work was razor sharp. Lots of hash and leather. Good Times!
This is when Aerosmith was at its best. Rocks was their last great album. Saw them 4 times Boston, Providence, 74,75,77 twice, they were a hard rockin band. They opened for JGeils one time. But when they did their Rap version of walk this way, and daddys got a gun bullshit, forget it man. THAT aint the real 70's band. These guys, this lineup, was a great R & Roll band. Shoulda stayed on the Junk, they were better,as was all 70s music, it kicked ass.
@MegaBob77777 dUDE WITH ALL respect but what kind of bullshit was that? They still rocks, I saw them last year in Prague and they kicked my ass! When they played the first note it was like thunder and lighting striking from the sky! Joe and Brad soloing and riffing Steven screaming like at the old times Joey hit hard the drums and Tom played crazy bass Fuck man, they are still the same crazy rockers! ROCKS is my fav album too, but they did a lot of great stuff(PUMP, Get a Grip, Nine Lives)
@Thorgal20 I hear what you are saying. But when they started the "Love in an elevator" shit, and Rappin with Walk this Way, forget it,thats when they lost me. IMO, when I saw them back in the 70's, they were at their best. Hard rockin,no bullshit,no lightshows and other stage gimmicks. Just 5 guys from Boston who kicked ass. They still are great. But they'll neverequal what they did the first couple of years
@MegaBob77777 Ok I get your point of view, but the times are changing, and Aerosmith are walking with the time spirit. They didn't change a lot in their music fortunetely and they still can kick some ass. I am their fan since I've heard Nine Lives in 1998(I was a ten year old kid back then) and after all these years they are still the best for me. My fav album is ROCKS but I like all of their stuff. And my big 3 albums are: ROCKS, Get a Grip and Nine Lives.
@grabbermavman Dude believe it or not but I know almost every note from "Draw the Line", so don't tell me that I have to listen to that, because I love this song fuckin much, especially it's live versions. "Draw the Line" album was really damn good. My fav tune of that album is Kings and Queens but I like the wholle stuff very much.
Yeah if you do decide to sing an aerosmith song the trick is NOT to try to sound like Steven Tyler. Unless you have that crazy falsetto it aint gonna happen. I think that is performing any cover though, people can tell when you are trying to force out a voice that isnt yours. It's like when you hear some dude from New England try to sing a country song. It just doesnt sound right. Amazing version of this , Joe Perry is the man!
this is my favorite version of Train Kept A Rollin' by Aerosmith. i just cant stop watching this. and joe really knows how to work his stuff with the guitar.
Never EVER make the mistake of singing Aerosmith at Karaoke just because you think you know the song and words. You will NOT sing like Steven Tyler and you will make a complete fool of yourself. Trust me, I did. Or didn't. Meanwhile, you can enjoy listening to Aerosmith on youtube.
god i love aerosmith but i wish they weren't so effected by the drugs back then. would've been so amazing seeing them back then live. they're just the masters
@BigCookinCajun yeahbut i mean i would more expect Aerosmith to introduce Little Richard, you know, cause he set a benchmark way before Aerosmith did lol
FANTASTIC! The "more than a little camp"! little Richard & Tyler's boys & a track that despite it's (near immortal) cover status is in truth "theirs" No disrespect to messers Burnette or (author) Bradshaw intended. Why are some songs/tunes so coverable/brilliant/classic? How come a song has one of it's "covers covered" by the entire world? (I mean of course Mr. Burnette)!
If you want to see and hear the original rock guitarist that played the distortion licks on this song 1956.(covered by this group and others).Search-Paul Burlison..Go down to-Rock and Roll Trio-Part Three..second song..then go to the original cut in 1956..Johnny Burnette..Train Kept Rollin
The original version is from 1951 there is a video of it right here in you tube:
TINY BRADSHAW ~ THE TRAIN KEPT A-ROLLIN ~ JULY 25, 1951
Bradshaw also wrote the song with two other guys named Kay & Mann. There were a whole bunch of other acts that covered it before the Yardbirds did the hard-rcok version. Johnny Burnette is another one with a video for Train on you tube.
@ohgary1 It's not a Yardbirds song either. It was written in 1951 by Tiny Bradshaw, Kay & Mann & it was covered numerous times, most notably as a rockibilly song in 1956 by Johnny Burnette & the Rock 'N' Roll Trio. There is a cool 50s video of it on you tube, just type Johnny Burnette Train Kept A Rollin into search. The Yardbirds only did the first hard-rock version (it's in the film "Blow Up") & the first song Zepplin ever played together at their first meeting was 'Train Kept A Rollin."
Who even put "dislike"? Really...It is a friggin' 35 yo video! The song is one of the best! Not enough credit given to Aerosmith...but look at how long they've been doing it! My brothers....and don't you think this is a band that the MIGHTY Metallica looks UP to! I love me some Metallica but....REPRESENT and GIVE mad love to the bois from Bean Towne!! I am SOUTHERN BTW!!
@StripperPimp I voted this up because I wholeheartedly agree. I don't believe without Aerosmith there would even BE METALLICA! I grew up studying classic rock on the radio in my dad's pickup, I know my rock lineage. I can tell you who Avenged Sevenfold emulates back to the 1960s.e
I bought the majority of my first Peter Green Fleetwood Mac albums in a used and rarities music store that doesn't exist anymore; the writing except "Fleetwood Mac" was all in chinese! I mean all the song lyrics and everything was in Chinese! I mention this 'Fleetwood Mac" stuff because of the chinese writing in this youtube video of an Aerosmith song;
i wonder why people talk bunch a shit on the performance sometimes i always say hey dont hate unless you can back it up and im pretty sure i wouldnt beat joe perry in a guitar battle or win steven in a screaming contest
@kalleskit Whatever man. It's annoying people like you that make me angry. You could have disagreed with that comment in an intelligent manner, but instead you decided to go back to neolithic, substandard diction. I respect your opinion though, even if I tend to disagree with you. Have a good day and don't trip over cracks in the road.
@kalleskit Oh dang man. No I feel like a complete ass. Don't worry about it. It was pretty hypocritical of me to get all angry at you in return. I apologize to you too. I'm just a huge fan of The Yardbirds. :/ Seriously have a good day! :)
Joe plays like a 3 year old in this clip. What sold rock and roll records in the 70s? Sheer image, hype and record producers who would routinely hire song writers and studio musicians to ad artistic flare to bands like Aerosmith.
Gosh awful guitar playing here. Hmm? Could that be why their producer had the guitarist from Alice Cooper's band play the solos on the studio album for Aerosmith? Answer is yes.
aerosmith live are one of the most exciting and phenominal things you will EVER see, they are the best band I've ever seen, I was almost in tears (of joy), they are amazing at what they do
i was lucky enough to graduate high school the year this was on. and lucky enough to grow up in a time where it cost 10 dollars to go to a concert. we spent all our time at concerts. and we saw the best of the best from the very beginning. watching these old videos takes me back to a time where i knew for 10 dollars i was going to have a kick ass time.
@0MoTheG -- Yeah - when I woke up a little while ago, I was thinking of this. I mean - just look at their NAME, even. METALlica. haha It remains to be seen - for the few here and there who have been posting nasty stuff about Aerosmith - whether Metallica will still be at it, and still sounding good, for the decades which Aerosmith has. They're from right around here, and we literally watched them go from playing clubs, parks, etc - to becoming incredibly famous. It wasn't without hard work.
@kalleskit technically no, Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter's guitar solos on the studio version are what made it awesome. Nobody could duplicate them...not even Perry and Whitford.
@kalleskit You do realize that Wagner and Hunter are THE guitar players on Aerosmith's recording from "Get Your Wings" ? They did the guitars for a couple of songs on that album. Funny how Aerosmith's best guitar solos weren't even played by them...well it isn't funny actually, it was basically a sham. I wish I could get Wagner and Hunter to play for me and then I could take all the credit.
@gl797 who cares the shit? Hunter and Wagner are not even credited so who cares for fuck sake?! Besides check how Joe and Brad improved their solos during 40 years of playing this song!
I've never heard this version, not a big Aerosmith fan so I was really skeptical. I've listened to the Yardbirds version an insane amount of times, but this is a great cover, I was thinking "are they gonna play it slow like that the whole time?" but it made it so much better when they finally picked up the pace. This is when Stephen Tyler's voice was at its best in my opinion.
@zazeify no shit, which is why I said The Yardbirds' VERSION, you know as in "rendition," or whatever. I could have used the word "cover" and I guess I should have because I obviously confused you, but I'll know better from now on. I was pointing out that I like the Yardbirds' version the most. Bands back then did covers all the time, which is where the A&R's came in. But thank you, please tell me more stuff I already know, it's fascinating.
And I fuckin love Tom Hamilton on bass

Best band ever, it is out of the question

Gosh awful guitar playing here. Hmm? Could that be why their producer had the guitarist from Alice Cooper's band play the solos on the studio album for Aerosmith? Answer is yes.

i was lucky enough to graduate high school the year this was on. and lucky enough to grow up in a time where it cost 10 dollars to go to a concert. we spent all our time at concerts. and we saw the best of the best from the very beginning. watching these old videos takes me back to a time where i knew for 10 dollars i was going to have a kick ass time.
tlynch1218 1 year ago
@tlynch1218 It Only cost me $ 3.50 to see Aerosmith the first time, I at fisrt though 10 dollars was an outrage, ha ha ha ha. Sure miss those days.

It wasn't without hard work.

this is Aerosmith's song, they made it awesome, no1 can take that from them
kalleskit 1 year ago
@kalleskit technically no, Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter's guitar solos on the studio version are what made it awesome. Nobody could duplicate them...not even Perry and Whitford.
gl797 10 months ago
@gl797 ??? that's not what i think :)
kalleskit 10 months ago
@kalleskit You do realize that Wagner and Hunter are THE guitar players on Aerosmith's recording from "Get Your Wings" ? They did the guitars for a couple of songs on that album. Funny how Aerosmith's best guitar solos weren't even played by them...well it isn't funny actually, it was basically a sham. I wish I could get Wagner and Hunter to play for me and then I could take all the credit.
gl797 10 months ago
@gl797 who cares the shit? Hunter and Wagner are not even credited so who cares for fuck sake?! Besides check how Joe and Brad improved their solos during 40 years of playing this song!

I've never heard this version, not a big Aerosmith fan so I was really skeptical. I've listened to the Yardbirds version an insane amount of times, but this is a great cover, I was thinking "are they gonna play it slow like that the whole time?" but it made it so much better when they finally picked up the pace. This is when Stephen Tyler's voice was at its best in my opinion.
fishinwithguns 1 year ago
@fishinwithguns erm, the Yardbirds version is also a cover. Tune originally recorded in 1956. Johnny Burnett.
zazeify 1 year ago
@zazeify no shit, which is why I said The Yardbirds' VERSION, you know as in "rendition," or whatever. I could have used the word "cover" and I guess I should have because I obviously confused you, but I'll know better from now on. I was pointing out that I like the Yardbirds' version the most. Bands back then did covers all the time, which is where the A&R's came in. But thank you, please tell me more stuff I already know, it's fascinating.
